Lost in Thought
My SSV purchase still makes me smile and I would definitely do it all over again.

That said, I would buy everything in my signature again as well :D

Hey! :) Im Juan Pablo and I have some questions for the SSV users. Im new into vapor world. I live in Chile, here I cant try or buy vaporizers locally. I need to take a wise decision because my health. I need to buy a good quality vaporizer for daily use with a safe air-heath path that approachs the cannabis very good (I use small amounts). I smoke max 8 hits for day but other two family member will use the vaporizer too. At first I looked into the EQ but then I discovered that the electronics are in the air path. Then in the Solo but I have read in his thread that the ceramic element crash. Some people recommended me the MFLB but I dont know if it is a very safe healthy device for daily use. Do you recommend the SSV for my situation? if you can you would buy the same SSV again? what do you think? I will buy the same vape two times: one for my and other for my sister that lives in other city. But Im not rich so I need to be wise. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

The SSV is a very well-built, well-designed, simple, clean, effective vape that will probably last a lifetime (well, possibly apart from some inexpensive and easily replaced glassware). The one restriction is that you need to plug it in - it's not a portable. And in case you don't like the high grade material of the whip (no complaints from me) you can just go and get your own silicone one.

But if you can budget for it, you really won't regret it. Unless, that is, you don't take to vaping at all. You could make yourself a lightbulb vape just to make sure you'd like vaping, but of course it will only be able to give you a hint of the effect of an SSV.

The MFLB is great as a portable for when you're out and about, though with the new optional power adapter it works well as a home vape too, apparently (I don't have one ... yet). Mind you, once you buy the MFLB, extra batteries, a decent charger and the power adapter, you're looking at a cost comparable to an SSV. It would be best to ask in the MFLB thread about how using it with the power adapter compares to the SSV.

If I were you, I don't think I'd buy more than one of any type of vape at a time, unless you had already given a unit a try. If you buy one, you can always get another one later.

Oh chimpybits... glass is such a personal thing.
I want so badly to give good guidance.. but I am so damn plain and simplistic when it comes to glass.
I use clear tube.... Even though our good friends at 7th Floor just got in tubing in some new and exciting colors!!!
I use a clear borasilicate mouthpiece
hand held wand.......
My bongs are both clear glass too....
Now I will say this---> being an SSV owner.... I wish I were more into glass.
The guys at 7th Floor are the best glass blowers in the world, and it is all done in house.
If you want to see some bad ass glass...

They even show pictiures of the each of the glass blowers!
Thanks again Vitolo. I'm also after something plain and simplistic. Honestly, I don't really care for blown glass so I just want something to do the job. I guess I'll go the Fatty or Saturn VT. Do you think the Saturn is threatening to be so big as to be unwieldy?

The Fatty Vapor Tamer is not unwieldy at all.
The Saturn VT looks very bad ass!
I do not want to misguide you, and say yes when I have not tried one yet.
I sure do want to try one!
If I do get one you can be sure I will make a full report!

Got a Saturn on the way with our big order, should be in next week. Will review and compare to Fatty and LSV shorty VT's ;)

Good move FLskwat ;)
Let us know!
Did you see the original aroma tops like I use are $5.99 (was $29 at one time!). I may score a couple of those.

Hey Unc Vito! I remembered those original aroma tops you mentioned and snagged one with my order. What a deal. I'll probably keep it on the unit and use it often. I don't know the difference between the new and old, but I couldn't justify the price difference.

@ Tritono: You can't go wrong with the SSV. You'll be able to get whatever kind of vaping experience you want with it. Some say that it isn't as efficient as other vapes, but I disagree. I believe that if you start at a lower temperature and turn it up as needed the SSV can stretch a load out farther than you think. Plus when you want that 'power hit' you have more than enough power to get it, though the load won't last as long.

@ chimpybits: I would definitely spring for the new Saturn. The Fatty is awesome, but just looking at the Saturn you can tell it will cool much better. They say it has twice the cooling power, but I'm not sure how that's measured... I know I'll be ordering one as soon as I'm sure I can afford it. Then I'll have at least twice the cooling power of my Fatty because there will always be one in the freezer!

Had a revelation a few minutes ago and would like your lights on a question:

Ok I am a clean freak and I have always been looking for MODs that will keep my mouth far from particulates (this solved with the NO2 gauze on the mouthpiece or the Aquavape with very little water to keep the flavors as much as possible).
Ok, but then I have to clean my AV super frequently from the tons of particulates that get in there AND the tubing is not protected and catches a lot; creating the issues we all know here: colouring , stink, etc...
I tried many mod's with screens in the wand, in the tubing end that goes in the wand. Some worked but they were not user friendly. If I have to spend 10 mn. each time I want to re-insert my tubing in my wand with the screen MOD "on", then it is mos'def a bad MOD, IMO :D ...

And today bingo: I took one of my wife's destroyed though clean tights; cut a little circle, apply it on the tubing's end and TADDDDDAAAAAM:

So it works great, all the particulates are trapped in the wand, reclaim is super easy, my tubing and AV stay clean as ever. The flavors, the airflow & the high are unmodified + a bonus I didn't thought of: the process of inserting the tubing in the wand with perfect seal is easier now with the fabric in between the silicone and the glass!!
So my question was: do you think the air temp touching the tight at that place is too hot, and therefore coud the tight off-gas nasty stuffs???

As a side note:
After a session, I directly touched the fabric in the middle and it was normal temp, no sign of heat stress on it though it is very thin...
And yes I am already looking for biological cotton or silk to be 100% confident.

Oh and 7th floor shoud really think about the best fabric for this cause this to me is a HUGE improvement! :D

I tried an experiment and took a hit directly from the wand, no tubing. At vaping temp it just just warm on my tongue, at full temperature it was very warm, but not burning. Try it yourself with a clean empty wand so you don't get particulated. Then maybe try that clean empty wand with your "tight mod" and hose to see if you get any taste. That should tell you. I think you're safe as long as you don't vape at high temperature, but that's my opinion. Definitely look for that better material though, how about some fine stainless steel mesh? I think you could form it into a little cup that would fit down into the hose making it easy to install.

Boy, I'm glad I'm a smoker and I don't worry about what goes into my lungs...

If i was having a particle problem id stuff one of my NO2 screens in the end of the tube, looking at them side by side this would work great.......those little NO2 screens are really handy, even worth getting without owning a NO2 imo

Or use all as normal and get one of these, which is designed by 7th Floor for the SSV, to catch particulates.
You can make one also.

Thanx for the answers guys but I have an AV (aquavape) which acts like your filter Vito, 2 x 14 mm. bubblers same story perfect seal with the whip, or/and 40 NO2 gauzes, and as stated I did the screen mod on the other extremity of the tube/or and the mouthpiece... all of these are a pain to wash/take care of/keep in place, and the tube isn't protected (with water filtration or/and screen at the mouth- end).
This is to me the easiest and best mod for daily usage...I'll test it for a few days and report!

OK, my timing seems good as the Saturn has just come out and is gathering interest here.

I think it will be just up to task for a good session with a couple of friends. Probably not as good as a bong for any more than this, but then again it is simpler (and less stuff) for solo use (and that is primarily how I vape) than a bong. I look forward to a review.

I've been using a basic home-made bubbler with my SSV over the past week or two, and I've had the end of the whip (no mouthpiece of course) sitting in the water for that time. The part of it that has been submerged has gone opaque, and I'm wondering what's doing that, and if it's anything to be concerned about.

I have seen that happen to submerged silicons and hoses.
Under most bong conditions the tube never stays submerged.
On this home made SSV bubbler, the tubing end in the water also gets foggy.

Miniwhip available again !!!

Thank you to cluffy for posting a link (in the Da Buddha thread) to the miniwhip available at VaporWarehouse.

The VB miniwhip is available again. It was discontinued by Vaporbrothers 6 or 8 months ago.
I called VaporWarehouse and spoke to a very nice gentleman about the availability of the miniwhip. He said that it was discontinued by Vaporbrothers. The miniwhips that VaporWarehouse are selling is a run of 200 that VaporWarehouse had made by a glassblower. He also said that Vaporbrothers will be producing the miniwhips again in the near future. He said that if VaporWarehouse runs out before Vaporbrothers produces more, that VapoWarehouse will have their glassblower make another run of miniwhips.

I love the miniwhip and was worried that if I broke mine (and spares) that I would have to use a full size wand or find a glassblower to duplicate the miniwhip. The miniwhip is very efficient and allows you to use a very small amount. For those that haven't tried one, they are very nice. Simple and efficient. Not fancy, just works very well.

VaporWarehouse has them here.

Hey GreenDragon, YW. Thank you for the update! I only have one mini left so i almost ordered 3 plus some screens and an MFLB mini grinder but it only came up to $49.95, just $0.05 short of free shipping. I just closed the window. So I'm WAY glad to hear that the smallest wand that rocks your world will not die, I was worried for a bit but it's good to know the mini wand will go on forever!!!!
At least for a while I hope. Thanks VaporWarehouse and Vaporbrothers for not letting the mini wand go the way of the <some extinct thing>. You rock.

Thanks for posting about the mini whip, I didn't know they discontinued it. I was just waiting for it to come in stock. It's weird though, the link you provided is 10.99 and in stock while the link I find on the Warehouse is 16.99 and extended back order.

Oh well I'll order one up if they've got them!

Edit - I've been browsing accessories and found the link you provided, looks like they have it on their site twice.
