@Sneech,
I'm beginning to feel like a welcoming committee.
We're glad of course that you have joined FC - the more the merrier. Please do stick around and continue to share and kibbitz. It's a great community with an extraordinary breadth of knowledge and experience, not just about vaporizing but also edibles, glass, social, etc. And as I mentioned to Jill, I especially appreciate the work of vtac (it's his site) and the mods; they really stay on top of things.
I can tell from your shared experience that you've been doing your homework. You were prepared to launch, and it sounds like you did well your first time out. Having read thru the thread you no doubt saw how many times the same question gets asked, how frequently a basic RTFM question was posed. I appreciate it when a new vaporist makes the effort that you have.
You may have noticed that there isn't as much action on this thread as there was, say, a year ago. But that doesn't mean that we aren't still plugged into the thread. Many of us are on a perpetual search for the latest and greatest vape technology, products, and tools and so you'll see a lot more activity on a thread when it or the subject is relatively new. Or, when someone comes up with a new idea, like was discussed the past few weeks about user mods to the Q.
Re "its not nearly like the amount of smoke you see coming out of your mouth after you hit a bong": I would certainly hope not. There is a huge difference between vapor and smoke. That smoke is so thick because it's full of combustion by-products such as harmful gases and particulates. Note also that ingesting by-products such as benzenes actually affects the experience. A lot of time smokers miss that when they first try vaporizing, and consequently it's not unusual for an ex-smoker to start vaping at like 230-260C, i.e., just short of combustion.
Related: There are different schools of thought about the value of vapor density. Some go for monster clouds, wanting the maximum in a single hit and the rush that comes with it. Some go for blue vapor, savoring the taste and perhaps feeling that what you see exhaled has been wasted. It's all just a matter of personal preference. But just be aware that, with vapor, just because you don't see a lot of it doesn't mean it isn't there. And btw this is true with the bag, too. A lot of folks get 3 bags off a bowl, with the 3rd being quite light. And, sure, the tokes are thin. But there are still goodies in there. And by raising the temp as you go you can extract higher temp canniboids, which affects the experience. That's another thing to learn about, the differences in the vapor content across the temp range. It's so unlike smoking, where you get everything all at once, good and bad, like it or not.
Anyway . . . again, welcome on board, enjoy the ride!
