Discontinued The Grasshopper

If your using 99.9% ISO I see no issue. In fact you could probably submerge the whole GH in 99%. That stuff just evaporates and should leave nothing behind. I have cleaned electronics boards with 99% ISO. So don't worry if some has dripped in.

You could submerge the whole thing, but GHL has specifically said not to.

hi, this is a 10 days of use report, about my hopper with the new body and 'self replaced' oven screen,
no problems so far, everything working as it should, temp dial works fine, backend does not get hot, heat sensor works fine...etc..:-)...did not clean it since the first use, abv just falls out,,,,,i love this device (when it's working)...
use it only dry, mostly on temps between 3,5 and 4,5,
batterys last 4-5 uses, my loads are a coarse grind and what i load is about 0,05 g, ;-)
i never stopped the watch nor counted the hits per load, i will try to think about doing this in the future,,,
anyway,,,i looove me hopper:-)

First off. I just dropped it  Still working...tried a bigger load, 0.1 at 3.5, 5 second draw to prime the bud, 10 second hit straight after without shutting it off, massive cloud, a little on the warm side but flavour was great, to be honest, the draws after dont taste as good. I think the Grasshopper has the ability to give you a really intense first hit if you do it properly but subsequent hits arent so tasty. I remember someone mentioning "freshies" ages back, I know what they mean now!

Thanks biohacker
Does sound like the GH is almost a perfect vape when pared with a bubbler/bong. Do you get through more bowls from one charge when using with a bong? I'm wondering cos you can extract all the goodness out of the herb in a couple of big hits rather than taking many smaller hits.

My heart just sank  I sent another email to Caroline to further expand on my issue (explaining it only works basically at max temp at the lowest setting, no other settings work), and I get back what looks like a generic bulleted points (tips & tricks!) on how to get the most out of the vape, and that it sounds like my GH is working NORMALLY! WTF? So now I can send my GH to them for "testing"... i replied explaining that it is definitely not operating "normally" and there is a major issue with the temperature dial. Hopefully they will send out a backend, but based on this email reply, I highly doubt it.

People say you don’t feel the heat at all if you put your lips a little bit farther back on the mouthpiece. False. You feel every bit of it but, like I said, it’s just uncomfortable, not painful.

GHL actually recommends this! "Place your lips a bit further up on the mouthpiece. This will keep your lips a bit cooler as your (sic) taking a slow draw".

Honestly, i'm not sure....not enough time testing!

:uhoh::uhoh::uhoh:

I really hope that max temp at the lowest setting isn't the new "normal" for the GH.... seems like a pretty unhelpful response from GHL.

Would you mind sharing the generic tips & tricks they sent you?

Impossible to be the new normal, when the entire dial is useless except for one single point on the dial (the lowest). Their response wasn't what I was expecting at all, but in the end it's just going to be sent to the lab, and hopefully within a couple of weeks i'll have a GH that will make me forgot about all of this!

Don't want to re-print the email without permission, but if you read the tips and tricks you would have a good laugh. Like a long slow draw and moving my lips up to help prevent burning are any help for a broken dial/vaporizer.

i had the same issue w backend #2, that and heat-up time was double. They sent me a new backend w/o getting my return first, and that fixed the problem. A fully working temp dial does just what you'd expect - less visible vapor, less heat and lighter ABV on 1 than 5. The hopper is so powerful even low vapor production is still impressive, but clearly different than high heat. I did some ABV tests at the time and found a little peak around 3.5 but otherwise the same results up and down. Weird that they missed it on the first response, hope they come around soon.

Thanks! Makes me feel better knowing that when it comes back, I will have the same (actually better) initial feelings and excitement! Back to the Mighty for now! Just wish they actually troubleshooted a little bit instead of just send it back, but everything is new, and i'm a patient grasshopper! Just my brief little exposure to this baby really made me realize that any wait for it is definitely worth it.

There is nothing like the GH, period.

99% iso? I think the strongest I've ever seen at CVS is 91%. That's what I've got. I'm guessing you order the 99% online?

In Canada all our major pharmacies sell 99% and like someone else mentioned Costco's pharmacy sell it as well.

You could submerge the whole thing, but GHL has specifically said not to.

Yes probably something you may not want to do but having some drip in wouldn't hurt it.

Yeah after doing some research I discovered that you can easily buy 99% iso at walmart. I'm an idiot, I know.

For shopping at Walmart, maybe....

Just reporting back. So far so good! Love my green Ti, and any issues so far are cosmetic only and pretty nit picky at this stage of the game.

There really is nothing else like this thing. Game changer, without a doubt.

Someone asked for pics...I'm afraid I have zero idea how to upload pics in this forum. I've tried before and I just get some [Imag] type thing...

I may post a link to a video of my green Ti paired with my walnut/green down stem magic flight orbiter. :mmmm: It really doesn't get any better than that...

Thanks bro, the I used the warranty portal on the website, and the email came from service@grasshoppervape.com from Caroline, but it sounds like the team or someone else is consulted. Do you suggest I attempt "support@"? I don't see how it could help, they seem insistent on just sending it back which I have no problem doing and is to be expected. Pretty happy with the pretty quick response time, but I expected better for the backers especially since we're beta testers. Definitely room for improvement in terms of CS/ troubleshooting.

I actually just checked the email exchange, and while I sent my initial email to support@, they replied from service@. So I guess it doesn't make much difference.

It's all good, nearly a slight blessing in disguise...since it needs to cross border, it will probably be at least a couple of weeks turnaround. This will allow me ample time to read the entire thread (my new addiction!), watch all the youtube videos, reviews, etc. and continue to build my excitement and anticipation knowing that I won't be disappointed!

I have a feeling this thread is going to explode pretty soon! Already my new favourite thread on FC!

Hey Everyone,

We’re excited to announce that we’ve sent address confirmation emails to every backer. If you think you have not received an address confirmation, please check your spam folder before contacting us. We are working to ship the very last backer Grasshoppers now.
Hopper production is running smoothly and we expect to have the rest of the backer units out by the end of January. Our entire team has worked tirelessly to get these units out, eliminate user-reported problems and improve the design during each production cycle. With every device handmade here in the U.S., we’ve been able to rapidly iterate on the design and manufacturing processes. This has resulted in increased shipping volume and drastically reduced device issues.
Over the last couple of months we’ve gone from shipping just a few units per day to over 100. We’ve now shipped over 3000 Hoppers and are happy to see so many people enjoying them. There is little more satisfying than thinking about how many of you might be using your Hopper on any given Friday night.
The various accessories offered during the campaign are being prototyped and we’re working to get these to you as soon as possible. We will follow up with our progress in future updates.
Thanks for all the support, and for making the Grasshopper possible.

Has anybody seen the bi-monthly update yet? I never seem to get those emails for some reason. I'm really curious what this one will say. Hopefully they are continuing to increase the pace of production. (Edit: figures I would post this one minute after the update was posted. Story of my life.)

I have a feeling the Grasshopper will continue to stay in high demand for a while. The more that are released into the wild, the more buzz there will be around the product.

Is it bad that I don't even have my Grasshopper yet, and I'm already looking forward to their eventual second iteration? Not that they need to update the tech to any time soon, it is definitely cutting edge. I'm just thinking that any improvement over the first iteration will be mind boggling. And I would love to see how powerful the heater tech could be in a plug-in desktop.

I'm glad to see this thread swinging over to the positive side again! Best wishes to all.

i can't remember where we landed on the differing heater screens, the ones you can see when looking down into the chamber.
My SS has a stainless honeycomb screen in there that looks pretty uniform except for the three tiny crimps on the outer edges.
My Ti on the other hand, has a blue screen with three silverish dots toward the center of the screen.
Did we ever determine what the differences were, aside from cosmetic?
Did one of my devices get assembled wrong and is missing a piece, maybe?
They both seem to work just fine.

Love my green Ti, and any issues so far are cosmetic only

Just wondering if you could elaborate on the cosmetic issues?

Also, for any colour Ti owners out there, do you find the colour scratches off???

I'm torn between blue Ti and plain silver Ti.
I just can't help but think the colour models would look tacky after some scratches, where as with a plain silver Ti the scratches would be less apparent.

I have to say, initially I didn't understand the term VAS..... Now here I am with 6 vapes (Soon to be 7)... And countless accessories...
FFS VAS, give my wallet a break!
Not to mention firefly2 is about to be released.... *sigh* #firstworldproblems

hi @inuhuion, i had the same with the second body they send me for my green ti, there was a blue 'screen' and three silver dots, i emailed them about that, they said that this is not normal and that there should also be a screen, they send me a screen, with an explanation about how to proceed to put it in the hopper, i was able to make the 'reparation' myself without a problem....

Agreed, but I think they should focus on durability/longevity first in order for their lifetime warranty to not bite them in the ass. I nominate @stickstones to be the GHL's leading frontman for warranty contact like the MiniVap!

Just wondering if you could elaborate on the cosmetic issues?

My SS GH has cosmetic imperfections in the tune of some manufacturing scratches. Nothing major, and even with my OCD not enough to bother me...... function over aesthetics is all I care about at this point!

Me too! Every single anodized grinder (including SC, SCS) that i've owned always ended up scratching/chipping the colour away. Tough decision! Leaning toward the regular Ti myself I think!

So mine finally arrived. The only cosmetic issue is that "purple" isn't very purple. It's more grey with a very slight purplish tinge to it. Other than that, the fit and finish is pretty good. There is a very slight gap up by the temp. dial, I think other people have remarked on that. The threading is pretty smooth on mine.

But on to the important stuff- this thing works really well! I'm not one to step up temperatures or try to eke out every last bit. My main vape is an Underdog, through a small bubbler- I like to take a huge, full-spectrum hit, and don't bother with what's left over once the taste is gone. I have the GH set on 4. Vapor can get a little hot and dry towards the end of a long hit, but it's not too bad. With single hits, there is no issue of the mouthpiece getting too hot on your lips, I haven't even taken the condom out of its bag (though I'll give it a try when I check out using it through the bubbler). Taste is good, maybe not quite as good as a huge rip on the UD, but no complaints.
The efficiency of this thing is amazing. A teensy pinch makes a big cloud. It doesn't take much technique- you definitely want to hit it hard, not sip it. My wife, who has kind of diminished lung capacity, was able to get a big hit on her first try, no problem with the draw at all. My daughter and her boyfriend were over, and everyone was impressed. I think using it as a one hitter is the way to go, gives it a chance to cool off between hits.
Just hope it keeps working....!
