In other news my newest replacement has already stopped working It turns red for 15 seconds and then turns off..... Wtf.
Maybe not on purpose, but several have reported them flying apart on their own...AFAIK no one has done a complete strip down of the unit.
It did fine with small nuggets... Though they sometimes would get caught up when trying to clean the bowl, and you'd need a toothpick or pick of sorts to help clean it out. I usually used rough ground flower, I think I got bigger hits out of that (probably more flower, faster convection from more surface area)? How does it perform when not grinding the herb? I'm interested to know how it does just pinching off a nugg (or piece of one) and stuffing it in, sans any breakdown.
Thx

What charger were you using? We're you using their charger cable? This is the same issue I was having. I sent it back, and after testing, was told "The only problem is that the battery is dead. Try using a different charger." I did, and haven't had any more problems.
@grokit My friend recently placed his pre-order and added 3 or 4 extra batteries, and he got a notice saying that the batteries were out of stock. Maybe that is the case?
I was using a cheap USB wall block that had come from some other device, with the GH cable plugged into it. I never figured out if the problem with it was electrical or mechanical (i.e. a bad connection on the USB cable, etc.) But I started using a different generic USB wall block that had come with some other device, and so far, so good. What charger were you using? We're you using their charger cable?
This is purely hypothetical and there is absolutely no basis for the statement I'm about to make, but maybe they're programming a corresponding light change to a certain error or problem that they fix when it's sent back for diagnosis.2 of my 3 did that too. First one after a few months, and second one after a week.
I did. When I backed, I ordered an extra battery. When I became reasonably sure that the Hopper was really going to ship, I added two more. Then, when there was a rash of "I canceled my pre-order, and here's why you should, too!" posts, I ordered four more, just in case the haters were successful in driving GHL out of business.Everybody's stocking up on batteries like it's the end of the world I bet hahaha
I don't see why the backend threads would ever get dirty. Mine never have. The front end threads can, of course, but that's easily taken care of with a Q-tip and a little ISO. The Hopper is extremely easy to clean, IMHO.Yeah your right about the mouthpiece. I was liking ti to the mechanical mods we use in the vape world where the thread on top and bottom do matter. The backend thread does matter though and I would still recommend cleaning the threads when you first get it and every so often as you use it.
(and likely causing that sludge that people found and reported weeks ago)Is there a spring in the hopper for the battery contact? I'm wondering if in some cases the contact on the back end isn't perfect and you are getting some arcing causing the heat buildup.
Ok. Two hoppers here. One SS, one Ti. The SS's back end has a short burst of heat once clicked on, then gets rapidly hotter once I start drawing, to the point of being unbearable to touch. Still testing to see if it's avoidable by holding the hopper without gripping it so much.
Was this the same experience as the ppl who had the infamous back end issue? The ti unit doesn't have this heat surge.
We've got all 6 extra batteries we ordered but are missing a bunch of extra mouthpieces, an extra charger lead and an extra leather sleeve.
Other than a potential heat issue, it's an incredible vaporizer (But then so was my Pinnacle pro until it melted ). Really hope any issues can be resolved. Gonna email Caroline in a moment.
Edit: just had the really fast ticking noise, was happening while charging. Unplugged the charger, plugged it back in, and the ticking ceased.
I'd stop using the SS hopper until you replace that backend - it's certainly defective. The only part of your Hopper that should get hot is the front-end, not the clicker.
In other news, Leather cases are done..... Special announcement coming soon......
I gotta add that I love this thing, I have some great plug-in vapes and I can't stop using this at home!
No, there is no spring. Is there a spring in the hopper for the battery contact? I'm wondering if in some cases the contact on the back end isn't perfect and you are getting some arcing causing the heat buildup.
No, there is no spring.
