Congratulations
@SF Giant! Hope you enjoy the vape and the experience
. It's a good group of owners in this thread and a number of us come around regularly to share the EVO vaping experience.
Ya, the whistling can be significant and frustrating on some EVO units. As already mentioned, EVO whistling behavior is variable from unit to unit and it often changes over time as the glass bamboo is subjected to repeated heat soaking. My EVO whistling behavior has changed a number of times back and forth over the last few years fwiw and I've posted about it here regularly. Happily, my EVO has been whistle free now for a while (three months or longer). Some good feedback on whistling has already been given and as mentioned, it can often disappear or get better with more use. One small bonus was that I found whistling in the beginning of ownership helpful to gauge appropriate draw speeds.
Another tip on trying to address whistle behavior is to see how heat soaking affects your EVO; a lightly heat soaked EVO can show different whistling behavior than when significantly heat soaked (e.g., 4 minute warm up vs 30 minutes or more). And one more tip... there was an obscure recommendation posted a while back here that really helped me address whistling; the heat shield velcro straps on the bottom can be used to disrupt the air intake enough to stop the bamboo from whistling. I attach the straps together tightly together and orient them to be in a bit of contact with and cover the bottom of the bamboo opening. I've seen it work a number of times now. For me when the EVO is quiet, it's perfect.
Thx, it's great to see member's cannabis! I post my cannabis pictures regularly in the "what's currently in your vape" thread fwiw. Lots of nice pictures there. Cheers
That's wild, I do the same thing and never had the ELB cap whistle. I just pulled out everything for the EVO, tried the cap and got no whistle (obviously ymmv). PBW is great stuff! Fwiw, to further accelerate ELB drying, after blowing air through it I have put the ELB into the EVO and then turned on the EVO to heat up; it works well, just don't do it with an ELB dripping with water.
