Late December probably means after Christmas...Last week of December.

But if they can't find a processor, who knows how long it will be delayed....just seems kinda weird.

wouldn't some CC processor hop on this opportunity? i hope we hear some good news soon :)

Hopefully they do release it someday.

They should change the name from The Cloud to The Conundrum.

The item that nobody wants to be vaporware, yet everybody wants to be vaporware at the same time!

I honestly, even though it's hard to believe don't think there will be anymore major delays, CC company or not. They should have just said "January 2012", which is only 2 weeks away... the longer the wait, the sweeter the taste. I have very high hopes for this vape, as I refuse to vape through a bag or tube, and never again without water. I can't fucking wait....tolerance break 8 days and counting.

The line forms to the left.

That is to say; the line of people waiting to f*ck with us. Sorry to sound negative but this has, quite literally, been the most frustrating of months. Yes, even more so than the last time I posted an update. Maddening doesnt even begin to describe it.

As you know, the snafu between our shopping cart and CC processor resulted in us getting dropped. We are in the process of applying to another one. If you have noticed a change in the content of the website it is because they do not look kindly on anything that is remotely connected to cannabis. In the event we cannot line up another processor prior to the first units being ready (more on this in a moment), we will have PayPal in place. I know, I know: everyone hates PayPal. Me included if Im honest. Also being explored is Yahoo, Google, and Amazon. Again: not as convenient as Visa/AMEX. BUT, its better than sending checks via snail mail.

And even though PayPal (as well as Yahoo, Google, and Amazon) is more expensive for us to use, we will not be raising the price of the units. It is our problem, not that of our customers.

We are considering re-opening discussions with a few, select distributors. We have inquiries from ~80 of them to sift through. So thats going to take some time. Needless to say, we are not going to partner with any less than scrupulous companies. It is likely that we will pick just one for each of the following regions: US, Canada, European Union, and APAC. It will be too onerous to manage more than that. So you can be sure that whichever ones we pick will (hopefully) be the best of the bunch.

We were scheduled to begin manufacturing units on December 15th. Then we had to switch CMs at the 11th hour. Our original CM decided that the labor required to assemble a Cloud was less than what they quoted us. They played chicken, thinking wed acquiesce to a last minute bump in price. They lost. We stood by their original quote. After some unpleasantness that doesnt warrant elaboration, they refunded our money (we had to put down a sizeable deposit to establish our production line).

The good news is that we have a new CM. Even better, this company employs assembly-line engineers (and not just trained sets of hands) to actively seek out ways in which the manufacturing process (as well as the design itself) might be improved. PowerNerd was on site at the new CM on the 15th to train them on how a Cloud is built. I sent a signed PO on the 16th authorizing the commencement of work. Nevertheless, it set us back by another week or so.

The final hair-ripping moment came from one of our subassembly manufacturers. Despite crystal clear instructions from Jeff, they managed to not only f*ck up the heater rope/temperature sensor assembly, they actually ruined an entire batch. Our Q/A of their work caught this in time none were put into WIP inventory. But regardless, another set back of about a week. This is making me gray.

Thats all for now. Weve got the last pieces of WIP arriving the 19th and 20th. The CM should be trained up by the 23rd, and hopefully well have some manner of ecommerce sorted out to coincide therewith.

Guys (and gals), I was dearly hoping to be able to ship the first units in time for a Christmas arrival. There has been no shortage of screaming, gnashing of teeth, and thrown office chairs to try to get that done. But to no avail.

At least the line to the left I mentioned at the beginning of this note seems to have fewer people standing in it.

^^Well thank you for the honest update about everything, it's sad that the cloud won't be here for the holidays but the anticipation for the cloud is like a second Christmas. I think we would all rather have the cloud a week later than get a broken cloud and then wait weeks for repairs.

sucks to hear about the setbacks.
so if i read and reread that correctly there are no complete manufactured units? just partially assembled, missing the heater temp sensor?
when the finished units become available and you still dont have a cc processor, will you offer will call pick up? i know this is already the third time i've mentioned will call, but i'm ready to roll, whether its cash in hand or paypal, i'm down!!! :brow:

Yeah agree PayPal is no issue for me either. I wonder how fast they will be able to pump out units once they get everything going...

Paypal is a good option other then the costs involved. No need to worry about what will apear on your statement and if you don't have a credit card it isn't a problem. I have also seen paypal used on some sites where you have the option of using your credit card for the purchase without needing a paypal account so it covers all bases.

Moodswing, Obviously things may change and I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this but I asked StoneMonkey directly about the possibility of meeting with him to get my Cloud and his email response is quoted below. I realize your current question is what if they don't have a CC processor which was not part of my discussion with him but at least you know what he was thinking last week.

"I won't be hand delivering any units just to simplify our accounting as everything is automated if you go through our website, plus there is always a chance of human error when it is me accounting for stuff.... :) "

Thanks for the update Robot! Again, best of luck and smooth sailing ahead... no big deal an extra week, or month... we've waited this long, and to be honest, your honestly and communication is what makes it so bearable. You guys do kick ass for that.

One thing kinda bothers me when you are talking about the engineers on the line possibly making things better, etc. I've had a bad taste in my mouth from Arizer constantly "improving" their products, and it sucks when you buy something and almost immediately it becomes "better" and you have to sell it, lose money, and then buy again. I really hope when I get the Cloud, it will be IT.... i mean if down the road, like a year or 2 later you update it fine, but I just hope you guys don't start secretly improving components or whatever. Don't think that's the case given your upfrontness.

Thanks for your candor Robot. You know, for a sociopath you don't seem like such a bad guy.

Keep at it guys, just keep chopping wood.

Honestly it looks like at least another 6 months to get the bugs worked out perhaps much longer for units produced with a degree of quality. I'd say the cloud is about a year from launch.

Thanks for the update Robot! Paypal is fine with me (or just about any form of payment except AMEX0 Don't let the haters get you down. You know how impatient children can be waiting to get their favorite toy.

Seriously guys, just go with the program or get out of the way (and the pre-order line) Your posts are what makes the waiting that much more unbearable. Or better yet go build your own vape and leave the rest of us alone. Negativity is such a drag. :2c:

+1!!! How can people bitch? Why do they ? Why not just fuck off and move on with another vape? This is kinda like a club here, and we're kinda all going through this with VXL.. ups and downs.

I can wait...so can everyone if it means a better product. I'm fully prepared to go 6 months tolerance break if I have to!

PS. for those that can't wait, and want a rushed product...go read the Arizer Solo thread! You wanna go through that??

So many pages for a product which hasn't reached the shelves in smoke shops seems ridiculous to me. At that rate i'd expect to find detailed photographs of what's inside, perhaps a few good snapshots would recenter the currently raging debate somewhat... I know i'd like to see through the Cloud from the bottom if this is posible.
