thanks for the fast reply. I am actually going back into the thread now. Seeing the whole melted piece by the heater concerns me nowIt's not very far back in this thread so obviously you didn't look everywhere...i've owned both...I prefer the 2011 cuz the single digit temp increases annoyed me. I think it's more a marketing thing.
I have been looking everywhere to see whats the difference between the 2011 and 2012? As well as how can you tell the difference?
I am looking at both of these and was wondering if these are 2011 or 2012: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arizer-Extr...ultDomain_0&hash=item41689a4dce#ht_1251wt_954
Yeah for I'm gonna buy it from an official dealer so I can get the warranty because for $20 more I rather be safe then sorry. Only thing is that melting plastic. I'm gonna sleep on it wether I pull the trigger or not.IIRC the latest update has a black finish on the shell. This unit looks like the previous version.
I presume you know that you can buy a new warranted unit for about the same as that used unit on eBay.

I don't know about the tubing, however for the elbow, just be careful with this, all of mine broke from falling or trying to get tubing off. If you are going to take the tubing off make sure the tubing is warm so that it will be easier thus less stress on the elbow. If you follow those two things you should be fine, but when you don't it is not forgivingHey guys, I'm new to this forum and vaping. I just bought an Extreme Q off amazon, will be my first time ever vaping when get it. I've been reading this thread since I saw it on google. I'm overall excited about getting the Q, but I have a couple concerns that were discussed earlier in the thread.
I want to get a silicon tube because of the higher temperature rating. Can you guys link me to an inexpensive but good one that will fit the Q?
Also, I'm pretty nervous about breaking the glass elbow after reading how fragile it is. Any tips on how not to break it when separating it from the tube, etc?
The v-tower doesn't blow bags. The whip function is basically the same between the two.Can someone please explain to me the difference between an extreme-q and a v-tower?
This stuff works great. Fits the Q perfectly and is easy to manipulate.
I've never broken an elbow, so I don't think that they are all that fragile.
edit: Love the username, DW. Welcome to FC.
First time opening up my Q and I'm having some problems unplugging the Data Ribbon Cable at 1:34 as shown in that video. I have a different model then the one used in the video(I think mine is newer) and once the screws are off and I've unplugged the locking plug wire I thought I could pull the heater up a bit to make it easier to get the Data Ribbon Cable like the video does at 1:06. I can't seem to pull the heater up though even with the screws out and locking plug wire off. Trying to be careful and I wanna get that Mica piece out ASAP. Am I doing something wrong?I don't much get it what you're asking. If you can damage the unit by disassembly? Only if you loose pieces or try to pull the guts out before disconnecting the power and data cables. Oh and when/if you put the glas cover back, position the lip at the bottom into the hole in the big black support base or it could crack when you screw it back tight. In other words, the lip on the glass heater cover has a place there, you can't put it back randomly. The assembly is easy, just follow precisely this video:
At 1:35 you can see the piece under the ceramic between the wires that go in. He doesn't take it out, it's heater cover replacing tutorial.
I think I'll cal that support piece EQ's appendix. It's useless and sometimes it hurts.
Mods like the screen mod pull extra heat from the ceramic and heat the inside of the device past engineered standards. All in all its really up to you but based on that information I feel fine using mine.
Just combusted on 230. Never happened that low. But I will not go there anymore. I pulled super slowly. And then the bubbler milked. Disgusting. I have a taste of death in my mouth. Have to clean everything. EQ can combust in big style if you set it high enough and draw slowly.
I just got my Extreme Q on Tuesday. Still haven't messed with the bags, or elbow packing, just regular cyclone bowl. I've been ranging my temps from 190 C to 215C. A little afraid to go higher. I start at 190 and do 5 degree increments :-)
I just worry I'm not going high enough on the temp scale but I don't want combustion :-)
