OK...third session's technique:
I gave it a go with the water tool and decided to start with it on high so I could pull heavy on it. I packed it first, then turned it on and set it to 5. I filled the WT to halfway in the first chamber. It had a nice pull and stack at that level. I started hitting it long before it got to 5 from the mouthpiece (without water) because I just knew there was vapor building up in there while I was waiting. Once it got to 5 I put the WT on it and gave it a full pull. I got some mildly whispy vapor. I then gave it another good pull and got a little thicker vapor. When I hit it really slow to try and milk it, it did get thicker, but it took forever to get a full hit and felt kind of silly. I continued to hit it hard and kept getting vapor for much longer than expected. It's about here that I started feeling medicated. At times I would give it a slight puff off the mouthpiece between WT hits, and the hit was always much thicker than I was getting using the WT. I was using cigar type puffs, which typically work better with conduction vapes. Finally the taste got pretty bad and I ended it, opened it up and saw the remains. Easily some of the most cooked and brown/black duff I have ever gotten. So you are gonna completely cook your goodies in this thing. Also, after I opened it up it was still giving off a little bit of vapor.
Third session's impressions:
First off, let's get this out of the way...no, it doesn't hit as hard as the Solo. It was one of my focus points and I know a lot of you guys want to know that as well, so there you go. Given it was only my third session with the VB2, I reserve the right to modify my opinoin if a better hit method is figured out. But remember this...whatever method that may be will most likely involve a lot of time to milk it, during which time you could have had two satisfying hits off a Solo. It's also about the size of the Solo, if not exactly the same. Enough of comparing these two vapes...let's move on. [Although a quick comparison to the Pax and MFLB...the MFLB is the only one that truly turns off when you turn it off, thus making it very efficient. These other two conduction vapes keep on cooking until they slowly cool down.]
I spent a lot of time thinking about why I'm not fond of this thing after two uses. In the end I came to the conclusion that it is a little bit confused, or trying to be a jack of all trades, but a master of none. If I want a big hit, I've got about four big hitters here already that plug into the wall...the VB2 and its battery source aren't even trying to compete with these. The glass feels of average quality and seems to weaken the hit some, so no real sompetition for the VXL HT's with their name-brand glass blowers. The conduction heat source seems to get overworked by the wide open airflow (which is why I put it on 5 to compete with the airflow). So, nothing about it seems to want to be the best, and most of what it does that I have tried, it does average. Except the battery life. The battery life is fantastic. It arrived fully charged, but I plugged it into the wall for a top off anyhow. I then did a full empty burnoff and three full sessions over the course of a week and it hasn't budged off the fully charged level. So it's either got that licked or it is broken and lying, and I think it is the former. So that's a summary of the attitude with which I came into my third session.
I came out of the session impressed. In the end, the goal is to get medicated and this thing does just that. And I think it will prove to be efficient...at least it seems to be without exact testing. Also, I really enjoyed the glass, even with the weaker hits. This thing has great airflow and pairs well witht he WT. It's also pretty lightweight and small and fits well enough with the WT that I wouldn't hesitate to walk around with it all in one hand. I also like that I can hit it from either end. By the way, I am not using any mouthpieces...I found they restricted the airflow that I was trying to maximize. I should probably give it a go with them since it was designed that way. So I came into this session thinking I would give it one more go before loaning out to a friend who might use it more, and instead ending up wanting to use it more myself. And I have no access to oil, so I cannot attest to its effeciveness there. But that it even does it really opens up a broader market. This might end up being one of my most used portables...time will tell, but it has earned the right to tryout for it.
The one thing I haven't come to grips with yet is the price. The base unit is about the same price as the Pax, and this thing is much more versatile, so it wins there. But it still isn't going to do much better than the MFLB at less than half the price. But at least with the VB2 you get a lot of versatility. So maybe the price is more of a verdict against the Pax and not the VB2. (I seem to be talking myself into it here!) But that still leaves the glass. At $250 it feels a little bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's good and it works well, but I don't think anyone is going to mistake it for a VXL tube, and this thing is more expensive than six of the eight of those available.
So there you go. I'm starting to like it more and can see a real market for it. There will be some really satisfied customers out there. You just need to know what you are buying, and understanding the conduction component of it is important for that. If you are looking for a versatile vape that is portable, the VB2 needs strong consideration. If you are looking for huge hits or the purest taste, go get a great glass desktop model. I will say this about the solo vs the VB2. The solo is truly idiot proof, just hit the damn thing and you get good thick clouds, the VB will deliver the same hit but with technique and patience. Now the real challenge is to pack all this into an even smaller package (preferably the size of my pinky).in all seriousness I've enjoyed both VB units and although its not a solo killer it's definitely got a place in my arsenal.

Well you can go with my cotton trick or you can use the palm technique. With the stir knob on press your palm on it as tight as you can and then draw. I've found you can either take a long slow 15 second drag or you can use the micro hit technique of the MFLB, with way slow air speed to maintain temp. I'd love to figure out if our units are running at temp they're supposed to.

The WT seems like bringing a gun to a knife fight for me. It's cool and it works well, but just not the right tool for the job at hand.

I've been using the WT mostly...not fond of plastic mouthpieces. With some fiddling around I don't doubt you could get a cloud out of it. But therre is too much air flow added to the diffusion of even the minimum amount of water to get very dense vapor. Still tasty and with some effect, however. Just not as potent as a direct vape or as tasty as a Solo might be. The WT does work well with the Cloud, but its price point won't compete with the Cloud's glass.
OF gets his toy back tomorrow and then you'll get more feedback we all know. I'm hoping to remember to loan him a Solo so he can try them out for himself.

The price of the water tools have changed slightly, I know the basic shower is now $180, I'm not sure if I posted the new pricing. I'll get the facts straight and update soon.
Ps. I still am not sure if sticks likes it or not? I think by the 3rd paragraph he likes it but not w WT? Also, I have name brand glass blowers on the way, but I have no clue what the price is yet.

As a casual observer, the water tools really are not a draw to me. What initially had me curious about the device, was that it looked like something I could hide in my palm and get fat rips out of on the go. I can't speak for everyone else, but I have enough glass as it is.

I wasn't sure how my post would come across. Please remember where I am coming from when I critique a vape. I like big, thick hits. My favorite portable is the Solo because it is the biggest hitter I have tried in the portable market. My favorite desktop vapes are the Cloud, LSV and the HI, and I've got a Pod on the way. So when I am at home, the only thing I hit is a monster. I've owned a MFLB since it came out and will never get rid of it due to its stealthiness, but I rarely get satisfied off it. While the Pax may hit harder, I am not interested in sipping my vape, so I don't favor that unit. In fact, I think the Pax is grossly overpriced given the MFLB can be had for half the price. What I like about the VB2 the most is that it takes the Pax pricepoint and adds a lot of bells and whistles to it. I'm pretty sure this unit will function as well as the Pax, since it uses the same technology.
After two sessions (both without the WT) I wasn't moved, so I was having that third session with the WT for the first time. But by the end of it I was pretty happy with the unit and ready to use it more, and I think that is mostly due to the WT. I liked it with the WT, probably more than with my bubbler. I think the can on my bubbler has a little too much volume, whereas the WT seems to get it right. I use water at every chance, so two out of my three sessions with it were with water. Next time I go for an evening dog walk I will take it out, Solo style, and see how it does without the WT.
I think the only thing I don't like about it is feeling like I have to keep up with the vapor production when I want to take a little break between hits. The vapor flows pretty freely up the tube and wisps out the end when just sitting there. I think with this vape, because it is designed to be so versatile, needs more detailed instructions on how to use it. For instance, I think I am mis-using it on setting 5 with the WT...it's just too hot. That setting is there for the oil usage. My dog walk will be a good test of it being used correctly because I will keep it somewhere between 1 and 3. Conduction vapes tend to be a little more finicky to begin with, let alone with so many variables like this one has. Both the MFLB and Pax have to be hit correctly to really enjoy, and the VB2 has this same characteristic, only it's probably a little bit of a different tweak for each usage (native, WT, oil).
So, in case I have confused you, I do like this unit. I think anyone considering a Pax should get this instead. I think anyone looking for what the Solo does should get that, as these two vapes are really different. I'm glad to see the glass prices come down.
I still would like to know what exact materials are in the vapor path, as there is plastic at both ends of the path. I don't think we should just assume that any manufacturer is using safe materials, especially when it is easy to confirm.
Thanks for clarifying sticks, I feel you completely. The WT isn't for everyone and certainly isn't in everyone's price range. But the 3.0 dlx w basic shower WT I believe will end up at $399 but it is kind of out of my hands now. To be honest, I have no clue how the cloud got those glass blowers to make those hydra tubes and be able to sell them for that price. I am aggressively negotiating to get the cost down, but my main tactic is to tell the guy I'd buy a lot and he replied he can only make X ammount and the price is the price. I just do not have any leverage until the product gains popularity. Out of the 10 samples I sent out I think all 10 people like the vb2. As I stated we have almost completed a deal for an exclusive major distributor, that is something the origanal VB never achieved. Overall, the feedback has been positive.
And yes, @ $300 I would be out of business. I started work on my new project this week. It's going to be a vape to honor my friends that I lost last week. I have an idea of what to do, I have no idea why I'm sharing this with you being I can't give you a single detail yet, but I like to keep you informed!! I have the name but I have to wait for the TM paperwork before I can post it. Also, the palm 2.0 absolutely kicks ass. Next week we'll be back to biz as usual, I'll be in my office and able to get the pictures posted and new thread started.
