Very annoying! @MoltenTiger

At least our grinders are flawless! BCG4L

Honestly tho have to have hopper HOPE

:worms::bang:
sorry :(

I'm glad it's not up to me to fix it! I have much hope though.

things are ticking along, it'll pan out

In the mean time, it's all about cannabis anyway. And the BCG is super nice, stable and unchanging!

I love this photo.
Great illustration of the screw-in chamber/internals assembly.
If only they were all flawless!

@klipsch , I want to mention that with Splinter V1 I'm doing heatups of 5-8 seconds and enjoying volumes of clouds. I love the near-zero draw resistance. It's a little less portable than hopper, and there's a bit more technique involved, but for many instances it's become my go-to.

Are there any competitors to the Grasshopper in terms of nearly instant heat up time?

Nothing else even comes close if you ask me.

Not that long ago I'd have said the same. Now I own the SplinterZ and would beg to differ. If I use it on a water piece with wattage mode @60 Watt it's pretty much as fast and definitely as mighty. However, using it that way has a very high combustion risk which the Grasshopper doesn't have. If I use the SplinterZ with the (slightly tweaked*) mouthpiece @ around 40-45 Watts it's maybe 2 or 3 seconds slower to hit than the Hopper and there's still a little less comfort (stirring/mixing required) but it's inspiring confidence in a way the Hopper just doesn't, and it's pretty easy to avoid combustion. I haven't used the Hopper that often since I use the SplinterZ.

I owned a SplinterZ and sold it because it was basically just an unwieldy Milaana with more settings, and I believe once you get the hang of the Milaana temp control is kind of unnecessary. Not anywhere near comparable to a Grasshopper for me.

As soon as someone can show me a Splinter/Z/Milaana milk video that looks like any of these and then show the ABV isn't half black I'll admit I was totally wrong. Don't take this as me dissing the RBT line because I love it all, I just don't believe any of it can milk up a piece of glass like the Grasshopper without charring the shit out of at least part of the load. AJS has the best RBT milk vids I've seen and none of them compare to a big rip from the Hopper.

I have not spoken on this forum for months but now after a year my hopper has not died but gone into a state where it barely heats up

Would imagen its below the temperature needed to boil water at sea level

I done the clean and ISO wash with pressured air blown into it and left it exactly the same even through multiple batteries

Last months I been looking for a new portable vape but not interested in anything after reading reviews or comparison to the hopper

Think I might go for a firewood 5 but not in a hurry as I am sick of putting money in vapes

I think I might just ship it for repairs in the next weeks so at least I have a portable for summer/fall

My torch for the stickybrick died and my Enano has been acting strange for a single evening but not happened before

I just hate the fuzz with the others when the grasshopper is such an awesomely little thing that makes it easy to be stealthy and still get pwnd

Still no hopper slayer in sight

I got the StemPod out last night and had some enjoyable rips. It’d been a while so it was nice and the different signature was good.
But compared to the hopper... just not nearly as slick, energy efficient or powerful. Almost as fast and convenient though, despite the weight and size difference.
Both required the same amount of cooling, actually the hopper did better with the same dry glass. ABV came out pretty even between them with the SP charring just one load, but otherwise achieving the same tanned result after some monster rips.
Not totally deplete like the Sublimator manages, which of course I enjoyed too. But for portables, they definitely get you to good levels

My Hoppers all tick. Sometimes it's more noticeable than other times, but it's always audible if I listen closely. A lot of posters seem to be concerned about the ticking noise. I understand that this noise is actually one of the reasons that the Grasshopper got its name. My Pavlovian response to hearing the ticking sound is actually positive. I think that I would be concerned if I didn't hear the ticking.

I'm curious to know if you've every tried cleaning the back-end threads (both on the back-end and in the body where the back-end screws in) with Blu-Tack? I seem to get less back-end heat immediately after a cleaning, although the effect does not seem to last. And it could be due to removing and re-attaching the back-end.
I've never used blu-tack but I do clean my vapes often and thoroughly including the threads . I'm willing to try the blu-tack if it reduces the heat. My intended use for the hopper from day one was stealth and convenience not long sessions. If I'm out and need a quick couple of hits it is still amazing and never gets too hot to use. I'm sure if I tried to have multiple bowls it would get much too hot.

Are there any competitors to the Grasshopper in terms of nearly instant heat up time? From my research I've found the Firefly... I'm wondering if I've missed one or if that's it.
I've never found one but I was hoping someone else had. The best options are the concentrate units. My lynx hypnos and source slim had heat up times of 4 seconds and were noticeably smaller than the GH, plus they hold a charge much longer. unfortunately , I can't use concentrates any more...

I love the Source Slim. Indeed quick heatup time and you can prime it a bit by pressing the button a few seconds a few times before taking the first draw. I don’t do concentrate that much though and prefer flower.

I miss my GH. Hopefully I’ll see it again soon in working order. :peace:

I was determined to find a hopper substitute yesterday. Spent half the day researching log vapes and the plenty but ultimately ended up with 3 grasshoppers from the classifieds headed my way instead :doh::mental:
3? Used or new? Wow. We're all believers. At least I want to believe. Perhaps I should peruse the classifieds too in pursuit of the chase - lol.

When I purchased my pre-order Ti in '15 which didn't arrive in my hands until 16 months later in '16 I contemplated getting a second. I have just one. A good buddy of mine bought two pre-orders and I still have regrets not doing so. And the reason is that I do miss my Hopper A LOT as it bides its time in RMA purgatory. I could've bought a new SS since, got a second vape as a backup but the last half life of my Ti persuaded me otherwise with increasingly inconsistent performance, ghost pulls, hot backend and body and once-in-a-blue-moon hot frontend (I gave up using the slicone tip for several reasons so I use it natively and enjoy it). But there are so many great things about it when it works consistently well. That's what I'm holding out hope for again - and having a second vape in my stable again. We'll see. I'm hoping I'll have it back in a couple of months...:peace:

If you don't mind me asking, why do you prefer flower?

Up until vaping for the last 4-5 years, not exclusively but 99% of the time - I'll never say never to combustion but only once-in-a-blue-moon now that I've learned the many benefits of vaping after 35+ years torching green - I've grown accustomed to flower. Concentrate, which I've done rosin & shatter with my Source and oil, etc. with friends, is defintely heavier but lasts longer - and even after the pyschotropic effects wear off I still feel it physically especially at night. Like, there's still something inside of me. As it's name implies it packs a punch, for me anyway, though I don't do too much at one time. I'm not against it at all but it feels a whole lot different than flower, that's all. I've also gotten into edibles a bit lately, not regularly but I have on hand when the need arises.

Everyone needs to find their balance and sweet spot and I guess I'm just more comfortable with flower in that respect but open-minded when it comes to concentrate (and edibles). To each their own, experiment lightly and wisely...:leaf:

I'm not him, but I but I also prefer flower because I feel like it gives a more "full" high that seems to last longer. Concentrates get me insta-stoned but I feel like it goes away fairly quickly.
Not instantaneous for me but it does come on quickly and that's fine. Definitely a longer high that's for sure and it lingers longer for me anyway.

I usually have on hand more flower variety than concentrate which I could change but I enjoy the frequency of using flower. And I hate it when concentrate liquifies and accidentally spills out (gotta be careful to set down the vape upright and let it cool when done).

TGIF to all! :peace:

This is a move I've been thinking of making. If I get the funds I'm going for the cheaper one without the fan. Puffitup has it on sale right now for under 100 bucks. I really wish I had the funds right now. I think my usage is just too heavy for a portable as a daily driver.

Check out the Milaana. It's a portable that you can easily use as a daily driver. I've never had a single issue from mine and it was one of the first units publicly sold.
