I see you are being told that you need to re-read some posts because you obviously didn't read them or you misinterpreted and because you haven't read the whole thread. To me this appears to be argument for argument's sake.

Nice one, I should have expected it from you. What appears to be an argument for argument's sake is putting words in someone else's mouth, and saying things that are fabrication. Oh, and complaining about "complaining". All this shit about hating and complaining is what starts all this bullshit to begin with.

It's like a proper discussion about the device, and someone has to come in and yell "fight! fight!". Just stirring the pot and causing shit. Some people really need to grow up. We are all just sharing our experiences yet some people cannot accept reality.

We need @JoeMama back!

Both of you to your corners for 5 posts, you're both on time outs!

As for hopper news, here's another piece for the puzzle.....

As I've read all this talk about the lights flickering and when, I've been watching mine a little closer. I've always seen them, sometimes on a fresh battery (explained below) and kinda just assumed it was showing a weak or weakening battery level.

Today the battery started off at 4.12 and flickered after the first hit. What I found is that even after the flickering starts, holding the button down stops the flickering!

I got 5-1/2 hits this chamber while trying this.....

Hit 1 - primer hit, small to nothing for vapor, normal button, no flickering

2 - full tasty hit, nice vapor, normal button, flickering

3 - full tasty hit, great vapor, held button down in power position for whole heating, no flickering

Now I had to test....

4 - flavorful but wispy hit, normal button, flickering

5 - almost full hit, flavor diminishing but nice amount of vapor, held button down again, no flickering!

5.5 - chamber was pretty much dead, but I got a little whisper out, held the button down the entire time, may have flickered at the very end, or I may have let the pressure off the button.

There's a lot more testing to be done on this, but wanted to get it out there for anyone with this problem to watch.

I've always felt I was getting a better hit when she wasn't flickering, today I was paying attention and noticed it too.

By the way, the battery finished at 3.89v, it hadn't started flashing yet, but would have soon.

If I have one complaint about the GH, besides the obvious, it would be the batteries. I have 8, bought at three different times, all GHB2's. The first two came with the device and are noticeably the best, the still charge to 4.19 most times. The next 4 were bought shortly after the device, I waited for them, they're the worst, charge to 4.10-12 and die fast. The last 2 I got with my PFE and they're ok, but inconsistent. They charge all over the place and work the same.

Excited that this thing is sorta working again, now if it would only die! How ironic is that, I get it working a little, and I went it to die so I can send it in

If anyone else gets a chance to test this, let's hear about it.

What Caroline and I meant is that temp 3 is a higher temp than it used to be. If you're suggesting that temp 3 will be x on rip one the x+ on rip to that is not correct. The temp at each temperature is constant like the old version, each temp is just slightly higher than before that was the change

Combustion at any setting is an error of some kind. I have seen after using very resinous flower and not cleaning for a long time that the residual oil on the side of the chamber will smolder. If that smolders that runaway heat can crear combustion.

This is avoided by cleaning the oil build up, and i'm talking about a LOT of build up. Like several months of heavy use everyday without cleaning kind of build up.

If someone does have a combustion issue check that first. There is certainly not a software version where temperature can increase without changing the dial or that would allow combustion within normal operating.
I haven't been reading the previous posts but I am too also experiencing combustion at level 4 after I warrantied my unit about 3 weeks ago. It was fine for the past couple of weeks up until yesterday where it combusted at level 4. Strange as that has never happened before. Same flower had too.. had to clean up my bong/ hopper from nastyness

I wonder what kind of morale the company has with all of this going on half way through 2017 still. Even more interesting would be it's financials. They are located in Boulder, CO one of the most expensive towns in the nation to live and work.

Moral is pretty high. They had an employee party a few Sunday's ago to celebrate on demand delivery, it was fun time, Matt plays the guitar.

While I'm awake :) ,

I'm wondering - without anyone telling me to go and read the last 50 pages just to know....

Can someone offer me the answer to the following questions about the new front end please?

Is it "preferred" over the normal narrow front end, or is it for those who want to rip their faces off using water? I'm kind of tired of that "cloggy" experience periodically (granted that it may only be a clogged screen or just the way the material happens to "settle" inside the chamber).

Ideally, I'd like to not have to draw so ardently on the MP. Would the new "high performance" front end allow normal everyday use so as to simply forget the old MP for good? When is this new MP not preferred? I'm hoping the new MP allows for "faster" hits with easier draw without "missing" the regular cheek-puckering draw experience.

I know this is "several questions" but it's really just one: Should I get the new MP?

Much obliged!

Here is a perhaps not super helpful response.

You can use the PFE as a standard mouthpiece or replacement mouthpiece. It does have much greater airflow. Whether its a "better" mouthpiece like everything else grasshopper is individual and subjective.

Myself I only use the PFE with glass because I prefer the standard mouthpiece. Why? perhaps habit? I can't quite put my finger on it but for native use I still prefer the pen tip.

Many people prefer the PFE as a replacement mouthpiece however.

Thanks, slcbdco (you know, your name is very hard to pronounce.)

The only reservation I have with the PFE is that the flow may be too much; maybe chokingly so. I imagined that I may be able to take a 'slow but short, easy, unimpeded draw". I'll take your inputs well into the mix of possible responses.

Do you know what the temps are now then? Do they plan to change them back? Why did they increase them? What is max temp now instead of the 210c? Combustion occurs at about 230c IIRC. Figured you would know the answers to these questions, and if not do you mind popping in and asking for us, maybe on one of your awesome food truck lunches? :brow:

You don't need to read the past 50 dude, but if you just do a quick search you'll find the info you're looking for. Some dig it some don't, easier to clean, but needs cleaning more often. Lots of talk on it.

The draw is definitely much better. However, mine gets hot as fuck (hotter than the original MP). The silicone doesn't really fit it and now I can't find the silicone...

ETA:
Ok, scratch that. Managed to find the silicone several minutes into a session. You can make it work and, if yours gets as hot as mine, it makes a huge difference.

@JoeMama:

About the PFE, I agree with @Mr Mellish, better airflow but it gets hot quicker. The better airflow isn't enough of a difference for me to prefer using it native, but it seems to be the way to go with water even though I can't test it yet.

If you are sensitive to airflow it's probably easier to justify the purchase. In that case, even a small improvement would be well worth it. For me, it's not as big of a concern, the airflow with the stock mouthpiece is acceptable.

Hey, Joe! (not the song, the mama...)
I love the pfe. I picked one up when they were first released a couple of months ago.
Use is currently about 50/50 dry and water.
Wife and I have 1 SS hopper and 1 Ti. I got tired of trying to tell them apart, so now their parts all co-mingle at random. But we only have 1 pfe (ss) so far, and that's the mp I use all the time, regardless.
It definitely stays cleaner longer. It may be that with water (i.e., higher temp use) it will need a little more attention, for buildup inside the outflow end of the pfe. It will get some sticky in there, but doesn't typically get drippy like the standard mp will with hot inverted use.
I've been using the little bottle HL sells for a bit of a soak, then quick a swab and move on. It's pretty near effortless.
There are no funnels inside and the screen is set differently, not as many places to collect/hold oils.
The screen can not work itself loose like the standard can. The standard can get stuck to the body and loosen when mp is unscrewed because they share the same thread way inside the mp. The pfe has a fixed ring inside that separates the screen from the body, greatly reducing risk of clogged threads. And forget those precision tweezers!
The standard is fussy in that small amount of flower will clog threads easily and clog screen sooner than with pfe. If that is one of the sources of your draw frustration, order a pfe right away!

The draw is less restricted, a little smoother with the pfe, but one additional comment I can make is about general draw restriction that can creep in over time with hoppers. The last couple of rma'd hoppers have come back with better draw that when they went to hospital. I don't think it's better than a clean/never-used hopper, rather the insides had become clogged somehow (I think...?). So it could be that your current hard draw is due to that internal clog. I was very worried a while back, that this would be the 'Achille's Heel' of all hoppers, but the most recent iterations have been good about draw for months now... (to empty, I rap it on wood and often take one hard draw with mp off, to hopefully suck out lingering debris). And I've pretty much stopped using iso inside the chamber, but I don't know for certain if this is helping.

My original impression was that pfe stays cooler after a few draws, but this is only minimally true. It will get hot if you take some hits in succession just like the standard, though the first 2-3 will be a bit insulated due to the sheer mass of the pfe. Then it will take a little longer to cool.
Having dis-assembled a standard mp occasionally, I've seen the extra unseen buildup inside and caught between the parts. I really don't like that aspect of the standard.
I'll be ordering another pfe along with next rma (to get free shipping, that's how I've done all accessories). But we haven't had a breakdown for a while now, I may have to pony up! to get another.

I also have the PFE and use it more than the standard MP but I use my GH mostly with a J hook or on some glass. I do not particularly like the PFE for native use as I mine gets rather hot and I prefer the standard MP with the silicone prophylactic. Some others do not find it to get too hot, mine does.

I have been using the new FPE on both my SS and Titanium units for the last week or so. I do not use it with glass, but have replaced the original MP with these. I like them a lot. Much less draw resistance. Much cooler to the touch. Experimenting, I've tried heavy inhalation draws and light inhalation draws. Long, deep draws were pretty massive (I use temp setting 5). I have found taking shorter draws (6 a 8 seconds) are optimal for me - I did find if I tried to take lighter inhalation in the draw with the FPE the autoshutoff kicked on.

My spouse even commented on how much cooler it draws with the FPE than the old MP.

I like it a lot.

This is one of the easiest portables that I've used. Not having to stir and having even ABV plus great vapor flavor. It's very easy to maintain which makes this unit one of my favorites. I like ease of use and easy to clean. There doesn't seem to be a build up of resin on the inside of the oven. I just dump my ABV and the screen comes clean.

Its good for on the go but also at home using a water tool, you don't even need a GonG if your tool is 14mm. It's great just plain dry. Whatever way you decide to use this little portable is the right way.

It's a very convenient unit for the medical patient or the recreational user that's out on the night. It does not draw attention to itself other than the blue or red lights. It's easily hidden by your fingers anyways.

It really is an incredible vape when it comes to those points ... and some of those are often overlooked. This vape is just so convenient. Power and stealth are often the topics of choice but there's tons of pros with this lil guy.
Can't see myself ever selling it.

I have a ss hopper that I love. The problem I have is I can never get the abv to brown, only a pale green color. I can extract everything at 4-4.2 then try 1 hit at 5 and get very little extra out if it. If I then take that abv and put it in another vape at around 200, I have tried several, I get lots more hits out of it. Abv also comes out a more suitable color. I have delayed the process and the effect is very noticeable from the spent gh abv in another vape.

Backend gets hot

Sometimes straight to red led but has never failed me, always able to resolve with a power cycle/ backend remove etc.

Do you think this sounds like a poor performing hopper?

@ktmstick it sounds like your hopper isn't getting hot enough. The ABV should be turning a darker brown color. You maybe should think about sending it in for a warranty. A pale green color isn't good, you still have a lot of active ingredients in your herb still. Have you tried using a different battery?

almost there

It's definitely underperforming but I'm not sure if sending it in will help. I have sent mine in for similar issues and it didn't come back much better. I just sent it back to HL again so hopefully all that will be resolved finally. I'll let u know after it gets back if it's worth getting the RMA.
