Not sure what the life on a ss coil typically is, this is a 22 gauge. @KeroZen what do you think the average life of a ss coil generally is.
I'm not Kerozen but I use my Elevape Smart Vaporizer, which use a coil, for +2years (daily!) and it's still going strong. The Project from Pipes use a SS coil also and didn't need any replacement....

Still not get my unit in hands since I'm in Europe, I don't expect to get it before the next week.

In the e-cig world they have to change their coils often because they are very thin but above all, because they get coated with pyrolisis byproducts. The interface with the juice must create some sort of reaction, not quite combustion, but in the end their coils get gunked.

But @Hippie Dickie once said that high currents slowly ate his NiChrome coil away, and higher the gauge (lower diameter) the more noticeable. So there is some coil aging and oxidation. I'm convinced that the least it glows the longer it will live. This is why I enjoy 20ga or even 18ga, but it takes more space and seems to have more inertia.

@elykpeace hopefully @paytonpenn will be able to get use some video, he has done really nice ones in the past. I'm planning a usage video but mine aren't that good. I haven't found the lighting to highlight the clouds, gotta work on that. Also a "How to change a coil" video for the brave souls that want to go there.
The coil assembly is a unit that can be swapped without to much trouble so I guess that is an option, to sell the coil assembly. My gut feeling is that people are really gonna like the coil that comes in the Touch and I believe it will last a long time with sane usage. I haven't just powered one up and kept it on for a long time to see what happens first, battery drained or the coil melted. I guess I need to due that experiment, ugh.

Not going to fill in the engraving with anything. The MistVape original had all the engraving filled with black.
I expect to start assembly of the current batch Monday or Tuesday.
@Shit Snacks I was excited for you try the low temp high flavor hits. I knew you would be into it.
The hot air path is virtually all ss and glass so there shouldn't be much to interfere with the flavor. I would bet the temp at the base of the chimney isn't that high, the heat is rising. So not much flavor is coming out of the wood, which is maple and kinda neutral, not much odor to begin with.

Oh, that looks pretty sweet! :)
Thanks for making the vid, @paytonpenn - if you had the chance to shoot one with fresh material and display a "trigger time counter " that would be fantastic. To see how it performs and maybe to compare with other beta testers in terms of adjusting the heating curve? Anyway, great to see it in action already.
Really looking forward to seeing this progressing - very tempting in various ways. Does anyone have the Milaana DDave 14mm shorty stems? Love to hear how they work with the Touch... :)

@mistvaporizer I too would rather keep the text small and somewhere unexposed. I do like your font and logo - but I'd go the inconspicuous way for sure like Peyton said.
Do you have a vague thought about the price range yet?
Can't wait to hear and see news. This one had my interest from the get go, now that I tried 14mm with my Milaana (ddave mod), I'm more than interested in a native 14mm.
The OG Mist ended up being too bulky for me, but this one makes me really excited! :)
Best of luck for your next steps!!

@vapen00b I'm shooting for under $100, batteries not included. So far it looks like that is possible, the parts costs isn't too bad and manufacturing time is ok. The original unit cost a lot in parts and took a long time to build. Kinda like I was in training for this unit when I made the original. This one is easy compared to the first.
@paytonpenn nice video, I can't get clouds like that. You got the touch!

When i made that comment it was about 21ga, but i was using Nichrome 60 which is much more prone to oxidation, it seems. It has been a long time since i moved to 16ga Nichrome 80 - mainly for the way the coil holds its shape to separate the loops - i have never seen any degradation of this wire - looks brand new after several years of daily usage and much higher current - 12A vs 3A for the 21ga ... it's all moot for me now that i'm using Nichrome 80 ribbon (1/8" wide, 29ga 0.011" thick) running 18A (.3 ohm at 6V) - not enough runtime to see how it will hold up ... i still see stranded power cable being eaten at the Deans plug - negative terminal.

for e-cig devices, having the fluid in contact with the heater coil i imagine is a whole lot different.

Yeah that video was great @paytonpenn even without fresh herb it demonstrates the use and capability here. I tried a full full bowl for #6 last night, and it did work but you do need to stir more and then stirring is trickier, can avoid scorching if you draw right away as I said earlier to maintain lower temps. It does seem to work better with less though, so I wouldn't fill that much again but it's nice to know you can...

Getting more and more comfortable with it, certainly effective and the taste is phenomenal, with draw and trigger technique I am getting fairly even extraction with stirring (how often depending on the hits) and only the occasional hotspot hit, which is on the side of the bowl, I catch it quick enough sensing heat as I inhale so it's never too bad and can usually be stirrered away for a nice hit afterwards, depending how far along the bowl is ofcourse

Great news snacks, glad you're liking it. One tester unit has some issue, not sure what but it is being sent back and I'll figure it out.
The next batch will have improved wiring scheme and I expect will avoid any issues.
The batch I'm working on has the logo like in the pic. Moving forward I'll consider making the logo less conspicuous, maybe put it on the side and smaller. I'm having a hard time not having the logo on at all. I want everyone to know what make and model this is, I've been working on it for going on 7 years and can't imagine not displaying the name. I appreciate people not wanting to walk around with a billboard. Thinking carefully about this one.
Tested a unit to see what the coil could take. I fired it up with a freshly charged battery and kept it on for a couple of minutes. The coil glows and seems to hit an upper limit in about 10 seconds then it maintains that color until I let up on the sensor. Going to repeat this and time how long it takes to drain the battery.
The sensor is actually a pressure sensor so you have to press it to get it on and maintain pressure to keep it on. It only requires about 20 grams of pressure so you don't have to press hard but you do have to press.
I also need to test what happens when you try to run it with the battery reversed.
Should have this batch done next week.
It seems there is room to move the sensor to the side so I'll try one like that after this batch is done.

Good news I tested having the unit on full power constantly. Went for 10 minutes and there was still juice in the battery but I got tired of holding the button. The coil was fine so there is no issue with burning coils out because you kept it on too long. Also I was amazed at the temp. I measured the temp about 1 mm away from the coil after five minutes, 770 degrees F! Plenty of heat available.
Also tested what happens when you reverse the battery. The unit comes on as soon as the door is closed and the button has no effect. Putting the battery in correctly after that and the unit worked fine. So if the battery is in wrong it won't break anything.
Spent the day making new fixtures to cut doors, then made a batch of doors.
Ready to make a new batch of coils now.

After some stupid user mistakes I managed to use the Touch with GREAT sucess, it offers the better taste convection can give you and if you keep the trigger on (touch button) for longer you can get crazy clouds (yes, crazy it's real) with a surprisingly light in color abv, sometime i thought i roasted too much the load since the bath of vapor I was sitting in but abv was very light in color with still plenty of ggoodies in.... can I say I start to type slowwwly.

Wow, that has been a super fast shipment. Nice to hear your first impressions! :)

Of course, I totally understand that. Maybe I put it wrong - didn't mean to have it all blank, not at all! I like logo and font - just a bit more discreely. I WANT to know what model it is and see that somewhere for sure, so basically same thought as yours. :)

Awesome video @paytonpenn. I gotta take vaping lessons from you.
@vapen00b I find, as @PPN mentioned, the abv can be fairly light in color but I get thoroughly medicated. If I push it hard I can get the abv darker but the flavor goes downhill and the vapor is harsher. At this point I generally run it until I'm happy and go for a fresh load, but I'm not the most economical person and I'm willing to pay a little extra for the great flavor (in terms of loading fresh instead of extracting every last microgram).
@vapen00b the "button" is a pressure sensitive device, you have to press it and keep pressing to activate the vape. The pressure required is only 50 grams, really a pretty light touch.
Testers what batteries have you used? I only tested with the samsung 25R but I'm guessing any good high discharge battery is fine.

@paytonpenn Wonderful, thanks friend. That's again a very nice video showing the pretty nice performance of the Touch.
How's the button feeling? Is it like touching a smartphone screen or is there a bit of pressing actually?

@mistvaporizer Yeah, the light discoloration is not a reliable indicator for degree of extraction. I learned that lesson while dialing in my ESV 1 - not too dark, but not much in it anymore. I tend to not go for full browning anyways.. Taste and effects determine when I finish my session! :)
Color me interested and if there's a list for the final version, please sign me up :)

Have a great Sunday guys. Keep testing - I'm sure you're having fun with this neat thing!

The touch button doesn't have much feel at all, no real feedback like clicking a regular button, and not like a screen either, it's nice and unique.

Yeah I've got avb at all ranges, I can take it where it want based on taste, you can sense the heat on your tongue to know how long you want to hold the trigger, and flavor for herb extraction

Can't edit above anymore, but I am now well past the capability to count bowls, I even vaped a few through water, very easy with a @Ratchett 18mm SonG, will be even better with male to male adapters that are long enough and set up for the basket screen. This way you get visual feedback as the glass is milked and can also spin the MVT during the hit for more even heating (huge fast hits if you preheat for the coil glow, also this wasn't on a fresh battery either)

I can get 14 mm male on both ends, 4.5 inches long. It would be optional, maybe around $10.
Recommend stem configurations to me and I'll see if my glass guy has them or maybe I can get a batch made if there is a lot of demand.
Finished a batch of anode threaded tube parts. The copper part the thumbscrew engages.
Received a shipment of ss wire so coil wrapping tomorrow.
I should start assembly no later than Wednesday.

So with the stock stem, can you use it with a 14mm female end?

That's pretty long but it would definitely clear every type of glass. I'd say like 3 inches would be ideal for a male to male if possible though. Something curved or angled would be cool if possible too... I have a right angle one that really makes it a juicebox, but no screen fit

Is thicker stems avalaible? I'm speaking about the GonG side where you put your load, the glass is very thin and I'm afraid it will broke easily.

Can I say the MVT (nice acronyme Shitsnack) is pretty similar to the Milaana but I think it is more efficient and need less stirs, although it take a bit longer(some more seconds) to heat and can't manage to vape big loads like the Milaana does (even if it works better with smaller load). MVT is perfect for micro-dosing, like its big brother!

I sold my nectar collector 14mm titanium tip...it would be a nice unbreakable mouthpiece.
The stem fits the 14mm female joint like it is but it's not stable, I need to find a 14 to 14 male to male straight joint.

Very nice testing!

@PPN I don't think there is any thicker glass available in 14 mm. Currently the stem is drilled out to 3/8" to give a ledge so the screen stays in place. Maybe I can drill it a little smaller and leave the glass thicker. I did all the beta stems but am hopeful I can have them done. I knocked one off the desk and it did break when it hit the cement floor :(
