I think people go for the lotus over the genie as it has a cleaner air path but for me the VG dose very well it hits hard in seconds so what if there is a lil bit of butane in the air path I can't taste it with a jet lighter or a standard lighter some maybe able to and some people use for medical reasons and won't want any thin in the air path but as I said for me the VG is a grate device and has made me rethink about battery potables for now and got me thinking about buying a vapman as I really like the fast heat a jet lighter can give

Best Way to use the classic genie is a torch i have found. I used a regular lighter it works as good but takes longer for big rips. My VG stays with me, never need to charge all you need is tane and a good torch and good times are waiting to be had
. I dont even use my lotus it sits in my closet, since its so easy for me to combust with.

I think most find that? Another big advantage IMO is the combustion is always complete. This means nothing to (really) worry about for the health conscious amongst us (no nasty carbon monoxide and stuff) but it also keeps the heat exchanger from fouling with soot. Not that that is fatal, the Silicon Carbide exchanger is tough indeed, but it does add cleaning in an awkward spot to an otherwise pretty worry free vape.

Also using a Zico jet. Love it.
I have a Walmart. Ronson jet lighter. It sucks. Its out of butane and I haven't refilled it. It sputtered a lot.
Is that a problem with the zico? I might end up getting a torch from Lowes but those are kind of overkill

Those cheap '1300 c butane torches Of recommends converted me to torch powered vapes (one of 'em came with the Daisy) before I had used a number of torch "Lighters" (zippo, ronson, jet flame, etc) They all sucked compared to these cheapo "Torches" I have a zico and don't really care for the type of flame it produces seems softer and more "spread-out" then the 1300c $3 torch and uses way more fuel. the zico does feel better in my hand and safer in my pocket( even though I think it weighs as much as the five cheapos combined) but being able to pick up 5 for less then $15 shipped you can't go wrong.
None of my expensive cigar torch style "lighters" lasted longer then 2 weeks, These cheap "torches" are designed for function over fancy looks.
A "torch" is made as a tool and a "torch lighter" a fashion accessory for those with disposable income. Thats been my experience anyhow.

Egzoset Thats what i went through for a few years with "lighters" bought at local stores. Never found one that would last long enough to even use a whole can of butane. I threw away a bunch of money this way and gave up on torches until i bought the cheap 1300c butane torch.
Is there no way you can shop online ? If there is a way I would guaranty you will have better results with the $3 dollar torch then any $30 dollar torch style store bought lighter.
The Vapman torch is $10 dollars and works great also but the 1300c torch works best for when you have to point it Down into the Vaporgenie, Most cigar lighters like the ones you show are not made to work upside-down or to have the flame engaged for more than a couple of seconds(3-4 at most). Hope you can find a functional torch for your vaping needs.

If/when i do buy-before-i-touch chances are i'll want to get both a couple Honest 1300c plus the competitor's vape altogether, as Christmass time is coming...
Even when i searched in Montreal it was a nightmare and it's true quality isn't there despite an inflated cost. Too bad this part of Canada started feeling so remote...
I was thinking of the Lotus actually, but the recent reviews made me want to appreciate what i've got, then just wait 'n see.
Anyway it was a shock to open up one of my defective units and notice how dirty a gas tube will get even after flushing multiple times. This is a hit or miss thing and nobody at the local store is able/willing to help anyway...
As a side note i may have forgotten to mention that i had to cut my sphere's top by a couple mm after removing its upper metal funnel: it seems a flame's throttle has to match geometry and vice-versa, otherwise the flame extinguishes as i bring it closer.
At the moment 1 MF-222 is working fine, the other being erratic though holding so far. A point may come when i need to open the door to new alternatives.

I don't have a great deal of soot on my coil's ceramic stone, but I would still like to remove any that is there. I have the Jet 1300-C butane lighter being shipped from Deal Extreme(been about a week and a half now) so I don't have a torch, but can I rid the soot simply by heating the stone to red hot over an open stove flame, or is that out of the question with these and I should simply wait for the torch to arrive? Any tips on techniques for doing this?
I just ordered one too... Ide wait for the lighter it would probably be easiest.
I bought refill fluid for my ronson but my Robson lighter stopped working... I hope the lighter is just sucks and it wasn't just because I refilled it wrong.

You can 'flame' it but not that way. Silicone Carbide is really tough stuff, getting it hot past the surface isn't easy. It's both a good insulator (meaning heat gets through slowly) and a large thermal mass (meaning it's going to take a lot of heat to raise the temperature of the whole thing. Like a bucket with a hole in it you can't fill it with a slow hose.
The way around that is to force air through it so it can heat by convection. Use the shop vac to pull air through it and torch the daylights out of the exchanger. There used to be a video of it on the VG site.
However, if it's not too bad (meaning not jammed, still drawing air) normal use with a good torch will not only stop the deposits of soot (Carbon) but will slowly oxidize the existing soot to CO2. Thanks to the complete combustion with the torch. Not to panic. At least not yet.

You ordered your from Dealextreme? How many days has it been since you ordered? I've been using a soft flame refillable bbq grill/fireplace style lighter. So ready for a real torch. Hope those glass bottles are durable if dropped... I ordered two just in case.

Couldn't find a video on it but googled using a vac with it and I'll try that when I get the torches.
I have a question about proper use. When you screw the front end onto the mouthpiece, are you supposed to screw it down until it completely stops, and is the part which houses the ceramic disc made to screw down into the bowl and press against the material?
Do you fill the bowl up til the brim of the mouthpiece? Seems like the weed bits will drop into the side areas of the disc housing unless something traps them into the bowl, and the only thing I see that could do that is the ceramic disc pressing against the weed, but surely that is not what is happening. How is the weed staying trapped in the bowl area?
I think I ordered it on the 26th. The tracking updated on the 27th... It says it has been fully shipped, but I'm guessing that means it just left the warehouse in China....
I have packed mine to the brim. I never really clean the top that screws on, it is dirty but the disk is clean.

yeah I don't think we'll get any tracking update online, it just shows up when it shows up.
my disc is clean except for every once in awhile, a few small bits get stuck to it. seems like with a packed full bowl to the brim that the disc would be sitting right down off in the middle of the weed but I can't imagine that is the design... but I can't really tell once it is screwed on.
do you ever get bits of weed coming into your mouth as you inhale? could be but I just need to replace the screen or maybe double up on the screens.

I have a first gen Vaporgenie. I ripped the metal bowl out of the pipe and have it stuck on a water pipe(no water) ... I never noticed anything getting past the screen before I took it apart, bit now I see the usual specs of material on the glass pipe.
Idk if my ceramic disk is placed different but I feel like there's at least half a bowls worth in between.

I'd like to see an integrated unit with the lighter incorporated--and its form redesigned (lovingly) so it doesn't look like grampy's olde pipe from the past past. Way too retro, too "vintage".

In My first generation VG classics top the disk is raised near a half inch higher (further away from the herb) then my newer VG tops(with removable disk) where it sits right on top of the herb when screwed onto the bowl, which seems to make it much easier to burn your load. I really do like the old style better in use and have always wondered why they changed the disk position in the newer ones. I've never burnt a load with the original but do often still char a load with the new style top.
I kept reading online how steep the learning curve could be with the VG and couldn't figure out how anyone could have trouble using one and reach combustion unless they were just totally inept at following the simple instructions that came with the VG. Then I got one with the newer top and lo and behold I too was burning bowls and had to readjust my technique a bit.
