The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

The past ninety minutes have been spent with a Mighty, a stopwatch, a notepad to experiment with the Mighty's auto off feature. All in the interest of furthering scientific knowledge.

I started with a fully charged battery and 230mg finely ground MMJ in the cup and did the following:
Turned the Mighty ON, set the Temp to 190C
At the "temp reached" buzzer the timer started and ran until the Mighty did an auto OFF. The time was 1:55. In the past I've check this and it's usually between 1:53 and 2:02.

I turned the Mighty back on and reset the stopwatch. When the Mighty buzzed ready I started the stopwatch took my first slow deep draw. Now the real sacrifice begins, every minute, on the minute I took another deep lung filling draw and put a check-mark on the notepad.

After twelve minutes, and deep hits, had gone by I had to take a break ... so I reset the timer and waited. It took 2:01 and shut itself off.

After a bit I'd recovered enough to continue experimenting. This time after a few deep hits I reset the timer and took a long, but very shallow draw while watching the Mighty's readout in a mirror to be sure that the temp didn't drop below 189C. This took several attemps ... try it sometime when you're already stoned! Found that a very slow draw will not reset the auto off timer.

My personal preference would be to be able to select a shorter time than two minutes. I do NOT like to subject my precious herb to high heat unless I'm gonna vape it.

Oct. 13th

• Contacted vapornation.com (bought from them) and they told me they have an agreement with the manufacturer and that I need to go directly to S&B for warranty issues. I asked them to contact S&B on my behalf.
• vapornation.com emailed S&B CC'ing me
• Oct. 13th - S&B emailed me asking about the problems I was having
• I replied with a very detailed email describing defects (included pictures)
• S&B replied with info needed and I received my shipping label (priority 2 day to Oakland)

Minor Defects

1. The uppermost plastic pieces highlighted below cracked and fell off (commonly documented defect with this product)

Major Defects

1. Battery life has decreased tremendously within the past 3 weeks (commonly documented defect with this product)
2. The plastic housing has began to separate along the yellow circled area (noticed Sunday October 11th) (commonly documented defect with this product)
3. Vibration feature completely stopped working (noticed Monday October 12th) (commonly documented defect with this product)

Oct. 20th - Shipped Mighty to S&B Oakland
Oct. 22nd - S&B Received Mighty
Oct. 26th - Emailed S&B to ask about process/details on warranty status
Oct. 27th - Received shipping notification (below) via email. Hoping it's a brand new unit from the latest generation (will update when received)

It appears the Mighty's not touching the table at all. It's just being squeezed by the rubber-like seal around it? And your screen problem pre-dates the use of this, right? like the pressure on Mighty is not so bad, right? Just would like to be sure these are unrelated.

Yes, the screen problem started right out of the box, on day one.

sucks to hear and i'm sorry you've had so many problems! my first mighty actually worked fine after that one error it showed me, i sent it in anyway
if it is any comfort when i sent in my mighty from the day i sent it away to the day i got it back in the mai boxl, took 8 days total.

hi fellow mighty owners! i have had mine for about 9 months i think now... maybe closer to a year... who knows!!!! i had the older version with the 1 minute shut off. it had an error 04 at some point so i sent it back on warranty. my current one is the version with the 2 minute shut off.

does anyone with a 2 minute mighty think their mighty doesnt hold as much battery power? i feel like it takes less sessions before the battery is dead. i dont think its due to the 2 minute shutoff since by habit i keep tapping the power button to keep it on, habits from the 1 minute time off mighty have not died yet! and i shut it off when i am done, i almost never forget about it for the auto off, so i doubt its that even though S&B service said it's most likely that.

should i send it back in again?

Yes I noticed that with my replacement, other users have reported the same. Mine does go off a lot though as I get high like a motherfucker and sit there like an idiot staring in to space with this thing constantly buzzing in my hand.

I experienced the same with my updated mighty #3 but I came finally to the conclusion the battery indicator is simply much more accurate now. With each session I'm exactly loosing 1 battery bar.
I can start and finish a full session with only one battery bar left. This wasn't the case with my older unit which would have turned off during heat up with only one bar left.
I can still vape 6 bowls before the battery is dead so imo the mighty #3 is performing at least as good as mighty #1 and #2...

This happend to me three times already and it needs to be "reset" by plugging in your charger then unplugging it. It worked for me, although your problem could be different.

It sounds like the same problem I had with my Crafty. It's a mechanical failure and you can just tell the button ain't working anymore by the feel. I don't think a reset will do any good, unfortunately.

Hey guys, just an update. I received the replacement units from S&B for my 2 defective units; one was a ~20,000 serial range and the other a 25,000 range unit. I only opened one so far.

The unit heats faster than my original units (in the 3500 serial range) and the new firmware changes for temperature management are definetely noticeable

On my 3500 serial # range units, I used to vape at 365-368f, and i NEVER saw the temp hit even 2f above the set point. I saw dips in temperature down below 355f during heavy draws.

With the 25000 serial # range unit, I now set my temp to 358/359f - and see it hit as high as 363-4 as it maintains temp. The best part is that when I take large draws, the temp is held much closer to the set point than it was on my original units, which would experience 10-15f drops if i took extremely hard rips from it. The 25k serial range unit maintains a temp within 5f from the set point during heavy draws, and i have yet to see it drop by the 10f I was able to cause on my original units. The unit is providing more power aggressively as it dips below the set point, and/or reacting faster to the fact that the temperature is dropping.

I expect this more aggressive heating behavior will cause a bit of a reduction in total run time of the battery vs. my original units, but I feel like the result is a more constant and thick production of vapor. I bought a Plenty while my mighty's were off for repairs, and it is a hell of a unit that is super easy to attach to a standard glass fitting, and is a 110w beast that can pack almost a full gram per bowl... it produces insanely thick and powerful clouds, but I have to say...the combination multiple methods of heating that the mighty uses combined with the extremely consistent regulation of temperature produces an incredibly high quality, consistent vapor, if not as insanely dense and powerful as the Plenty - and it is extremely efficient at delivering many nice draws without a noteable reduction in vapor density or flavor on a single bowl.

Also, I noticed that adjusting the set temperature is more responsive... my older units required hitting + or - twice in a row to move up/down the first degree if i hadn't adjusted the temperature in a while... the new unit seems to always register the change on the first press.

The cooling unit fits a little looser than the original 2 units - it feels like it 'snaps' into place whereas the others would 'wedge' into place, if you get what i mean.

The reinforcement of the plastics around the oven is definetely a good thing and noteworthy too.

Overall, i think they have made good improvements to the unit. Here's hoping i don't see err 004 or another broken power switch - the power switch still worries me; it seems to be the same as the original units, which I had a failure of within only a few weeks of use. The increased 'auto-off' timeout will probably help some as i'll be less likely to need to turn the unit back on due to forgetting to hit +/- to keep it awake.

The c/u on my Mighty (23×××) is noticeably looser than on previous 3 Crafty's. I'm guessing they've changed the spec. so as to put less strain on the housing, where the c/u wedge-fits onto the now reinforced housing.

I have a RYOT (Ratpack?) case for my Crafty and it's almost as slim, but it's smell proof. If that's important to you, you may want to research that case.

But you can't beat the price of that one! And it looks great.

I clean the cooling units when I can feel a difference in the weight from the oil inside. Maybe 30-40 sessions?

Mighty/Crafty 14mm Bubbler Adapter​

This bubbler adapter is very easy to make, and the components are readily available. A Storz&Bickel cooling unit, a Magic-Flight 14mm water pipe whip, and a hacksaw blade are all that are needed.

This pre-built water pipe whip is an 18” section of silicone tubing with a male 14mm GonG fitting on one end and a 1” long acrylic tip in the other end. A 14mm to 18mm adapter is also available on the Magic-Flight whip page.

The Mighty or Crafty manuals have easy to follow CU disassembly instructions.

1. Remove the mouthpiece from the CU.

2. Slide the CU cap lock to the unlocked position.

3. Separate the CU cap from the CU base.

4. Remove the acrylic tip from the silicone tubing.

5. Slide this end of the silicone tubing into the CU’s mouthpiece hole from the outside.

6. Pull the tubing most of the way through the CU.

7. Re-insert the acrylic tip into the silicone tubing about 1/8” or 3mm.

8. Using a fine tooth hacksaw blade cut off the acrylic tip that extends from the tubing, leaving the 1/8” piece in the end of the tubing.

9. Clean up the cut end of the tubing and tip ensuring that the inside of the tip is NOT blocked!

10. Pull the GonG end of the tubing until the acrylic tip end is pulled into the mouthpiece hole.

11. Push the tip into the hole with one finger while pulling on the GonG end to firmly seat the tubing in the mouthpiece hole. No adhesive needed.

12. Reassemble the CU and slide the cap lock to the locked position.

13. Now enjoy your Mighty or Crafty with your favorite water pipe!

Now pull the whip tubing out of the CU and re-insert its original acrylic tip ... and now the whip is like new, but slightly shorter. Re-install the mouthpiece and the CU is restored to original.

The tubing of the 14mm whip from MFLB will not fit over the CU's mouthpiece ... and the CU needs to be opened for cleaning in any event.
Tubing that will fit over the mouthpiece can easily come off. With my method you can pick up your expensive Mighty by the far end of the whip and swing it around rapidly ... with no fear of it coming loose.
