Discontinued Omicron Vaporizer for oils

Yes, they both passed the foil test. Have you ever had a cart that seemed to slow down on the first gram. is there anything you suggest i do to get the oil to come down more. I must say that in both i filled more than .5 on my initial fill so that could be the problem. when you say the 1.5's are harder to "control" do you mean control against clogs and leaks? I've never had a leak in any of my carts

Sure, I've had concentrates that didn't make it to two dozen hits before trouble, but they left more residue on the foil.

The time to get it to load right is when you load it. You need to pay attention to pre heating the center section of the cart before you move up to the load so the concentrate doesn't hit cold metal on the way down and stall out. After the fact it's hard to get enough heat into the area (when the concentrate is there to soak it up) without making a mess. The time is before the goods get there.

If you've used the cart for several normal sessions I seriously doubt you then developed an air bubble, the bulk heater action should take care of bubbles over time, not make it worse.

Yes, guys tend to get 1.5s too hot for a number of reasons, this can melt the seals which leads to grief in leaks. Best to learn to control the heat on 2.4s.....which will do just fine in most cases when your skills get up to speed.

I decided to test the idea that it had only cropped up when the cart got down under .3 grams and added .37 to the .23 still left. Bringing the total fill up to .60 grams. Production went back to 'normal' It's worth noting that at peaks the surge produced more volume of vapor than this steady state.

All seemed normal when I up it up. It was 'stone cold' when I weighed it and found I'd used about .030 grams in the last session IIRC.

This morning it had leaked even more than before, and there was oil at the ports still. Not as easy to clean as before 9more goo) but the cart was still plugged and wouldn't draw.

This is not yet with PG.

Sad to report, it's looking like I'll never make it to PG. Since this morning's post I cleaned up the latest leak, including the flue. I then took a couple modest hits, getting volume 'up to normal' for a few seconds at least then pulled cool air through it until it was warm to the touch. Not a normal session for me, and I think mine are on the low side of average typically. I just got it hot and working then shut it down. An hour later, it'd leaked but still drew cold with a bit of gurgling. I cleaned it again, and had a normal session for me. Maybe 25 or even 30 mg at the outside? Probably less.

Four or so hours later I came back to a big mess. The flue was again full of liquid, but being thin and 'uncooked' it flowed freely up and out when I pulled on it, not a plug really, just plugged up?

Firing it up after cleaning it up confirmed, I was surging again.

But other than that bit in the MP now, and the small bit dripping down into the cart again, the tank was empty again. I could clealy see the bottom of what was a properly filled cart 12 hours before. I was back to .26 grams loaded from .60. I had lost/vaped .34 grams, and don't think I vaped .050 of that total. I leaked over a quarter gram. Whatever seal there was that once was keeping liquid from draining downward with gravity has stopped working with this thinner oil seems to me, it's draining right on out the vents and up the flue 'to it's own level' I bet.

Another minor annoyance worth looking into before production seems to have cropped up with the new connector. It's much nicer in dealing with leaks since the air hole no longer goes down into the socket, the leaks end up on the outside top of the Persei. However it doesn't come down against a firm stop as you screw it on. When it's snug there's a bit of daylight before the shoulder hits the notched rim. Over time the center pin seems to have backed into the connector a tiny bit as it's threading on a little bit further now, just barely enough to cause a short circuit protection in the Persei. A little too snug and it's flashing lights instead of hot and vapor from a short circuit of the threaded part of the cart's rim hitting the bottom contact in the Persei. Back it off half a hair and you're Jake. I expect this to continue to degrade, it seems OK on one side of my dual top, but not the other. It's OK with the adapter on my 510 thread VV head. I'm sure a minor tweak can fix it if it's a common problem....if it's caught in time? Otherwise it's a buzz kill of the first order.

Wish it wasn't leaking, other than that it looks like a winner....

Hey OF,

Thanks for posting your findings, and sorry you lost some oil in the process. At least it was in the name of science? Not to question your authoritah, but has your Persei been running at the same 3.7 volts as your vv? The timing could just be coincidence, but everything you first reported appeared just fine until around when the cart came off of the vv, and worse with surges when back on the new Persei if I understand correctly (maybe IIUC should be an acronym lol).

From an electrical standpoint this looks suspicious, especially on a low resistance cart. Then again perhaps there are some design flaws need to be worked out after all? Or maybe even thinner oils than CO2 are required so as to not block and build pressure - since other testers might have experienced this kind of behavior too by now?

Anyway thanks again and best of luck moving forward.

Very close, the battery reads 3.96 Open Circuit, and the Persei is delivering 3.65 under load. IMO a close enough match.

My take is my troubles started about the time I ran low on concentrate the first time, the 'surging' in production rate and worsening leaks came to town together. I leaked at first on thicker concentrate, but thin seems to leak faster and after more surging (with overheating in low production times????) made it even worse maybe. Which may account for none of the other guys seeing it? Still, if I'm one in 20 you'd expect someone else to have this issue, which brings us back to the possibility of a fluke, these guys are all hand built.

This is, of course, exactly the reason you Beta Test, right? I see two issues that may or may not be deal breakers in the big world, leaking and shorting in the connector. The shipped carts have to basically be free of these known defects or it's 'back to the drawing board' time......

I managed to blow through .5 in 15min +/- with my 1701. The flavor was MUCH better than original carts. I got a few rips that made me think twice about hitting it again. I was using the same oil OF was and ran in to similar issues. Mine never leaked out of the bottom but it did feed me some Scooby snacks. The flu clogged after 4-5 hits and never really got better after. Perhaps it's the oil, who knows? Flavor is increased, cloud size is about equal if not a step ahead of the current carts, and a smaller size make it more appealing to me. My buddy has footage and will hopefully have a video to post up soon. Once I clean it out I'll give some shatter a go and see what happens.

So you didn't leave yours standing up and mostly full then? So you don't know if it will leak out or not?

Also, did you notice it surging when it got low. I'm still trying to plan what to do next. Last I heard it was OK to boil but ISO soaks were not approved as yet?

I agree, it's has several useful improvements on the existing carts it seems, if the leak thing is not going to be an issue. It sure brought using thin oils to a screaming halt here, I lack your ability to empty it in one go and having the remainder leak out is not a good feature.....

I think G would consider me a "Scuba User" by definition. When I was weighing hits mine ranged between .04-.06 per hit. I didn't use the fill tool so filling wasn't the quickest. I used the toothpick in the flu method instead and made a mess.

I'll fill it and leave it around vertical to see what happens, it's a good day to test that.

I think i know what the problem is i need to investigate further. Will let you guys know.

Cool, glad you've got a finger on this one. I'll be anxiously waiting for the corrected version. Otherwise, it seems like a set of serious improvements to me.

While you make it better, I think I'll amuse myself with some more experimenting. If DubC takes it thicker, I'm not sure what to try....yet.

Any word on ISO soaks?

TIA

Ya go for iso soaks it should be able to handle it.

I dont have any to try them out, but 501 drip tips don't fit on Omi carts, right?
You need an adapter available from delta9vapes.com under screw adapters. Or if you buy a CE4 / Ego for cheaper it comes with one. Scroll up to see a few nice pictures Ataxian posted with adapters on the Omi and Persei. If drip tips are anything like ejuice tanks then it will be instead of, not on, the omi cart.

510 drip tips are the correct diameter, but many (most?) are too long at the bottom under the shoulder. I have a bunch of ones I ground down (some by hand with a file, some on a Dremel) which work fine. Also, D9 sells Delrin (vs. metal or glass) 510 drip tips which are already the correct (re. shorter) length.

Good luck,

Ignore my post, I misunderstood the question o_O Shows you how much ecig experience I had before getting an omi..

I have my PG on a OMNI with a C4 2.4 CARTOMIZER with D9 Adapater before breakfast:

OMG, what did I just notice? The 601<>510 adapter you see under that CE4 cart up there? Your 601-threaded carts WILL ALSO screw into the top. Just leave the adapter on your Omicron ;)

(Also love the look how the thicker CE4 lines with the body of the Omicron... Need to find you a nice red-gel colored cart!)

I have some YELLOW ONES.
RED ONES what a great Ideal.
The PURE GOLD is great with the OMNICRON.
O-PHOS PG today all well.

The CE4's look KOOL on the smaller devices!

An update on my Beta Testing of the 'leakproof' 1701 cart for your weekend enjoyment: With lots of attention paid to keeping the flue clear (not easy, takes some watching....) I've avoided any more leaks.

I shifted to the thickest oil I had, much stiffer than the two I'd run before. It still loads up the flue unpredictably, including the mouthpiece, but as long as I don't apply heat until the flue is clear I've had no leaks. Nor 'surging' which I now think was a symptom of the temporary storage of the last quarter gram or so in the flue, on the upper walls and the mouthpiece, the leaking may well be related to that as well by some sort of vapor 'blow back' into the vents when the flue is plugged?

I'm now over two grams into the adventure with over half that not leaked out. I plan to work down into the thinner oils and see if they will work if I keep after the flue. It's a PITA but the performance when it work is a real treat. Even after the oil has been run up the flue and back into the tank a few times it still smells and tastes far fresher than you're used to with normal Omicron carts.

I'm going to go thinner, last I heard DubC was going to go into waxes and shatters?

G said he had a handle on this one, I hope he gives it a mighty crank or two and gets this under control, I think there's another real winner in there trying to get out.

Today i was cleaning out my car and noticed something really sticky in the back seat pocket. Reached in and found an Omi 2.4 had somehow gotten wedged deep in there. It's been a heat wave out here for the last week so no doubt it heated enough to leak a little while sideways. Probably about .2 flowed out of the top. The bottom (threaded) part of the cart still looks fine though...

Is there any chance I can bring this cart back to life and put some more concentrate in it, or should I simply consider it a goner and reclaim what's left inside of it?
