Herb Grinders

@Max - I have the 3" 2-pc Mendo and have found it to grind much finer than my other grinders. I've never used (nor seen) the 1.5" MM, but I'm curious to see how the tooth design is on it compared to the larger piece. Can you post a pic?

Here is a pic of the 3" from their website:

Stu... question. When you say "grinds it much finer", do you mean finer smaller particles... or did you mean a finer sharper cut.

Mendo seems like a nice product. And made in USA which is a big plus for me. I wonder if their smaller grinders also have a fine grind?

I mean that the results come out to be a consistently fine grind. Smaller particles than through my 4-pc MM (or any other 4-pc that I've used for that matter). Having said that, I still use scissors/shot glass when I'm looking for an especially fine grind that goes beyond what my 2-pc can do.

I hope you're not looking for a really fine grind. The Mendo design is great for cutting through herb, but my 1.5" 2 pc. just spins after the initial cut. The tooth design and layout don't allow the herb to keep getting ground to a finer consistency. I haven't used the larger 2 pc. Mendos, but you'd think the smallest would provide the finest grind.

Well, that answers my question. I had a thought to order a Mendo but I guess I'll keep waiting for my M-n-B. to arrive... been over a month. No replies.

In 1969, this was the herb preparation product of choice. It was ultra modern. all plastic and washable. Its biggest boast was that it did not turn your weed into powder, but left it a good consistency.
Of course back in the 60's weed was not as carefully grown and marketed as it is now, so there were stems and seeds. Once in a while I still use the old mexican sativa we used to call "commersh", when times call for it!
This came in many colors, and was $4 (alot of $ back then). They were all over the USA, and after my coma, in 2004 I had difficulty preparing herb, and I had some "comersh", so I looked for a marygin in a headshop. "A What???" said the kid. Nobody had ever heard of one. I have searched the web, and written to the address on the advertisement, and the place is a dairy farm for the past 20 years. I live right in the city where this thing was invented, I should be able to track this old hippy down.
I was shocked... devastated. Damn, I felt old! Wasn't it 1969 just a few weeks ago? Marygin is gone, and I can't even find one on ebay!
This is the only image I can find, which also shocked me. (Christ... where's my walker?)

This tool is not functional for the kick-ass sticky bud of today, thats for sure, since it is more of a sifter/separator than grinder (you do have to manhandle your herb first). I obviously would not be use this tool on the weed I get now.
I use 3 different types of Space Case.. and do not NEED a Marygin... but, I want one. If any of your Grandpa's or Daddy's have one of these, I would like to buy it---> email me! :)

I am loosing to much kief when I am using the coffee grinder. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the kief intact with the herb? Should I pulse or should i just hold the power button down?

I let that yellow shit cake up around the grinder bowl and when I get some weed that needs some help, or I've had an excessively shitty day, I will use a stir stick to break and loosen it up before giving it a final pulse to really spice it up!

I get comparable results with my 2 pc medium SC.

Sorry I don't believe you. The SC 2 pc medium is terrible compared to the cosmic case. People should stop buying the SC if they really want a fine grind.

This was ground with my medium 2 pc sc. Nothing is ever wasted since brush out my kief after each use. I dare say this is fine enough to use with the mflb.

It is... My SC grinds way flakier though. And gets real jammed up... I should have seemed a replacement sooner (from SC/the online dealer)

Just shake it to move the herb around and grind some more. The more you grind with a 2 pc., the finer it gets, to a point anyway. If the herb has too much moisture it won't grind fine either.

And gets real jammed up
Do you clean it? Are you trying to grind stems? I've had resistence from grinders, but never a jam. It should move one direction or the other.

received my aerospaced 1.2" 4 piece today and for 10 bucks shipped [for FC members of course] not a bad deal at all. the grinder is very well machined and has a nice finish. no flaws that i can see. screen, threads, everything is of high quality. as for the grind... not too bad for a 4 piece, but the buds i have right super sticky and dense.

i would recommend this grinder. again for 10 bucks shipped and the high quality workmanship.

I use Iso on a q-tip around the sliding surfaces( all that make contact with each other), inside and out. ( I dont clean the blades as often. The q-tips ALWAYS come up black, I think that little bits of pollen and herb get in the sliding surfaces, and eventually gum up movement- the better the herb the faster it happens.
I found a very handy brush to clean screens. It is the same brush that comes with the MFLB.
I usually order this brush from Vapeworld, because they are so fast and the shipping is always free, but I needed a bunch of them to share with members of a local Medical M.J. group, and I found them here for 18.95 for 10 brushes. http://herbgrinderbrush.com/

If you go to VapeWorld, they sell this brush singly for $3.95, free shipping plus you can use discount code 5-off-11, I just used it this morning and it works.

For another great tool, that I got to clean my wands, and adjust other screens, check out http://www.halfbakedgoods.net/vaporizer-accessories-vaporizer-pick.html
Photoon2011-05-13at1435.jpg

if you go to Half Baked Goods, they have a 10% discount code DEC31 that is good until New Years eve.
I got it for screens etc, but I find it very helpful in maintaining my grinders. (keep it away from the grinders pollen screen though, if you use that type of grinder!)

got a chance to use the sharp crusher. still undecided. need some more time with it. here's what i can tell you though. it's exterior is exactly like a chromium crusher down to the texture. it's extremely light compared to most other aluminum grinders i've used that's around the same size. right now, i'm not sure it's a good thing or not. i originally thought it may be chromed aluminum like the puffitup grinder, but this one held up the iso wash so that was eliminated. i really like the design of the teeth, i just wish there was a few more of them. it also has less holes than most grinders. not really an issue either way. possibly could allow the material to grind a bit further than grinders with more holes. the screen is of good quality, nice and taught. the threads run smooth, although not as thick as some other grinders. they are comparable to a chromium crusher. as of right now, i'm not sure if i can recommend this as of yet. it works well but i would like to see how the aluminum holds up to daily use for a few weeks. i'll revisit this at a later time. friday night and i'm out. peace. :peace: :ko:

Those brushes for the LB or a grinder... You can snag them at hardware store CHEAP... like $1 or so.
Ahh yes so you can. Being disabled, and homebound, I forget that others can run to the store!! That is indeed a very good price!

best damn grinder tool i ever... stumbled upon. been using this for a few months now. the brush doesn't get snagged on the screen like the LB brush and it has a handy scraper/kief scoop on the reverse side that does not damage the finish of the grinder. came with a pair of hair clippers. gonna email remmington to see if they can just sell me the brush's.

You're a clever one, alright. I never thought to even look. I have a dozen old portable electric shavers ( a few are remingtons). I never ever over the years used a brush if I shaved electrically... I use an air blower to clean the blades. Now I have a dozen assorted, forgotten brushes to mess with. Good tip!

Thanks for the review.

I've seen the Sharpstone grinders, and l did a double take. I am curious how the teeth are adhered to the grinder top. Is it epoxied?
