Herb Grinders

Well it seems that with less room in the grinder for the herb to spread out, it gets ground up at least more evenly, if not a little smaller in consistence. I find I need to grind less with the small to get a grind at least as good as what the medium can produce.

I guess how much you like to grind at a time would make a big difference also, obviously smaller amounts can fit in the small but it can still tear some nugs apart!

Its my favorite grinder for sure now(sometimes herb also goes through my mini OEM grinder for the MFLB)

That is exactly how I feel - "more evenly" as you say, and perhaps a little finer than the medium. When I got the medium I used it a few times and thought that this is very very good - almost as good as the small. For our purposes, grinding relatively small amounts at a time, the small is ideal. OTOH I tend to grind about a week's worth at a time so I reload the small a few times - which is not a big deal at all! Certainly this task doesn't rise to the level of needing to whip out the medium. Also for what it's worth and it may not be worth anything, but my small is the silver (aluminum) and the medium is the black Ti coating. I like the tactile quality of the aluminum more than the black coating and I like the way the small feels in my hand better. Tidy is the word that describes it best to me.

I agree, jeff. Well put :)

I was also wondering about the regular aluminum version instead of the Ti, since I DO recognize that the Ti coating can chip or scratch over time with use.

my medium has lost a good amount around the top edges of the bottom piece, probably because I used to be kinda rough with it :p but I will be more gentle with the small one now to try to prevent that.

So I got my Mix N Ball Classic today in the mail from EDIT. Only took 5 days, so that's a pretty quick turnaround from the UK. It came as a kit, along with a sample of Purilizer grinder cleaner. While it does a great job cleaning grinders, it smells real funky. If you can deal with the smell, go for it because it does work well. I'll post thoughts on the actual grinder once I've had a few days to toy with it. Here are some pics in the meantime.

Saw an ad for Sharpstone earlier on reddit, seems they've a deal going from now until Wednesday where you can get 20% off with a code (This code, in fact: Z64UNN01D4) on www.sharpstonegrinders.com

I just ordered one on Friday, so seeing a sale come up so soon isn't the most cheering of things, but I thought perhaps someone else could see use from it.

OT kind of, and there's def some nice grinders up there, but if it applies, they have a new Iolite for 120 before shipping. Not my favorite vape but that's crazy low.

Looks like the new 4 pc. Classic- a different anodized look, more gold than gray, and no MixnBall logo. I bet the two small rim magnets have been done away with too. My 4 pc. Classic has no magnets. It's not a big deal, but I'd rather have the rim magnets, at least.

No gold hue. It's just my crummy lighting. No magnets either, but the one pictured on the site has magnets. Not a huge deal to me since it's not going anywhere.

Can someone please clarify something for me?

In the pictures of the MFLB OEM grinder on puffitup, what is that metal piece sitting on top of the MFLB? It almost looks like a kief screen from a 4pc, but I know the OEM grinder is a 2pc. What is that thing?

It is the base part of the grinder itself. They are showing how if fits right perfectly into the MFLB, for ease of transfer with no spillage.
The top and bottom of the grinder are indented slightly giving it a "cupped' surface.. this is likely what fooled your eye.

Received my MFLB OEM magnetic grinder today. Just gave it a quick ISO soak and it's drying now. +1 for Randy @ Puffitup allowing me to swap my non-magnetic for the magnetic. We'll see if it works better.

Congrats Cutepanda! Randy took care of me as well with the grinder after randomly receiving one with no magnet

Finally, after over a year, figured out that my favorite grinder with a "K" on it is called a Kannastor. Just ordered another 1.5" one from 1percent

Love this grinder to death and it puts out a serious sawdust grind for the MFLB

I have a 2.5 inch Kannastor 4 Piece, It is an awesome grinder! It probably doesn't grind as fine as the smaller two piece versions unless I turn it upside down for a few turns. But I can achieve the nice super fine grind if i fill it up and flip it over to grind. It catches nice amounts of keif that I love to dust the top of certain bowls with!
Three of my friends have the same grinder and all love it, I have started to get quite a collection of grinders and this one seems to be the one I use the most. The removable/replaceable screens are a nice little feature that I didn't notice on the other well known brands, not really necessary but nice all the same.

It gives the perfect grind no turning upside down for my supreme or silver surfer and with not much effort I can get fine almost powder for the other vapes that prefer a finer consistency

Nice psyshaman!
Sometimes with my 4 pc SC medium.. I hold it like a wheel in relation to the ground.... and I gerind like that for a good number of turns. this forces weed to the bottm of the wheel... and doesnt let it go through the holes yet, until you are done grinding and "mulching" it. This also doesnt send any loose kief (if you have been collecting for a long time, and have a pile) up into the screen, as it neve was actually upside down.
When donr grinding, you can place grinder base down, and a few turns will send it all on through the holes to sit on your screen... and you can shake before dumping for kiefe.. or not.. but you can get any degree of finess by using the sideways technique.

I thought I had seen your grinders, Deez... but not here in this thread. Why not you do us all a good turn, and give another shot of the family!

fried, if you decide on the Sharp Crusher, get it here and save $9-only $17 delivered. Sharp Crusher I've bought two from this site-same seller as on eBay but better pricing.

The 2.5" Kannastor shown on the VG site is a clear top grinder. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a gimmick grinder. IMO you want a grinder cut from one solid piece of aluminum, so all the teeth stay put.

I've got the Cosmic 4 pc. mini and it has the biggest holes I've ever seen on a grinder. There's more hole than metal. Otherwise, it's a really nice grinder, but like the other high priced brands, not worth the money IMO. The flashy brands are fine, IMO, in the two piece sizes, but for a 4 pc. I've seen no reason to pay the prices they're asking.

I continue to like my little 2 pc. Head Chef mini (30mm). I've been waiting for the black coating to chip, scratch, etc. but it's stayed pristine and I'm not gonna abuse it just to see what it'll stand up to. This works great for the LB, and unlike the MnB Nano, it has a magnet. I paid a little over $10, including overseas shipment and a currency exchange fee. They also have this size in a 4 pc.- gotta be the smallest 4 pc. out there. 2 pc. Head Chef

Hi guys!

I just recently purchased a MFLB and I was looking for a suitable grinder. I'm don't quite understand the difference between a 2pc and a 4pc one. Is the kief catcher a huge benefit? I have also heard the smaller the diameter the finer the grind, but I'm not sure if this is true.

I have heard the Mendo Mulchers, Space Case (heard conflicting opinions actually), Kannastor are good. Was thinking about this one: http://www.mendomulchers.com/2_25inchscreen.html but it's quite expensive ($50) and again not sure if there is too big of a difference between having a screen or not since the 2" one without is $30 dollars cheaper.

But the link max posted above looks very very tempting. Just wondering if this is any different: http://merchantswholesale.ecrater.com/p/6793705/design-225-sharp-crusher-tobacco-pollen

sorry if any of this is repetitive!

Haha yeah I saw that but seeing as how the 4pc grinder max posted is pretty comparable in price, would that be a better deal? I understand that's made specially for the MFLB, but how would other 2pc grinders compare?

also, if I were to get that, would you recommend magnet or no magnet?

magnet for sure. I ordered two and received one with and one without magnet. the one with the magnet ground much much better then the no magnet.

it will grind finer cause its SO tiny.

I usually put it through a small SC 2 piece grinder first to not put stress on the OEM grinder, I believe Vito also pregrinds it for the OEM but with a different grinder.

I recommend MAGNET 100%
I use a larger grinder to rough grind my herb.. then I pack it into the MFLB OEM grinder and give a few good twists!
I get a perfect texture.
:)
Edit:
Good ole' Deez... same idea, faster hands.
Grinding is a pleasurable ritual, and passing herb through one grinder, and deciding on a second is a beautiful part of the Vape routine!
