Discontinued The Grasshopper

Yeah I input the S/N and the ID code on the box. It says the ID code is valid but the S/N is invalid, I figure I'll just wait for a response. Also I emailed support@grasshoppervape.com. Would using the Caroline@grasshoppervape.com be quicker you think? Also also thanks for the kind words!
Is your hopper not already listed under the "my grasshopper" tab?

I know your serial number was listed online for these unique hoppers, and when they switch out a Backend they automatically change it online, so maybe you're already registered?

Just received the heat treated TI hopper. Here are some pictures:

I'm digging the aesthetic so far, really gives a kind of steampunk look to the hopper. Hopefully(knock on wood) there aren't any outstanding issues with this device. I have the batteries charging now and only time will tell!

EDIT: Well now I'm pretty upset. Unless they just don't use them anymore I believe the top screen that gets attached to my mouthpiece was never installed! Here's what I'm talking about!

Rtq69JX.jpg

If you look through the hole you can tell that there is just no screen there. Anytime I inhale all I get are scooby snacks! On top of that every time I try to register the hopper on their website it says it's an invalid serial number.... I bought it directly from GHL so HOW DID THIS HAPPEN
I received mine today too....Mine does have a screen...I tried it for the first time...I had it on high and thought it was on mid....The mouth piece got very warm (no silicone).... I'll try again tomorrow and get my temp right...Big clouds on high....

Unfortunately not, my old SS model is still registered but not this new Ti model. I'm sure I'll be able to get it resolved through email though so I'm not too worried overall.

If you go into the account tab on the top right of the home page of the website and look at the drop down menu, click on "Your Grasshopper". Then just click the "register grasshopper" button and input the code on your box and the S/N on your grasshopper and you should be good. Unless your me that is. You should be good unless your me, then your fucked.

I don't want to come across like a dick but it's a bit frustrating when the longest it has worked is 2 month and now for some reason they want me to pay more and wait longer to get it working again, if this is the new norm I don't think I can be bothered with it, I love it and all but don't want to deal with long turn around time when that's the reason I bought from vapefiend in the first place, so this may be my last warranty before it goes in a draw to be forgotten about

YOU don't want to come across as a dick? The only one being a dick there is GHL.
How stupid does a company (and therefore, an actual person who's in charge) have to be?
Sometimes assholes do great things...
GHL made the Hopper... shame that they seem to also often be assholes.
Sorry for your experience, friend.

one of my hoppers 'sings' sometimes when i screw on the back end. almost sounds like someone starting to imitate a bomb drop... is that a bad sign//// it does seem to get more warm than my other hopper as well

I've had this happen once or twice only, and yes, whilst screwing in the backend. A very weird thing.
If that kind of thing happens at least half the time you screw it down, I'd call it to their attention. I say half the time only because that would give you fairly good odds that it will "sing" for them when they try it.

Was over at delta3d checking out the GH case and I think this was just added. Or maybe I never noticed it?
http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-mini-charging-dock/

I don't use the cable but still thought it looked pretty cool

I used to think this was a good idea, but, I don't like the idea of having the Hopper upside down while it has just been hot; resins dripping downwards towards the heater....

It'd be cool to have this little charging stand mounted upside-down... this way the Hopper hangs from it... It's magnetic so it won't fall off. Look kind of cool, too. @Ratchett , can you easily drill a couple of holes (one on each side) in that stand to allow for screws to mount it, say, under a shelf, for example?

got to try the bong adapter
nice!
What does the end of it look like? Does it have a similar/the same screen?
I've decided on getting a couple, Ti and SS

We just want to ensure you have the best possible experience and warranty trouble every few months is not the best possible experience.
That is a very interesting statement from HL...

I discovered my newest body has the new diagnostic contact on the PCB under the battery.
There was a pic of it earlier in the thread, it is an interesting addition and I believe the most obvious reason that whole units are being asked to be returned right now.

It is a strong step towards squashing the ongoing issues users are having, which although it has been frequent and wide-spread, isn't actually as terrible on average as is easily extrapolated.

just gotta chill
yeah man, glad to see it's now sorted!

received it today
I was going to say pics or it didn't happen.. then there were pics of another HT GH. Looking forward to hearing your verdict.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN
Yeah, that is fucking ridiculous. That should not have happened, that is incredible to me.
Hope you get it sorted fucking quick. HL owe it to you and their PR, I mean, seriously?! Wow.

the S/N is invalid
Is it possible you are entering it how they appeared on the store drop down as eg. "6755", try entering "GT006755" instead?

Just got my new ss grasshopper today. Wow I am impressed! The results I get from such a small device is amazing. Can I purchase a ti tip for my ss body? Wondering if ti mouthpiece stays cooler longer than my ss.

Stainless Grasshopper - $175.00
Titanium Grasshopper - $225.00

A new Front end tip cost $20 and then you have the shipping cost - why did you not just get the Ti?

Anyway i think it might help i guess.. i can ask my buddy that has both to test the SS tip on his Ti and come back with a better answer.

SSV w/ Standard HC, LSV HC, thermovape all,
just sent my SS hopper back for warranty repair after about 7 weeks of use, i click it on and blue comes on immediately with no heat, i am not digging the fact i ordered my TI hopper for Nov 2016 delivery and still waiting while they sell Heat treated Ti units for $350 that are available now..

Normally I don't encourage people to drill into my printed stands as it will weaken the structural integrity of the part (the inside is a honeycomb infill). However if you or anyone else would like to order a custom version of this stand with pre-made screw holes to mount it to a surface, I can absolutely do that, please PM me so we can discuss more

For $350 you should have been given a direct tel. number for questions about or service of your fancy Hopper. This is not too much to expect at this point. We're 3+ years in.

Just to illustrate the spectrum of possibles;
Yesterday I was trying to find out about a policy of LL Bean's, so I was all over the website and looking for FAQ's and such until I realized that their phone number was at the top of the page. I called (they answered on 2nd ring) and in less than ten minutes I had arranged a return and ordered a 'split pair' of shoes - two different sizes for L & R. Nancy in the shoe dept really knows her stuff, and sounds like she's actually from Maine. I also learned that the only way to order a split pair from them is over the phone! (50% up charge from pair price, btw, but Nancy applied the 25% off promotion that I had enjoyed from the original shoe purchase.)

I can't believe the shit i've been reading here over the past day. That heat treated one is repaired or refurb is my guess.... and the serial isn't matching. Screens missing in front ends?

Since it's $45usd to transfer a warranty, why can't I just change all the info to the buyer's and it's done for free? This is what i've been reading on reddit.

There's no basis in fact to thinking HL would put a refurb. for sale at their highest price point.
The serial number flummox probably has a simple explanation; some oversight with this custom line.

Your warranty question touches directly on the reason that another thread was titled "Ethics, Karma and the Grasshopper Warranty Discussion." The fact that something is possible doesn't means it's ethical or legal. see Drumpf

Until you have need for warranty, you don't need to register your Hopper. This leaves option open to sell or give it away, then the next person can register if needed.

There is no basis in fact for alot in this forum. It's my opinion (which is why I said guess), and it really wouldn't surprise me based on some of the bs i've been reading about.

Not sure what drumpf is, but after a quick search I don't give a fuck. Way too much politics in vape threads lately, even if it's little comments here and there about trump or woman's day or whatfuckingever.

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
I wonder how GHL will replace those custom anodized parts of the heat treated devices once they break, which sooner or later will be the case..
Hopefully they will treat those replacement parts accordingly to maintain the original look.... Otherwise it's blown money for a Frankenstein looking vape one day...:uhoh:
Good luck to all who took the plunge. Hope you'll keep us posted!

Yeah, but if you put GHL up against LL Bean that's like a rookie welterweight going up against a world heavyweight champ. Bean is the epitome of great CS and they've been doing it for decades. They got their shit down pat. (Yeah, I'm a big fan; although the quality of their zippers seems to have gone down in recent years.)

For those like me frustrated with performance issues (long bodies?)....and flickering blue leds...some snippets from reddit (from 8 months ago!):

Mine was doing this and it ended up being a shoddy connection between the back end and the battery. They actually physically shortened my hopper and gave me a new back end. When it occurred my clip ring on the back end would get really hot and it would also take longer than usual to heat up.

I'm finding the same with mine. one backend heats up intermittently but works if I take it off and put it back on. the blue light flickers towards the end of the battery. however, I have a 2nd backend that heats up every time and the blue lights flicker with a fresh battery and the clicking sound is there...the clicking sound is not present with the good backend when it's working properly.

A bad electrical connection in any device will cause overheating. GH is particularly prone to this as the body of the GH is part of the electrical circuit.

GH design makes it susceptible to these kind of problems.

The fact that they "shortened" the device means either poor QA or a design issue.

How many years have they been at it now, and still issues arising with QA and design?

Sounds like bodies being too long might be the latest issue needing warranty service.

@
moondog, forgive me I just tell it like it is, and two things that don't belong in the threads are politics and shills. And over the last day I have greatly smelled a shill. I will continue to both love and hate the GH, but i'm pretty sure i'm moving past it based on more impeccable CS stories.

Same screen, but the mouthpiece itself is longer and instead going down to a pen tip aperture, it's failry wide open, just tapering enough to mate with the water piece

With this I totally agree. For me the wild speculation is entertaining as I live down the street from GHL, been there many times and have seen the progress and improvement of this :horse::horse::horse::horse: crowd funded startup company (not to be confused with companies the budgets the size of small countries and staff greater than the population of small cities, so for example comparing GHL to LLBean is a recipe for disappointment, if you call GHL, that means a person has stopped what they were doing, which is either building a grasshopper, designing a refined part, repairing a grasshopper or fulfilling and order, to talk to you unlike LLBEAN, the person who answers the phone (who may or may not actually work for LLBean, in fact is more likely to be in a prison somewhere, at best a minimum wage call center, that's their only job, and they didn't have to stop making new shoes in a factory that is probably also not owned by LLbean, see the "subtle" difference?).

Anyway, has GHL been perfect, I don't think anyone says they have. However, negative experiences, which all products have is the overwhelming minority. That is a fact, though apparently, alternative facts are now acceptable.

The company is real people, working often seven days a week and have created in my opinion the best vape on the market, which like the other "best vapes" may not be any particular persons cup of tea.

I do think for the benefit of people coming here for information instead of alternative facts, folks should consider before they post is what they are providing, information based in fact or speculation because they are unhappy.

It's totally acceptable to not like the Grasshopper for any reason, and it's totally appropriate to criticize in a way that helps other make an informed decision without starting 5 pages of wild speculation. Here is an example.

The firefly 2 does have great flavor, however I don't prefer it because it requires stirring.

See how I never go into a conspiracy about firelfy being a shill for the toothpick industry?

And over the last day I have greatly smelled a shill.

@slcbdco - If you are going to quote him, quote all of his intent, eh?

I'm sorry, friend....but IMO you keep making excuses for them and there are those amongst us who just don't buy the "oh, they are a little start up, so we should accept all of this from HL".

I don't agree with this and never had....and I have worked for a number of tech start ups.

Cheers

I think the WP adapter will go well with the FC-Mod. In fact I just pulled out my FC-Mod and am loving it. I've been using the D020-D everyday and kept the mod in a cupboard. So silly! This thing goes really well with the GH!

I seem to have solved my 1 week spat of poor performance. I did two things.

1. Went back to 500mah charge rate instead of 300mah. ( Don't think this is it)

2. Brushed my backend threads forcefully with a MFLB brush and made it turn gray on the tip. I am religious with thread cleaning but I've until now only iso tipped + blu.

I'm now planning on buying some medium tooth brushes to use. I want to see how much more crap I can get off.

I guess you could say I'm back in love with my GH

And now I know it does a decent job at being a stand!

@slcbdco If you are going to quote him, quote enough to get his view in context.

By the by, I have worked for many start ups in my career and absolutely reject your excuses for HL behavior and product issues based on their status as a newer company.

I also have problems with the immedeatly blue lights when turning on and no heat. as someone mentioned to tap it on the table... I did thatmane then the lights act normal 5 secbred light then blue but thenvapor was very thin then it seemed like the temp dial, did not work.. it did not make a differnce when changing temp I always got very very thin vapor production... since yesterday it is again turning immideately blue with no heat.. mybe I should tell them before sending it in for warranty... does your heat change when you move the dial... it would be very frustrating ifnI would get 7t back them statingmlightsmaremworking correctmbut the vapor is very thin..

maybe we could have a thread about gh warranty ...
as far as I can tell blue light withoutmheating is nowadays very common as seen here and on reddit... (pure speculation)

so @moondog they send the gh with the immediately blue light no heat back to you saying it is working.. does it produce thin clouds did you try if you turn the temp dial are the clouds the same on every temp setting.. laybenthey only checked the lights and not if it is heating correctly as I said before some rattle and taping didmsolve also ly light issue but heat was weak akd therefore small clouds... so Imwillmdeffintlymtellmthemmthat hey alsomchecknthe heat...
