Sorry you are sans hopper atm, but try to re-connect with your old vapes! maybe some surprises!

Thanks bro, and there have been... I hate them all! Have you seen the Classifieds lately? The GH has ruined vapes for me....I compare everything to it, and if it doesn't match or exceed, i'm just not satisfied. I have a Supreme 3 coming to join the hopper clan...but i'll probably have my hoppers back before it lands. I just really miss my hoppers, and so do my lungs.

That's some hefty postage! I feel for ya; it's been one of the easier parts, for me. see below.

Another benefit of living within the same borders of the manufacturer. Why couldn't have Arizer thought of this?? I don't mind paying the dough to ship cross border, as long as it doesn't get ridiculous. I can't see myself being patient enough to deal with 10 rma's that's forsure!

And my go-to tool is the wooden toothpick, as much to gently cajole material down the funnel into Hopper as to coax it out later.

I guess I use somewhat of a toothpick as well, only it's stainless steel and came from the Arizer Air kit. I love the teeny little scoop at one end, and straight pokey on the other. I use the scoop end to get right under a load a pop it out, or the straight pokey end to gently lightly push material down with precision.

The back end clip works a treat as well, but I don't like unscrewing it just for that purpose.

Hey all, I'm about to pull the trigger and pick me up one of these little trouble makers. Seems like more folks with the Ti than SS, is that just personal preference? Are there differences in failure rates between the 2? I'm trying to be frugal and go the economical route, if there is a legitimate reason to pay the extra $50 I'd be willing to do that. From the Hooper site I can't really tell the difference, maybe the Ti is more matte? I do love the look of the bronze Ti but I've read the color Ti scratches very easily, is that so?
There's a slight weight difference between the two (the ss is a little heavier). The ti is supposed to have different thermal properties (the body and mouthpiece is supposed to cool down a little faster).

Personally, unless you have your heart set on a color, I'd recommend saving your $$$ and get the ss. Use the extra cash on batteries (I suggest you have at least 3), and other goodies (like an external charger and great gh stuff from @Ratchett ).

I don't think we've done a reliability comparison between the ss and ti, so can't help you there.

But decide fast, before the price increase!

HI guys - ordered another four batteries today as the four I have are the original GHB1's that shipped with the device. I'm down to two loads on a battery at about 4.2 or so on the temp gauge.

Has the group concluded that the GHB2's are better than the 1's? Do they hold charge longer or are more durable and degrade more slowly or are they pretty much the same?

Also, I should certainly hope by this time that accessory orders are not still tied up with GH back order ship dates and I no longer need to send Caroline an email with my order # telling her its just batteries. Right...I don't have to do that anymore?

Thanks

When I tap mine on the sides near the heater vent holes there seems to be a rattle like
something is loose or misaligned.....Any one else?
Also the lights are much more noticeable on one side(2-3 holes)....dimmed on others??
Works great.....SO FAR..SO GOOD!! 2 weeks in with the SS.

sorry I get no rattle on either of two, or any of the many other bodies I've had through rma.
But yes, the lights come out stronger thru just a couple or 3 holes while very little on the other side. I use this to advantage in some situations!

But wait! Now I recall rattle in front end when my SS Hopper was about two weeks old! It was the front end's screen, which had become just a little loose. Sometimes resin on that screen will fuse it to the Body proper and the screen then gets backed out of its' seat when the mouthpiece is loosened. Had to get the precision tweezers to snug it down. So it could be that. Try taking mp off and see if rattle is in there vs in body?

@Receptor
Here is my Story. I hope it helps.
Best regards

This is my SS hopper I got in mid' December 2016.
Serial is in the early #6xxx.

The body makes a strange rattling noise out of the box and I swear I never dropped it and no ISO leaked in there.
As my daily driver it has seen a lot of bowls since i got it and it n.e.v.e.r failed.

I checked with a very strong magnet if this stops the rattling noise but it didn't help. So I think it is nothing made out of metal in there which can cause a short circuit on the pcb.

Any ideas if i should be worried about it although the hopper performs like a champ? I've got 2 TI's as well so I can compare if a hopper performes badly - but this SS hopper is defenitely a beast (but no combustion)!

I will ask Caroline and report back. I guess ist a flaky heater (3D printed CERAMIC if I remember correctly?!)

But maybe its just the soul of my hopper and Caroline confirms it as "absolutely okay"

I got a message from Caroline:

"[...] In regards to the rattle, I showed the video to the team and they would like to have you send it to us for service. In order for you to do so, please submit a warranty request on GHVape.com and I will get this processed for you and send you instructions for how to return the device to us. Unfortunately, Verdampftnochmal doesn’t have the ability to test the device or knowledge about what could cause this error.

We are happy that they are assisting you with your other Hopper troubles, but would like to have you send this Hopper to us for service."

Hmmm....Perhaps they are just curious... Or they are just careful. But now i'm worried about the rattle noise. They want to take my hoppers' soul away :brow:

I will send it in, BUT i cant register my hopper because of the error "serial nr not found " on the website. So Caroline got another mail. THAT'S frustrating. When I RMA'd my other broken hoppers to verdampftnochmal, I usually get them back within a week.

Now its almost a week and nothing happend but 2 mails from me and 1 from Caroline. That's such a slow CS. Nice to have 2 backup hoppers.:science:

@ GERMAN HOPPER USERS WHO HAD WARRANTY EXPERIENCES WITH HL: how did you ship it and how long took the whole process till you got your hopper back? I'm afraid of the costs, what about insurance as well ?

Hello,

What a great day.
This was the solution with my rattling hopper.

I removed the heater screen and 2 pieces of metal (hopper crap) came out. They laid on the blue heater when i looked into the chamber.

It was a little bit tricky to get the heater screen back in place but i got it.

Hopper is back in business.

Now something different.

Today I was at the German customs to get my battery order.
This was a shitty situation when the custom guy told me: "There's NO "CE"-mark on it. And you ordered 13 pieces. I think you are a seller, maybe on ebay? I won't give them to you."

I was shocked and told him, these are batteries for my e-cigarette and that they are only for myself.
If i had told him the truth (5 batteries are for my buddy) then he would NOT have given them to me. (NO CE mark on it means "no quality standard tests passed" and If I sold them, I would be punishable). At the end he gave them to me, because I promised, that these "dangerous" batteries are only for myself.

He told me 3 times, I should send them back to the USA and use PayPal to get my money back.

He told me also, that CE mark should also be known in the USA.
Hopper labs should fix this ASAP. Otherwise I see many angry customers because they have problems with the customs.

I will send Caroline a message. On the hopper box there is a CE mark. Are they just stupid?

I'm very happy that i bought my devices at a retail shop here in Germany.

You have one of the HL alternate mouthpieces too? I went from using my grasshoppper on a bong maybe once or twice a week to now, one of my grasshoppers just lives on my bong!

Have you used the alternate mouthpiece native yet? I never had a problem with it being too hot for my lips but I bet many people will just use that as their mouthpiece all the time if they prefer the extra air flow or cooler tip.
Don't own one.. yet. Got the fortunate chance to test one out a couple times though :D

Ya, I tried it native and it was alright.. I prefer the Normal FE when not paired with glass. But ya, I foresee some people enjoying it more.

I'm picking one up IMMEDIATELY :freak:

The 2's are being manufactured in smaller batches for better QC so we should be seeing less batt issues. My ghb2's are not showing any sign of degradation.. so far so good.. but neither is my ghb1 that I treated properly from the get go. I only use the stock usb charger, don't leave on charger/over charge, charge as often as possible and never fully drain my batts.

Unfortunately hopper batts are made in China and i'm pretty sure lithium ion batts(or all imported batts) have received new import regulations to the US. Hopper can order as many batts as they like but they could get stuck in customs for a hawt minute. So ya, you should email China and not Caroline ;)

Is there a better GH technique, for Keif use, other than the "Kief Sandwich" ?

Reddit Guide to GH said:
Loading a chamber for Concentrates or Kief
  1. Make a base layer of dry herb or cotton inside the base of the chamber
  2. On top of the base layer put your concentrate or kief. (I highly recommend using dry herb if you are loading kief.)
  3. Add another layer of dry herb or cotton on top of your concentrate or kief. This is called "the sandwich method"

thanks @Mr. Me2, I'm gonna hold out till the end of Sunday in case those stainless steel cases come in. Is 2 additional batteries enough or you advise 3? Placed an order back in December and wimped out because of the long wait. Never lost interest though, think it might be safe now to make that leap:p. Wish me luck that I won't get a lemon, I've been an extra good boy this year so far:D

Fingers crossed for you!

And for me, 3 batteries total works fine. I have @Ratchett's gh leather case which has sleeves for 2 batteries so it's easy to store and rotate them. But the number that's right for you depends more on your use. I think the gh works best as a solo vape and that's how I use mine.

To add to your # of batteries decision, they're fairly cheap and ghl shipping ain't cheap. But batteries degrade over time even if not used (I'm no expert on this and there are others here that are). I think it's more reasonable to expect to need to order replacement batteries within about a year.

Btw, don't hold your breath for that ss case... I think people will see the leather sleeve way before that case. Just my :2c: on that. I cancelled my ss case order long ago.

Is there no way they could make a capsule like Storz & Bickel did? I always wondered would the Mighty caps fit the hopper because with that you had the same worry kief going through into the oven subjected to higher temperatures maybe burning in the process. With the caps from S&B i screen both ends just to make ultra sure.

Or do they have other plans? Would love to know what can be added here with thier machining capabilitys.

Every hit I have to wait for cop lights to stop. Planning on buying a new GH Monday so I will RMA when it arrives. That way I don't have to go back to my Solo

OMG you DIDN'T!? Just sayin...

As soon as my EVO sells, if my GH RMA's aren't back yet I will have no choice but to go back to the archaic Solo! That's so uncivilized it's practically combustion! :D There is a reason that many are contemplating a third GH.... nobody can stand the thought of being Hopperless.... can you imagine what i'm going through right now?? Not much different than say, taking the internet away

I sure wasn't appreciating the EVO's heat up time at 3am last night when I woke up with a bang and that was that for sleep for the night. And this morning I was bitched at because of a "whistling sound in the middle of the night"!?

Once you've hopped it's hard to stop.. Again a true testament to the hoppers powers and abilities.

I think this last statement will pop up more frequently in the "Pro" column of the hopper.

"Next on Dr. Phil, how the Hopper saved my relationship".. It's small, takes up minimal space and not the whole dining room table, doesn't smell and can crush a bowl in T-minus.. no more 10 minute sessions pre-going out for dinner, etc.. "Da Fuq is taking sooo long!! ..I'll meet you at the restaurant slow ass.":goon:

Should equate to much less bitching in the ears of hopper users from non-vape users. Also, they'll be much more stoked on regaining the minutes you have sucked from their soul whilst waiting for your bag to inflate

Old & In the Way
Got the Ti back from HL yesterday and this service experience had a couple of notable differences compared to my previous.
There was one communication that said it had been repaired and sent on to final testing. All of my previous had stated something more like, 'new body has been sent' (as opposed to repaired). This hopper came back as same shell, front end and backend serial, but the temp dial is very smooth. I think it was my crunchier one before this, but it is getting pretty confusing with all the backs and forths.
I am very encouraged that a repair was effected rather than a replacement, and I think this points to a sustainable company going forward.

This Ti now rips like crazy and it was a huge revelation after only two weeks without this one, just how much I was compromising with the Hopper I was left to use. Besides it's straight to blue syndrome (which comes and goes) it has developed a LOT of draw restriction while never developing the amounts of heat/vape as this Ti and I can tell that now that the Ti is back from hospital. Mr. SS will be going back this week, as its rma is already authorized because of the straight to blue. I want to know why the thing feels clogged -- and it's in the body; mp is fine. I tried like a demon last night, while Hopper was on charger, leaving on temp 5, empty, taking quick hot draws, then tapping hopper on wood more big hot draws -- hopper stayed on and got hot and I did that for well over a minute, hoping to deep clean the insides (okay I have used some kief at times...) but I don't think any of that helped. Poked the chamber screen with a needle while holding inverted but didn't see any particles or dust come out.

I'm beginning to think one of the Achilles heels of hopper in the longer term may be that internals can get gunked and require some non-user friendly cleaning process.

@biohacker I'm looking forward to hearing how your hoppers all function! Have you looked at their individual service record? Do they say 'repaired' or 'new ___ shipped' ? If any new backends, have the new s/n been entered in your My Grasshopper list? I really like their interface for the process.

Overall, I am stoked having the Ti back, to see and enjoy what I was apparently missing!

All 3 RMA's received new backends with new serial numbers automatically input into my account. One RMA also received a new front end. I'm anticipating my current ss RMA to get a new backend as well as body. That ss had the straight to blue like you, and somewhat of a draw restriction as well, as did my og Ti. I assumed that the newer GH's just were improved with better airflow, but my og's are 8 months old so maybe you're on to something about "buildup".

I feel like a lost puppy without my gh's....

Done!!! Followed everything you said- ss hopper, 2 spare batteries, though I wanted a case I don't need the headache of counting down days till it's in stock. Just made the purchase!!! Thanks for all the pointers, I'll hopefully have good things to report. One last question if I may. I skimmed thru all the cheap bubbler and glass threads already but still need some advice. What's the cheapest, smallest functional water piece I can buy for the hopper and use with my vapcap. I was thinking D020 but that needs an adapter from what I could tell, anything that's 14mm ready? Thanks again @Mr. Me2

Personally I think it looks like it will break in about 5 seconds but it's cheap, small, has 14mm female GonG will work with both VapCap and GrassHopper without need for adapters.

Ha this one looks cute as hell! I like the stealth factor!

Forgot to mention, I personally spent a little more and went with an MFLB Orbiter and have not regretted it at all but I did have to get @Oregonglassblower to make me a custom stem as I wasn't into the whole whip thing.

Think I'll go with old faithful, D020. I get dizzy going thru the glass terminology. I'm sorely tempted by the dinosaur:D but something looking like that is just asking for trouble if there's kid's around;)
