There isn't as much to change as you think... Cold ohms are set, it may ask you to check again, say no. If you accidentally change cold ohms, just set it back to original setting. If you've lost track of the original cold ohm setting, do another cold ohm test, but make sure unit is ice cold. We don't want to test a hot coil.

TCR - temperature coefficient of resistance, is the arbitrary number set on each unit using escribe software. The factory default here is .006, way to high. I set each one individually, and it can range from .0012 to .0018. If the TCR is off, the temp setting may not reflect the temp in the product. This gives the computer chip an accurate way to read product temp (vs coil temp). I think .006 is the default setting, not for our ss coil. To set this I use the Escribe software, and actually watch a hit on a graph to make sure all the numbers jive. Last step is to actually take a live pull and taste it while watching it. That nails it down.

So the settings you can change on the unit itself are:
  • Mode: Select one of the 8 modes, recommend using Temp Control or Booster to start out
  • Temp: If you select TC, you need to pick temp, nothing else (watts in temp mode was preset at 50)
  • Watts: If you are in Booster (or any watt mode), you must select a wattage. Start at about 26.
  • Preheat: Booster mode preheat is set to 7 or 8. You can surf the icons on the main screen, one of which is preheat. There is preheat in all modes. Preheat will deliver 50 watts for a brief moment. You can set the strength of it from 1 to 11.
The auto shut off is set at 20 seconds (adjustable setting on Escribe), but the screen shuts off after about 3 to 5 seconds. If you go back to default settings, you'll get the original Evolv screen, and you'd have to upload the Elite file again (I can send that to anybody). If there is anything that's tricky here it's the TCR, which zeroes in temp in TC modes. I can readjust a TCR on any unit, but it's not so difficult to do yourself in Escribe for those who dare.

Adjusting TCR with Escribe - this has already been done on every unit
Open program. Click *materials* tab. Select *Elite Hot* from right column. At bottom right of screen click on *Actions*. Click on temp coeff, default is .006. You need to change this, upload settings to device and watch / sample a hit or two on the *device monitor*. I usually start at .0015 and adjust as needed based on what I see and feel. Anyone who's uncomfortable making these changes can send in for an adjustment anytime - free of charge.

@Bradymyers2 you need to upload your images to imgbb.com. I wanna see these cases!
@shredder Timber is 5 5/8" tall, not sure why it looks so tall in pics. The oven is completely isolated from the electronics. It's sold with 2 1/2 inch tube (inserted about half an inch). It's got a 19/22 fitting in the wood which provides a very tight seal.
@Monk Debate How'd 23 watts go?
@P.A.M. You realize now everybody expects another video when your T arrives

Which reminds me that I need to put out a basic instructional / informational video on Timber. I guess I need to stop building for a second and set down and do this. I'm promising because it'll force me to do it.

Once last comment than I'll STFU (shut the fuck up). The more I think about the name Timber , the more I think it is named appropriately. He's not a twig or a toothpick, but a tall and proud Timber.

Really loving my timber.

@nonbeliever mine is the unit with two holes.

@Bravesst seriously well done. This thing just gives constant clouds. It’s taken me a moment to figure it out but wow this thing is great. I am seriously enjoying it. And the battery! I can go an evening with it and just about finish a battery. I’ve never had a single battery last an evening on another vape unless I’m barely using it.

As for the shape, I really enjoy it. The wood feels great in the hand.

@P.A.M. I'm so glad you got it! I sent Alan a package once that disappeared for two weeks. Sometimes it just goes in the wrong bin. The Timber does lend itself to me that kind of build quality. You have the only one (as of right now) Walnut / Cherry unit in existence. I have a Cherry / Cherry, and I feel the cherry tops conduct a bit more heat side to side. Maybe it's the wide open face grain, not sure. You can see the cherry grain is pretty wide open, kinda wavy. Great shots showing off the cover plate, back plate, and coil fit / design, better than I've been able to do. Can't wait to see it in action.

My new partner is arriving tomorrow. We have to drive to Baltimore, about 4 hours each way, but so freaking worth it. I've been getting pics and updates all week, as well as getting the house ready. Looking forward to chilling with Chilly!!!

Thank you @nonbeliever ! It was love at frst sight . I will share performance thoughts later on, for now here’s a quick closeup look overview of the Timber and it’s DNA screen display.

I got two roasting tubes from @Alan. A cinnamon wood tube with regular glass insert, and a cherry tube with an 18mm taper for use with water pieces that came with the new slit glass prototype.

First I tried the cinnamon with the regular insert. Very wide open draw, I got good vapor very quickly. After a few hits I switched to the slit glass. Man I love this insert. The draw restriction increased but I got more vapor and could draw longer. This is the real deal.

I then tried the open insert on the cherry tube through a bubbler, and it was very nice. Again after a few hits I switched to the slit insert. It made less of a difference through the bubbler, so I’ll probably keep it in the cinnamon tube because that’s going to be my main dry tube.

Both tubes are gorgeous, with wonderful grain patterns. I love them.

My dumb question for the day... how do you load when using a glass insert tube?

@elykpeace Thanks so much for the great words (and post on Reddit). Reddit is a large community of vaporists who need to hear about Timber. The ABV shots are very nice. At this point, not many of us have those cool glass inserts. I'm sure @Alan will be back on his feet soon, and can supply us all. @Mr. Me2 not a silly question, the glass insert doesn't go all the way through. It stops short of the basket screen inserted in the tip.

Glad we're all discussing @Alan's stuff. I liked the three angled kerf idea when he first mentioned it. I am excited to try it. New ideas are good, and he's the master of new ideas.

Chilly has arrived and he's an angel, a very well behaved little pup. I'm blown away by how precious and cute he is. Very happy to have him around when I'll need a break from spending hours in the shop. Chilly, my new little helper.
