Anybody know that when the blue lights turn off, the heater is no longer heating? I can take a rip, then a few seconds later, the blue lights turn off. Here I'll try to take a second, but no heat and I'll have to click off, click back on again to get the heater to activate.
There is a circuit that turns the heater off after about 8 seconds if you don't draw through it again before that.

If it's not manufacturing the heaters creating this bottleneck, maybe they are having to re-machine certain already-manufactured parts to get them to fit together properly and work reliably. Because these are obviously still just trickling out one by one, and there's been no news of mass address confirmations or shipping updates. Also there's still a troubling percentage of defective units, regardless of optimistic missives by the new public relations professional. While I want a dose of reality this time around, I also sincerely hope these updates remain optimistic because something like this would be a real bummer:
Greetings,

We have run out of capital, and have been advised to desist with further communications until all pending legal issues have been addressed. We developed a great prototype, but our design has proven unsuitable for mass production. Furthermore, we are unable to "back to the drawing board", given the current state of our financial resources. All remaining backers and pre-orders will be refunded on a protracted, per-diem basis once these legal issues have been resolved.

Thank you for all of your support.

Sincerely, Hopper Labs

...I decided to stick with one heat setting of 4 after getting an electrical tingle trying to change it with my teeth. Measured it with a multimeter 3.6v between the clicker and the body. Guess you can have a little joke with your friends, here touch the backend with your tongue.

How can you find this amusing? This seems to me like a serious design issue...How can you be happy when it's clear your unit is shocking you?

How is this a design issue? I'm not sure how worried I would be about a shock from a 3.7V power source. CE24 is adjusting the backend with his mouth which is obviously not how the vape was designed to be used, and since he is only experiencing a 'tingle' from a non typical way of using the device seems like a very minor issue.

I'm no electrical expert but maybe V2 could incorporate some type of diode like protection.

What purpose does this serve in the main thread? Maybe you should post this kind of stuff in the off topic section.

I can't imagine a well designed consumer electronic device delivering voltage to the user being normal, even low voltage. Sure it won't hurt you but it can't be a good thing. Can you imagine any other electrical device you own doing this? Would you just shrug your shoulders and brush it off as harmless if you had a flashlight that had voltage running through it's metal body when it was on? GH seems to get more benefit of the doubt than any other product I've followed.

Pretty sure that is how a flashlight works. The body is the wire for the connection. Loosen the backend a bit and it stops working.

I'm not too worried about it, I have a feeling it is due to way the charging system works. ie magnetic charger.

I know nothing technical but I think it is the little springy thing that stops touching the battery, the current does not run through a flashlight body.
So is there a wire hooked to that springy thing or does the connection flow through the threads? ;)

Does this happen with just a battery, or when you have it on the charger? Or both?

I don't have it on the charger when I get the tingle. The battery charger completes the circuit magnetically using the clicker and the body. If you unplug the charger from the USB port and leave the magnet charger on the grasshopper there is a very dim red light blinking in the hopper.
Thus when I complete the circuit on the Grasshopper with my tongue it is the same as the charger light blinking dimly. Basically like putting a 9V battery to your tongue only little tingle.:)
Hope that helps

When it comes to electricity I always play it safe. The unit is designed to use 30-45 amps at times. You don't want to be nonchalant about something like that. Regardless of the 3.7v battery, the 45 amp heater shows how powerful this little thing is.

Trust me I know about amperage I worked on TOW missle systems in the Army. Max. output amps with the battery alone can't get even close to 45 amps. There is an amp boost only when the unit is turned on and if there was a short it would be noticed if the unit was clicked on with a wet finger. so not worried..

30-45 Amps? Perhaps you meant to say watts?

If 45 watts, and 3.7 volts, result is about 12 amps. Still sounds like a lot, but I'm not sure a tongue would draw that much current anyway. Personally, I'm not afraid of getting shocked by a 3.7v battery.

We get these wonderful reviews peppered with these faulty units. It has to be frustrating to say the least to those that have waited for 2 years for something and then shit happens.

I don't handle waiting well like someone else has mentioned earlier today. I don't preorder unless it's to preorder without paying up front. I order with $ when the unit is ready to be sent out to shipping. Some folks are very patient and some aren't.:cuss:

YES, meant watts:doh:! haha nice catch. 12 Amps is no joke.

I have a healthy fear of electricity. Shit is magic flowing through a conductive material. Anything that can get a piece of metal to 400 degrees in 5 seconds is not a play toy. So yeah i'm going to avoid putting it in my mouth unless I'm sucking vapor out of it.

It's not about being afraid of being shocked. It's about that voltage. If you can feel it you can affect the current. What about possible shorts? Does it drain the battery? We already know keeping the GH in your pocket with other metal items is bad.

I can't see how it's not inefficient energy wise.

My iPhone shocks me if I touch it in weird places while charging. The case I have prevents it, but it is more common that you'd think.

Got my conformation address email yesterday, will have some closure soon :)

@grokit i found it funny. Please folks don't take things so seriously. We like to have fun. This vaporizer makes some FCers cranky.:cuss:

I notice this thread more than others, that people get so mad. I stopped visiting this thread because of that a while back.

I think because FCers have been waiting for a vaporizer so long everyone is irritated. Or think that you're saying something negative when we are not.

EDIT
Remember we aren't on Facebook.
