I think you're on to something here ... I've "noticed" read: thought I noticed then was too birdy to follow up with a thesis let alone an experiment, that I think there has been a difference in heat based on material.

I frequently vape a mix of herbs (multi herbs non cannabis) and tobacco and "noticed" the mouthpiece felt hotter then when I vape just cannabis which I "attributed" to the relative dryness of the other material compared to Cannabis.

It's also possible that it might be a issue of how much is packed in as those non-Cannabis bowls I usually pack more in.

I'll try to actually notice. #science

Cool, sounds like we need more testing and testers.

I know just the people for the job! Go team FC Hoppers! :science:

So my SS started to blink red and blue while heating up now all of a sudden, still kinda works but that is the failure signal isn't it? Back end can kinda get hot inconsistently but moreso with those siren lights maybe... Could be a bad back end? The contact does seem slightly uneven and the dial always was rather tight to turn. Been less than two weeks only, but maybe I need to fill out the warranty form on it? Feeling kinda lazy about dealing with it, I do have a Blue Ti only used for one bowl at least (not to mention plenty of other vapes lol) Oh well maybe I'll keep trying to use it like this to test how it is working now even further...

Welp next test with herb resulted in it staying red for a good while over the 5-10sec norm and smoke pouring out of airholes, from the bottom of the load or the heater perhaps since it didn't look too bad emptied but smelled really bad. Just turning on again it's back to red and blue flashing nothing else so I'll just have to fill out the warranty form I guess and see what they say. Oh well, on to the blue Ti then, this is why spares are useful for a good portable vape...

Ok I've been trying to read up on the thread and find some actual info on using the hopper which is little difficult with all the issues and delays and all that but I got a second hand hopper and been having some issues..I have talked with hopper and the warranty isn't transferable but I think they are gonna work with me..I seem to turn it on and it will take about 7 second to turn blue but when it does it kinda blinks blue? And I'll take hit and click off but buy 3 rd hit or so it will just stay red and not turn to blue? It's weird because it seems to work for first hit or two..nothing big or anything..but maybe I'm not packing it right or something??i mean I've got plenty of vape experience so I know what I'm doing..kind loose pack maybe a third full maybe half?? Would this be a battery issue or I dunno??i jumped the gun and should have waited one more day to get a new one from vaposhop..

Contact the seller and ask him to open a warranty request for u, maybe hes nice enough to do it..

More complicated than that..didn't realize what the deal was but its all on me.. I didn't due my due diligence in researching how the warranty process worked because I wouldn't expect the seller to keep warranting a product like this...which can be awesome but we all know the deal...most other vape companies will work with you and I'm hoping hopper labs will work with me..it's obviouly was purchased legit at one point and its in perfect shape so no damage would hate for it to become a paperweight...lol..but just wanted to know if anyone knew what my issue with the lights and such?

bummer! any combustion means your temp sensor is probably blown out :-( that is a warranty claim, as I said back on probably like page 5 of this thread, and you now know, the solution to all hopper problems is another hopper ....

Sorry to joke but at least you do have another one on deck! It is a nice relief

@BuzzDanklin are you saying it feels cooler with more bud in it or less? I didn't have the opportunity to "notice" today ... oh I spent most of the day at the GIM I just didn't "notice" anything #birdhead

It should feel cooler with more herbs in and I think that that's what he said as well..

Want to do a short comparison after owning the Milaana for a few days.

Portability - Hopper hands down. The separate stem and always on battery make transporting the Milaana infinitely more difficult than throwing a pen in your pocket.

Taste - Milaana by a hair. First hit or two is just a hair better in the Milaana, I'm guessing because there's an actual air path.

Clouds - Pretty much tied. Quicker with Milaana but easier to achieve (no thinking) with Grasshopper.

Efficiency - Tied. Hopper is easier to extract fully quickly though. No thinking at all with the Hopper just grip it and rip it.

Battery life - Close but if you get a 3000mah battery with the Milaana it will probably last a bowl or two more. Both have easily swappable batteries though so not a big deal to me either way.

Looks - Hopper by a mile and a half. Milaana is kinda cool looking but the workmanship is severely lacking on my production model. Burn marks, scuffs, vice imprints, uneven sanding, scratches, etc.

Durability - I know the hopper has a lot of failures but I'm basing this just on my personal experience. Gotta give it to the Hopper. I feel like I have to be extremely careful with the Milaana because of the glass parts.

Ease of use - Grasshopper hands down. Don't have to explain how to hit it to friends just tell them to rip it like a bong and they'll get a great hit every time. Have to do a little coaching with the Milaana but everyone has gotten decent results so far with only one case of near combustion.

Let me know if you guys have any other questions comparing the two.

also how is the harshness hotness of vapor between this two vapes?

I find the GH to be much more hot and harsh with lower vapor quality, simply due to the design, material, and technological differences between them. I also find the Milaana battery life to be double or triple even with a 2500mah battery, and find durability superior for the simplistic design (though yes metal is more durable than glass in general, and GH more self-contained and portable overall)

Comparisons should be fine as long as they are framed toward a discussion about the vape whose thread it is in. Both are excellent on demand convection portables, but there are a number of pros and cons, easily gathered by reading various user reviews of each. Can't go wrong with getting both though!:brow::2c:

Bringing it back to GH, for temp control and super mobility GH is the option with sacrifice of battery and heat, just something to plan for and develop your own techniques to deal with it. Extremely useful for many people to vape on the go, plus it's got the power and efficiency, important for any great vape imo (all the tiny parts involved make for a more complex device though, and a back up is very useful as I already found out... still want to see this tech without the limits of the pen form factor honestly)

Don't mean to change the subject but I've been growing more concerned over the actual durability of the hopper based on reviews I've read...seems like most owners have had issues. I do get the concept that only peeps with busted hoppers will post but can anyone out there actually vouch for having a solid hopper for more than say 6 months? Meaning no warranties or issues at all really...just wondering:)

Obviously lifetime warranty so all is good but thought it worth asking..

Also, just wondering if anyone has tried the hopper with a lil wax or something similar wrapped in some herb..does it gunk it up?

I'd say it's hit and miss. I bought 2 Ti Hoppers 3 months ago, one for me and one for my mate. I've had 2 warranty claims already, his has been problem free....

That said, the warranty claims have been hassle free and fast. I have no regrets and will buy another.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Whaaaaaaaaat?!

Ah sheesh! You see, I did try to warn you :mental:

You can throw yours in your pocket? I'm finding the hopper button, after more than six months w/ mine, is my least favorite feature, partially cause I have to think about where I leave my hopper every time. While pen-like, the hopper button is much higher above the clip than a normal pen. It fits nice clipped into my jeans pocket, but if I forget to take it out before I sit down (heck sometimes just bending down to reach something is all it takes) I can easily turn it on as the top gets pushed into me. Similar problem I can't just throw it into my cloth bag w/o somehow protecting from button presses.

Also could do w/o 2 loud clicks for every draw, and if I want to use 1-handed I have to hold it just right to be able to jam it into my pinkie and turn off mid draw.

Love the Hopper heater tech (tho backend short is killing my performance, so it sits waiting for warranty return #7 as I can't compare it to my face-stealing Milaana in it's current condition) and looking forward to new designs in the future - hoping for a palmable form factor w/ a non-clicking single-button interface.

Well, to be fair you can take the battery out of GH as a fail-safe power safety switch like is recommended in Milaana. Though both I have had in my pocket okay, I agree about the clicker vs button in every other way regardless.

Another thing I would mention is GH is self-contained and all that easy to pocket, but I did find the sharp precision cut holes to be a real magnet for dust and lint. Especially with the mouthpiece once it got sticky, things would get in there and stick to the tip a decent amount, so a cap or case would be nice though being able to pocket a fully loaded pen is a big part of the convenience. So ultimately I feel like there is still a lot to think about here too though

And yeah like we both said I think it would be better in every way with a different form factor, bc there's a lot of greatness here that is unnecessarily limited in my experience so far. GH has ultimate stealth hiding in plain sight as a pen, but in use taking hits, I actually find the Milaana far stealthier personally

I don't see mention of the hidden "stealth mode" anymore. The Grasshopper is capable of turning on without fully depressing the clicker, making it silent.

If I remember correctly somebody asked HL about it a while ago and they didn't recommend doing it. I wonder if they were just trying to cover their ass and didn't know if it was a bad thing or not.

Does anyone still do this?

I didn't find that to be consistent really, was afraid to try it much actually, didn't seem good for the mechanism at all (I did have one person try to hit it like that though, they didn't realize I was telling them to fully click it on then off when done, they were treating it like a trigger and it didn't work well for that since it is not designed for it) so a proper trigger could be

@Shit Snacks

Thanks for the response! I figured it was too good to be true. I definitely plan on trying it once when I get mine just because I like to experiment with my vapes. If it feels like you describe I'm sure I won't want to use the Grasshopper like that again.

Yeah give it a shot, testing is why we're here. You'll see when you get it, the way it works the whole body is used for the electricity to move through. You can kind of feel it in the clicker and everywhere, so that gave me pause, felt risky in a sense. Very cool shit though

Care to elaborate? To me this makes zero sense.

I can't hide it in my hand like I can Milaana. Walking around the city in use, I could see more people taking notice when I hit the hopper than the Milaana, maybe where the sexy looks can be a negative (like even as a pen, if I saw that on a desk I'd want to pick it up and inspect for sure). It looks like a pen, but people don't inhale from pens, when I inhale from Mi it is clutched in my fist hidden very well imo, the length of GH makes it more exposed and the fact that I need to reach the clicker whereas the button on Mi is more ergonomic in use. Then the fact that GH has led lights and the loudness of the clicker, both still easy to take rips indoors wherever, but like in a movie theater for example Milaana was better (silent and actually a bit quicker to hit as well), even in a car I feel like its been more stealth for me where the grasshopper is a bit more flagrant in use. There are ways to offset and hide GH better I'm sure, but in my experience with both I have found it less ergonomically stealth in use out and about, despite it being easier to just grab and go

My Hopper's backend (old style, I think) burst its seams a bit when I was rotating the dial earlier. It didn't completely pop open and spew parts everywhere, but the band around it popped out a slight bit. It's also now a lot rougher when I try to turn the dial, getting stuck in some places.

I know some people have experienced similar problems in the past. What was the verdict? I assume I'll have to send in my backend.

I've had my Hopper since Nov 2015.

Warranty claim and a replacement with back end V2. That's the exact reason they changed the design. They will ask for the complete hopper so they can check there are no issues with the front end whilst they are dealing with it.

But from distance doesnt it look like a a type of e-cig. Why do you have to hide it. e-cigs are legal. To me thats where its stealth comes from
