Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I'll tell you one thing about the TM2. You can run through a sesh pretty quickly and get what you need, even when you're outside and it's fucking -5 degrees F.

99.99% of my vaping has to be outside, which usually is pretty manageable if not enjoyable some of the year. The wintertime however, much less enjoyable at night when it's balls freezing out. The TM2 does a great job of getting to temp fast and allowing for rapid succession hits while maintaining flavor and holding temp. Then pull the stem, puff the abv out, and you're back inside.

Sometimes it's just too much and I just buckle down and use a cart pen. When it's not a fit night out, for man nor beast.- WC Fields

It's cold AF in Michigan RN too! I have to put a pimped-out Chicago Bears Triple Fat Goose trench coat on (circa jr high 1992) to go out for a sesh. So thankful for my TM2 on nights like this tho, out-&-in B4 my fingers get numb!

hello TinyMighters.

I was out in the garage the other day, gathering my stuff up for cleaning and dropped a battery on the concrete. After staring at it for a minute waiting for it to ignite the propane into a massive fireball, I picked it up and inspected the damage. The wrap's got a tear in it, so that battery is done.

I ended up picking up a pair of Samsung batteries from a local vape shop, and they seem to work pretty well even though they're only rated for 20A compared to the Molicel's 28. I checked the 18650batterystore (.com) and they were sold out of the P28As, so just wondering what you're all using to power your TMs?

I’ve been buying my 18650s at www.18650batterystore.com, usually when they’re on sale and a few at a time. I buy the Molicel P28As too.

As for being outside in the friggin’ winter time too (I’m in MA) with my TMs, yeah it’s great to hit them and then duck back inside. Out of respect I don’t vape much in the house but I could because it’s mine, but then my adult son would want to combust with his bong inside which I make him do OUTSIDE (cough!).

The day before Thanksgiving I ended my weekslong hiatus, thankfully for a bit, and I’m on another one since New Years Day for a while. Not thrilled about it and hopefully will resume in the not-too-distant future. I cleaned both TMs and all my stems last weekend to give me something to do and instill some hope. But yes, the Tinymight is just super fantastically awesome and the best portable vape on the planet. :peace::peace:

If the battery itself isn’t damaged, you can buy 18650 “wraps”. Use a heat gun or hair dryer, as they are similar to shrink wrap. Don’t forget to order the top insulators, usually sold separately.
I didn't know that, I'm such a lazy git i would just buy new batteries though for the price of them....I get mine from Fogstar.

that's a good suggestion, but I'm pretty hesitant to take the wrap off it and do major surgery on these batteries.

I used to use HG's a lot, but the last three times I've bought batteries for both my TMs and my Wand, I've bought the Molicel P28As. Liion has them in stock... https://liionwholesale.com/collecti...authorized-distributor?variant=16151078142046
It's funny that they label them right on the battery that they're not for E cigs or vapes. Lawyers gotta lawyer.
cool, thanks. I'll check out LiIonWholesale and see if they ship to Canada. Maybe I can get in before they slap tariffs on them. :p

edit to add: Oof! cheapest shipping option is $60 via UPS for 2 batteries. Think I'll keep researching, but thanks!

I would not call it “major surgery”.

The plastic wraps can easily be cut off with a razor knife.
I think you are wise to be concerned with wraps that are cut or abused, but replacing a perfectly good battery when a new 90 cent wrap fixes the issue, well that’s up to you…. Good luck!

I was scared of burning myself/my house down when I replaced my first battery wrap too, but it’s super easy and takes like 5 minutes with a hair dryer (less if you’re practiced). Definitely worth a try to save some e-waste, but batteries are pretty cheap anyway.

I trust Rusty when it comes to battery knowledge, but I'm in the same boat @TheDankness, I'd foot the $$ for new batteries as well. Haha, I've already got one eye that doesn't as well as I'd like it to, and I like driving my truck still!

The major danger with a cylindrical lithium battery is DEAD SHORTING it for a period of time.

Slicing or peeling a plastic wrapper off the battery is NOT going to short a battery, and unless you use an AXE, you won’t be able to cut through the hard metal of the cylinder.
Now this obviously does not apply to soft Lipo pack batteries, if you drive a nail through one of those, you’ll potentially have a big problem….

Also depending on the internal tolerances of the device that holds the battery, you can sometimes just add a new wrap, over the existing “compromised” wrap. A double wrapped battery, may or may not fit back in the device, as it makes the circumference a tiny bit larger, cost you 99 cents to find out! And they sell clear wraps if you want to still see the original markings on the 1st wrapper. I like white wraps, so I can label them with a marker. P-Touch labels are also thin enough to add.

Some folks can’t afford replacing their perfectly good batteries when a wrap gets cuts (and this happens often), so rewrapping is a smart choice besides the environment issue.

Anyone else have a top plate that appears uneven?

I just noticed it with mine. I sent it in to be repaired not too long ago and now it seems like the top plate isn't perfectly flat anymore as in one side is lower than the other. Is that something I can fix easily on my own?

I bought Mollicel P30b batteries and was surprised to find the inscription "Not for e-sig or Vape" on them.. It seems that how much we discussed the use of these batteries in TM2, we did not mention this...Now I'm thinking - what is this disclaimer for and is it possible to use them in TM2??

Simply legal boilerplate.
Their p28A's have the same warning.

"Not for e-sig or Vape"
That is just to cover their collective asses. People in the nicotine vaping world have proven sufficiently stupid to seriously injure themselves with 18650 batteries.

Remember: These batteries were never intended to be in consumer hands in their pure form. They were intended to be bought by OEMs to build custom battery packs for their equipment. AFAIK, the original Tesla battery modules were built out of 18650s. Probably still are, or maybe 21700 or so.

I think that warning is so that the major battery manufacturers (Panasonic, Molicel etc) want to avoid any liability should the system Integrator (vape manufacturer) design this wrong and the device burns up -or- more.

This can be pretty serious SHT. Just look when this happens on a larger scale like with a Tesla Flambe.

When a Tesla Semi Truck went on fire it took 50,000 gallons of water to put it out. Lithium burns very hot. https://apnews.com/article/tesla-se...firefighters-7ff04a61e562b80b73e057cfd82b6165

Probably more frequently than you think just don't post your results on X.

We've seen this before with certain phones being prone to overheating and eventually catching on fire. I'm not saying lithium batteries are unsafe but you have to be really careful . If it feels really, really warm i wouldn't put it in your pockets & this goes for Vapes as well.
