Discontinued The Grasshopper

paperclip not gentle enough for me lol. I worry about scratching the chamber or damaging the plastic ring. Whatever it is... looks more like PFA than ptfe, some kinda of fluoropolymer? Seems like it cant be silicone since it endures isopropanol. Whatever it is, i dont want to damage it and i celebrate its chemically inert, temperature-stable qualities :haw:

Hope everyone,

Is your hopper one of the newer ones, or the older ones?
It was last in for repairs this spring of 2019 and came back with some quirks like shutting off randomly, very unreliable to turn on and not reaching right temps but was sick of sending it in all the time so I borrowed it to friend that vapes way less and lower temps

Been using a dreamwood glow last months and feels like a portable log vape but I miss a working hopper in my collection .. Specially now with my back and need for cbd flower at work to keep my body chugging along without too much swelling and pain :\ 510 vape with my double battery mod is not stealthy like the hopper

I have a surgically repaired back and at 67 I still seem to labor under the impression that I'm 26.

So, preparing the goose pit for the season, I picked up something heavy and have been in agony for a week (my own stupid fault....I know how to say "no" but didn't).

High dose of Prednisone. Percocets, and I couldn't even straighten up....left like I was having my Umpa Lumpas crushed....and I mean crushed.

Every hour on the hour for 7 days I was on the GH. It was perfect. Kill .1 - .12 g in a few hits, easy to pick up and use, and just a great, quick dose to potentiate the narcs.

So, no narcs since last night at 6 pm. Taking son, his GF, my GF, and I out to late xmax lunch and present exchange. I'm still hurting but I'm functional.

But the GH was an absolute life saver. I could just lay there and kill a load and go back to Lala Land

One of my two works well after multiple RMAs.

If Hopper gets the IO out and reliable, I will buy one as this vape just does so much for me as a med delivery device.

I almost always use it through a 14mm J-hook. I use it in an FC-188, but its a bit too much dilution in the bigger can for me. J-hook is a killer.

I just hope the Hopper guys finally have their act together. If they fuck up another launch....poor reliability, variable performance, lousy CS, etc...then, IMO they are done.

If they pull it off, then it will be one of the great resurrections in vapes and I would be happy to have another unit.

Gah...I'm glad I'm off the narcs. Still on the steroids so feeling a bit wired and anxious, but I can at least sit up and even get into the car so there's progress.

But I did better than my idiot buddy who is about my age (60's), weights 300 lbs and 75 of it at least is excess, fell out of a one man deer hunting tree stand, broke his leg (badly), and is lucky his wife knew where to find him when he didn't come home that evening. He's very lucky but he's a lot like me....having a hard time understanding that there are some things we just ain't cut out for anymore.

Elevated box stand, I'm in. One man tree stand, forget it.

Cheers

@Baron23 are you still using the new batteries? If so, are you leaving the battery in the unit when not in use? Running into any issues? Itching to use mine right now.. :ninja:

Is there any way for the average Joe to test/or verify that they're safe to use?

Glad to hear the GH is helping you cope while you're on the mend. Hope you have a speedy recovery :peace:

Yeah I wonder about the Chinese batteries too. I am curious to know what are the EARLY warning signs, if any, that are observable from a faulty battery. I understand if it is melted or exploded then it's faulty lol, but if I can't have a nice Star Trek computer style voice counting down from 5 then what should I watch for?

I have a bad feeling that the answer is basically the first warning sign is if it 'vents' and venting is the same as fire/exploding?

or will it complain/vent in a tiny voice and/or countdown from 5?

Yes, new batteries and the only thing I don’t do is leave them in charger overnight.

Love how the hopper does it's thing. I forgot my Xtar and bubbler whilst away this time over the holidays, magnet ring to the rescue. Goes alright but, I do miss the external charger. After blue blinking lights I switched the cell over to my TiDye HT and damn it's done something I'll acknowledge as perfection. Coming up on 2 years trouble free too.
It's pairing nicely with this lightning storm and red beard strain.

Long live the king

Ditto. I’ve been using 2 (out of 5) new batts in rotation with my last two older batts - no issues. I’m however vigilant with the new batts during charging (removing them shortly after they’re charged in either Nitecore), during use, and while not in use. I don’t usually remove a batt until red lights (or a bit afterward) and others are stored, sans caps, in my leather case or in a bag. The other 3 new batts are still bathing in kitty litter after wrapping them in plastic wrap (so nothing gets into the vent hole at the top positive terminal).

Use at your own risk OR dispose properly per HL’s instructions.

I had been using all
5 without any issue until the HL fire incident - and I had gotten my unit back from RMA several weeks before the fire so I’d been chomping at the bit to use my Hopper again. And I’ve been using it daily (and then some) since and loving it all over again.

Happy and healthy (fuck combustion!) New Year to all... :peace::peace:

Been scratching my head over that collection of cables and wondering if @MoltenTiger has a phone with USB C but no audio jack so he has a 3,5mm to USB 2/3.0 to micro USB to USB C?

Already cursing the industry for taking away the headphone port .. Even though I use purely Bluetooth :hmm: actually often wonder about buying a plug for that hole because nature of my dirty workplace and also maybe switch totally over to wireless charging also :wave:just glue a piece of some kind of silicon or rubber over the ports on my mobile phone case .. Is this like torture talk to audiophiles? ... Bluettooohhhh and all my mp3 are low bitrate

Yeah also hopper hopper hopper and hopper

My phone does actually have a 3.5mm jack, and I hate how many newer models have removed I/O capability without replacing it with anything, expecting users to opt for shorter lifespan throwaway tech like AirPods which put radio antennas inside the skull and adjacent soft tissue.

The USB-C OTG adapter to Jitterbug to DragonFly Red sounds very good, but I have to be able to charge and listen simultaneously too, it's less clear and quiet, but good enough for those budget IEMs. Less so for over ear headphones, which is mostly what the DAC/amp is for.

Bluetooth has improved how it handles audio quite a lot, batteries need to catch up. Until then, they should be user replaceable.
You can get silicone covers to protect open ports, but this Sony XZ Premium is IP68 rated and dust and splashes aren't an issue, a quick blast with a compressor and it's as clean as a whistle. Pretty decent device that's served me well for over a couple of years now.

It has become staple powerful and portable equipment along with the hopper.

It's a bit of a sprawl but it all packs down compact and it delivers.

There's something to be said about how stealthy the hopper is with the smoke buddy filter too, nice and discreet.

I was pumping clouds at my buddies place the other day, who's quit smoking some time ago, and he was claiming he was getting blazed off second-hand vapor. Will be blasting clouds outside or bringing the filter this NYE

The only thing I can do with my 2019 Hopper is use the backend for a stirring stick. It’s actually pretty handy & I never lose it but it’s sad, & the poor Hopper bubbler still just gets used with an eNano.
Hopefully before we get to 2000 pages something really good will happen here, I’ll keep watching.

Had to post on page 1,000

And then there was one ... my other hoppers bit the dust. Don't want to pester the phoenix with RMAs during ascent, giving her time to straighten up and fly right, because I'm a schmuck

Overheard the Dynavap thread talking to the Hopper thread:
"1,000 pages -- isn't that adorable"

2.9 + fresh batt + medium coarse mendo purps + 2 short draws = one happy Hopper camper! My repaired pre order Ti continues to work SO well! I’m chilling in between a couple of work things and just feeling good.

I finished off a load of another strain last night bumping the temp up and got a couple lighter vapor clouds and the effect was, as usual, fantastic. When this thing works well it simply works well.

My fine point tweezers saved my sanity again and tightened the screen in the frontend - and eliminated the annoying space when screwing the frontend on. Just a pet peeve of mine and I’m glad I bought the tweezers solely for this purpose (and to completely remove the screen for the penultimate ISO bath). Memory is starting to go but I found a screen with only two prongs on it in the tweezers case; maybe it was from my first frontend that went back to HL in ‘16 for replacement. I really don’t remember. Does HL even sell just the screens or can they even be purchased anywhere else? But it’s good to have an extra albeit one prong short.

My older batts are quickly becoming annoying. The remaining new ones still on ice, er kitty litter, may enter the battery rotation soon. Subs!!

Over new years, I got to introduce the hopper to a G-Pen and volcano user. A grasshopper is some very enjoyable tech to show off. Definitely one of my favourite things in the world.

For what it does I really owe it to the creators, being able to quit tobacco with ease has been something that is becoming more and more apparently an incredibly good choice. Most who I began smoking with still do it, and it's ugly. I don't think I could simply quit with anything else, I put in a lot of effort with the Arizer EQ which wasn't at all a straightforward out-of-the-box experience, although fun, it isn't as powerful or portable as the GH. I'm so grateful to be able to be heading into 2020 with such wind in my sales as having this GH technology on tap.

Bring on the IO. This is what the world needs!

Are you into audiophile stuff?
I guess in the sense that I appreciate quality. Tidal with the DFR is very nice, I have 60GB of music on my phone and it typically sounds better via Tidal whether it's FLAC, 320kbps or even 128kbps locally. I first got an MP3 player in 2004, a couple of iPod touchs later phones took over, I don't think vaping will ever be integrated like this. I find it is worth it to invest in this kind of technology because it's useful and device evolution is seemingly only good for some time. Often I find things get really good and then change and lose their simplicity and quality.
Along with good vapes, sound is also worth investing in, like a mattress or chair. Things should last the test of time. I've had my Microlab Solo6C speakers for 8.5 years, Fischer Audio FA-011 headphones for 7.5 years, Fidue A65s for 4 years, DFR for 6 months. I don't feel like upgrading anything now, but will probably get some new speakers before too long, though hard to choose I'll probably go for Swan M200MKiii.

I also don't feel any need to upgrade from the GH, but I can't not get the IO. Other than that I have no VAS, or GAS with the BCG. There's a lot to be said about the right tool for the job, and grinding, vaping and listening to music is something I do very often, so I do it properly

Me too. It’s like religion: crank tunes - just bought gently used and pristine Snell E5 floor standing towers to replace my Klipsh towers (ex got ‘em years ago as they were originally hers) - grind herb, which I do infrequently but a few strains at a time, store ground flower so it’s easily pourable into the Hopper (and other vapes). Any little shake left over goes on top of a new Hopper fill as I’d rather muck up the screen than have it drop in the heater at the bottom of the chamber. So a bowl before and after grinding to celebrate grinding is always in order.

But I agree - music and flower/cannabis go hand in hand. I listen a lot too with big sound albeit digital. Still trying to resurrect my turntable. My home theater setup is completely separate. I’m so glad my Hopper is working well again. I haven’t used much else since it’s return from RMA - quick, easy, portable, always hits hard and deeper than my other vapes. Gotta love the Hopper! TGIF! :peace:

Throw myself in there too. Love listening to music and bud. Now that I've learned to build speakers starting with my subwoofer, I'm far happier.

Just wanted to talk about hemp fiber for a second because we are talking about dirty screens and some people here like me are more for the dry experience.

I don't like the fact with dry that I might be pulling bud crust/particles into my lungs so I used to have cotton fiber in the end of the mouth piece but that gets clogged too fast but now I replaced that with hemp fiber that let's more vapor through but does a fairly decent job of catching particles

I posted pictures here before of my hopper setup but I got the PFE and on the end I stick a long wooden 510 drip tip, I had to order couple of them to find one that fitted but that's just because there is no vape shop near me

But between the drip tip and the PFE is a perfect space to put some hemp fiber that even makes the hit little cooler also after a couple of days of use you got yourself some home-made sleeping pills  or that is what I call the jar of hemp fiber soaked in reclaim oil

Just remember to put the fiber in and then blow hard from the opposite end couple of time to make sure there is no lose hemp fiber particles

Happy new year everyone
