I´m interested in the VG SS Coil as a possible first vape because it´s so darn affordable and durable looking. I´ve read a few reviews here and there. As far as I know there is no video of it actually being used dry, as a pipe. Could somebody please post a video of the vapor genie ss coil in use as a pipe, and/or a full review? Preferably taking a few consecutive hits, if that´s possible. Along the search I noticed there were other people seeking a usage video as well, so it would be appreciated.

I don't do videos, but I do use my coil quite a bit. It is more harsh but I always have water with me so it's no biggie. Cleaning is a breeze and this thing IS extremely durable. Give it a go, it is cheap.

Does anyone know how to get the screen support from the lower chamber back in the hole only mines come out and I can't get it back in?

I've tried searching the forum no joy at all.

Edit managed it somehow must hold screen in place when blowing it clean as I blew it out I think oops

Hey y'all, I gotta question about the hand carved VG's. Is there much of a difference between the different woods? Particularly, is there any noticeable flavor difference?

I used to own a hand carved maple, and I thought it always gave the best tasting first hit. I lost it about a year ago (stolen, I think) and would like to replace it, but I'm thinking about going with teak. If the flavor is about the same, i'd prefer teak, but I may reorder maple because I was so pleased with the last one. If anyone knows, advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Right now I'm using a teak hand carved or walnut classic and I don't notice any difference in taste myself, unless I use them without the mouthpiece then the wood itself tastes and feels a little different on my lips.

I agree, same basic experience here. There might have been a small difference in taste at the very first, but after a little condensate got going (coating the wood) that got lost. I challenge a blindfolded guy to tell the difference in even moderately used units.

I'd suggest you order what appeals to you. For me Teak is number two, right behind the Bronze one......

Yes I have the natural colour one and I do get a wood taste a bit when the pipe heats up.

i have a few of these never even used just in my drawer.

Just pulled the trigger on a VG Coil from Vaposhop! I was in desperate need of a back up for the Crafty and it was the most logical option for my wallet. I 'd prefer a Lotus but I can't afford one right now. I hope I like the coil... It's been a looong time since my HC VG...

I enjoyed having the coil, only got rid of it, because it was collecting dust with all my other flame vapes around, and figuring out I can make my own version of the VG using all glass parts... so I let it go, but you will most likely enjoy having it as a manual back up vape, it works quite well, just be careful not to overheat it. Good thing about the SS wire is it cleans easily with an Iso soak, so if you do combust while learning to use it, you won't have as much trouble getting the taste out.

Did you get it sorted out? I use curved surgical tweezers and screw it in clock-wise. It is springy and threads in...kinda. Twisting it in by holding in the center compresses it. I've done this many times and it still takes a couple of tries to get it seated perfectly.

Good call. That's what I have. I probably have a slightly greater preference for walnut though ...strictly aesthetics.

VG is my go-to outdoor vape. Using a small torch such as Honest, makes it possible to use even in a light wind if you cup your hands. Thanks to OF for turning me on to this method. It's harder to combust with a torch than you'd think.

Bronze is on my wish list....someday, oh yeah...it will be mine.

I'd love to go on a VG factory tour. They make the coolest shit. Stoner toys...

Yes I somehow managed it I initially tried to screw it back but it wouldn't so I pushed it and somehow it fitted in.

Do you have the springy support pushed as far down the hole as it will go? Mine is flush with the base of the chamber.

Yup, sounds like it's in there right to me. It's not the easiest thing to get it in, but once it's in, it's in. I used to think that the VG was a high volume apperatus...until I got my Daisy. The thing should be called a Bertha.

I'm new to the forum and new to vaping. I'm a reader/researcher so i've read from zero to the post above this one and it was an enjoyable read. I'm sold on the idea of supplementing my portable battery powered vapes with a butane model. The butane is a good fit in our camp setup as we cook and heat our rigs (photo link for fun) with butane rather than propane (quite unusual but we planned it that way). Anywhoo i was reading up on a couple of the other lighter based portables including the Lotus and liked the owner feedback on the Bronze Sherlock and have a question:

...I bought the bronze sherlock as agift for my kid. It's nice and I'd love to use it except he's on a non-green diet for a couple of years so it's non-THC blends thru it for a while.

Question realated to above quote; The above caught my eye as i too am a non-THC blend kind of guy. My favorite is Peppermint that begins to vape at around 210F and some cloves mixed in that vape at about 260F. Other favorites can vape around 300F and 350F. Users of the bronze VG... In your opinion, will a regular/bright quick learner become comfortable creating an enjoyable vaping experience in these given temp zones with the Bronze VG and the apparently preferred torch lighter set up?

I have the lotus and the bronze sherlock. I find the performance equivalent. If I had to choose one, I would go with the bronze sherlock because it is slightly easier to use... I also like the bronze sherlock because it is attractive, and has a nice solid feel, especially when it warms up.

Comment on above; This was the sort of info that is swaying me to order the Bronze Sherlock for a stocking stuffer to me

my...Bronze VG...so far I'm really enjoying it...I really like the ritual and it kinda reminds me of when I used to smoke a pipe back in the day.

I think the VG would be easier to vaporize herbal blends with than the other flame based units...though this is conjecture, so maybe I'll have to test my theories to find out.

The bowl size on the VGs is much larger than either the Lotus or VM so not only can you pack more, but also stir easier. With blends you probably aren't concerned with conservation, so micro-bowls aren't a consideration I wouldn't think.

Aesthetically, they are equally pleasing to the beholder. The VG will probably give youthe most "pipe-like" experience ouy of all of them.

All three are infinately adjustable. The VG has the least restrictve airway (making it more like a conventional pipe) and IME makes the biggest but harshest clouds. Again, for a pipe smoker this may be bit of a turn on.

Using a torch lighter, the VG makes the best outdoor unit of the three (followed bt the VM and then the Lotus)

I don't have any experience withe the bronze, but I do have the alum. and HC models and feel confident in saying that you'll probably be happy with it. For the money, it's a good valued, heirloom quality piece that will probably last thru you lifetime and beyond.

You are right on our not bothering with conservation, the herbs we primarily vape (chamomile, peppermint, lavender, damiana) are easy and affordable to come by. Others such as Calea still easy, but a tad bit more $. We will typically go through about 2 to 3 ounces a month of the primary herbs, half that for others. Oh, on the bowl size, . . .ramble. . . when i just want a quick hit of something like peppermint/clove (yes i'm like hooked on that combo!) i will just load up the micro bowl of a SStoNylon stem for my Underdog and get one really nice amazing hit and i'm good. Takes but a minute from start to finish as the UD is always on during waking hours.

It's a little harsh, but a great tool! I've never tried adding a mouthpiece, but I do look forward to what you rig up!

Not as easy as you might think. It fits well in a WT or other GonG joint (making a j hook a good call) but tubing or similar MPs that leave it horizontal seems to cause air leaks, it wants to stand vertical. If you go with tube, make it long.

I did just fine with the old standby 'der der' (the cardboard tube from paper towels). Punch a hole for it near one end for the coil and block that end (I folded it over and taped it). It failed after a while, but it was fun.....
