Of course you can but you will have to make sure it makes a very good contact with the glass,or you might have to boost your enail to the very edges to get to vaping temps.. If contact is good enough ,it might pull out of the joint while your are trying to slip the coil off the heater :)).. Anyway i bet there are already Elev8r owners who might try this scenario.. we just have to wait :).I can tell the ID from the picture but it is a bit less then the 19mm joint , so i would guess somewhere between 16-18mm :).

Well holy sheeeeeeeeeeet.... First bowl has me nearly drooling. :mmmm:

I have a lot of :science: tonight but my first impression is this is FUN AF to use and tastes pretty good too. I can tell already a slight cool down might be beneficial. I'm going to start with 5sec intervals and see what's what.

Happy to be here :D

EDIT: Has anyone figured out what Pelican would work best for this kit?

...back to :science:

EDIT: Okay so I'm not sure how I over looked this the entire time I was watching this thread but the heater is NOT made of quartz and we are supposed to torch the heater til it gets red. I've already cracked mine. I'm really not pleased the more I think about this. I thought they would have done more field testing before putting this into market. I'm not paying $30 for another heater I will eventually crack. They should be making them out of quartz. I'd be interested in that.

My cracked heater is currently working but I do not expect it to last. Glad I got my desktop

FUCK! Hopefully @7thFloorVapes will chime in on the cracking heaters and warranty.

@Alexis @WakeAndVape any signs of cracking?

@Alexis @WakeAndVape any signs of cracking?

??? (No NOT the cracks in my fingers!)

Very minor, not sure if I would call it a crack or a scratch at this stage. I can't really feel it with my finger. Just going to be careful with it.

Still getting super medicated with this thing!
@WakeAndVape or @thedeserttortoise can you tell me one thing please about the double brulee torch we all share?

Mine turns the gas down by itself when lit. The flame just gradually gets weaker and weaker til it dies. I have to keep turning the gas back up again, 2 or 3 times per heat cycle.

Is this normal? I am trying to keep the flame as small as I can to save gas. Maybe it dies this way below a certain flame level (would have to be quite high).?

Thanks anyone for any feedback.

@WakeAndVape dude, you were just in a random dream I had- you were shooting a monster SV3 vid in your garage through an extra long j-hook. It looked scary- it was more of a nightmate!:(

I'm pissed. A little at them and more so at myself for not realizing how stupid an idea stupid torching a piece of boro daily would be. Really blows the mind how this was over looked.

So we can't just assume it's a bad batch? @Abysmal Vapor was this an issue with the Gn0me at all?

@Danksta if I saw your post before I pulled the trigger I probably would have held off. But 7th floor has some pretty good ability to keep their customers happy so I think (hopefully) it's nothing to worry about too much. I use a newvape zero jumbo which is kinda like the blazer big shot so it's going to be feeling some HEAT!!

Any progress on EU retailers yet? (looking at you @VapoShop)

Hey Schroedinger,

Yes, we are in contact with them. The elev8R is definitely an interesting product for us. Apparently there are some hurdles to bring it to the European market in regards to regulations but I don't have any details. So for now we can't really say much except that we are looking into it!

Bad batch or not we shouldn't be expecting to torch a piece of boro daily and have it hold up. Especially for us living in colder climate right now. The cold air is hard to escape. The heater should have been made out of quartz. It really does blow my mind how this company over looked that. Torching BORO?!?!?! Madness pure madness.

Here's the reply I got...

This is Jason with 7th Floor, thank you for reaching out. Sorry to hear about your Elev8R heater already cracking. I'm not real sure what the reason was for going with boro vs quartz, I would guess it has to do with the tools needing to work with quartz vs boro and that we don't use those in our studio that the Elev8R is produced. One thing to note on the heating of the Elev8R is it's not meant to be heated from one side, you need to constantly be spinning the heater in your flame so the heat is never concentrated in one area. We have put this design through plenty of testing without having any cracking, I know our owner was even using Mapp gas at one point on the heater instead of a butane torch without any effect to the boro. We have sent out well over a 100 of these now and I've only had one other case of a heater cracking and that gentleman accidentally dropped is in the snow right after the heat up. There could of been a small air bubble or defect in the glass that could of contributed to it cracking. Now with that all said, I would be more than happy to send you a replacement heater for your Elev8R if you could send me a picture of the crack. Please let me know and we will get you taken care of.

I'm glad I'm getting a new heater but I'd never recommend anyone spend money until they switch to quartz. Sorry but I don't think this design is ready for public consumption.

I hated that torch.. would go empty in just a few hours.. probably what caused my explosion. I've been using my Elev8 almost hourly since I received it and I know I've gotten the heater pretty hot.. I actually heat it to glowing which In hindsight would be a bit before the glass actually melts.. I don't know.. I'm definitely no brain surgeon on these matters.. My point though, is that my heater just keeps going and I don't have any cracks.. The following vid shows a little bit of this technique but I must admit that most the time I torch the heater even more than the vid shows.. I should also point out that in the user vid I watched when I bought mine, 7th Floor recommended a 45 second torching and not till the glass glowed. That doesn't work on mine.. the herb won't vaporize.. That's when I started using "the glow" method.. Maybe 7th Floor can chime in on this.. I'd hate to be ruining mine but it hasn't cracked and I think glass has a lot of tolerance to being heated a bunch of times... We used to cook the shit out of our flasks and test-tubes in lab class..

Here's a vid I just did. still in bed. Notice the orange glow (it's very slight but visible where the flame spreads out) that I use as a reference that I've reached temp.. hope this helps to answer some questions. Tortoise. PS... Forgive my messy house... I'm almost crippled by this Neuropathy.. House chores are 1st to suffer.. Cheers all.

I'm sorry Alexis.. I went on about my heating technique without answering your question about that torch.. Yes, before I tossed it, mine did the same thing. Turn it up and the flame would slowly die. I'd have to turn it up a bunch more just to light it again.. I think that mine just had a terrible leak that caused all the other issues it had.. This small Bernzomatic I replaced it with is way great... very small, and it doesn't leak. It is a pencil flame but I don't think it takes a bunch more time to heat than the double barrel job did.. I did a video just up a couple of post's back that shows it in use.. Wish you a great day.. Tortoise

Still a stupid idea. These won't last guys. Spinning them might prolong their life but these are just like wax pen atty's. Temporary and not cheap for the consumer. Yea I'm salty.
Less powerful torch should make it a non issue but I see what you’re saying kinda frail?
Edit: a zirconia one would be badass! I fucking love zirconia!

No way one of these gets used daily and makes it 6months let alone a year.

I honestly feel ripped off. Selling a boro torch vape to the masses. And we fell for it.

This thread should be more rabid. This forum made me think this company was good. Any real field testing would show all the flaws.

Another CO company to piss me off. Thanks so much lol.

@Danksta you have made your displeasure of this device clear. However FC does not allow for members to re-state their issue/complaint over and over again, so unless you have something new to add please refrain from this line of complaining here in the thread. Failure to do so will be considered company bashing (a rules violation) and will bring warning points.

FWIW boro is used in several vaporizers and has proven to be quite resilient. I have a Gn0me that I've heated hundreds of times over many years and it has never failed. I would suggest you reach out to 7th Floor to discuss your issues with them. They have a good reputation on FC for a reason.

@biohacker Hey buddy, cracking was an issue with the Gn0mes,but after braking a few i realized it is really all about thermal shock. Also after making a few i realized it is also a matter of quality of the glass and thickness and the pinch position .
So there are few occasions on which cracking can happen. First some torches are ultra crappy and sometimes flame ceases and they start spraying just butane which is cold enough to crack the heater glass on contact.
Also when temp of the glass is below 20 C there is a huge chance of cracking when hit with a 1200 C concentrated heat. I dont know why but 5-10 degrees make a difference, never had a heater cracked on start in the summer ,but happen a few times in winter where the roomtemps were below 20 at times.
Now lets talk about flame diameter. Wider flame makes less stress on glass rather than concentrated micro torches. For example Benzomatic and Dremel are somewhere between 8-10mm opening, while Blazer bigshot has 22mm opening, which makes flame wider .
Most microtorches (like the Benzomatic and Dremel) have the ability to adjust flame wideness from pinpoint to candle flame, but rotating the airflow valve. My favorite cheap torch is this one because it has a lever(toggle switch in the picture !?) for adjusting the flame wideness,it makes great result with other flamepowered vapes like the vaponic because it heats less but faster and over wider area, which is great for faster and less overheated session. (honest 500 jet,but there are many rebrands, mine is happy sheep lol...
sku_6824_101.jpg

Another thing which is essential to avoid cracking is the pinch position ,when making them next to each other you should avoid the bumps touching on the inside .
Quality of glass is also essential. Chinese boro cracks like a bitch. German 2.2mm Simax is a tank.. I doubt that 7thfloor use bad glass.. there is plenty of awesome boro in the US.
Forgot to add that heating with two torches at the same time also seems to cause cracks. One is more than enough. If you cant invest in Blazer bigshot there are cheaper 22mm or 16mm versions which are attached straight to the gas can or work with camper stove can gas like this one.

@thedeserttortoise thanks very much for sharing those very useful thoughts and tips.
Im very surprised what you say about the double brulee not producing vapor without such a long heat up.
Im not finding that at all. I get what you are saying about the glowing glass, I do observe that and it lets me know it is pretty warm.
But I am getting a better feel for how hot it is, after heating, by holding it towards my face/chin.
If it is noticebly very hot from several inches, I know I should wait a moment. I have to try and avoid too high temps.
But with this (admittedly crappy) torch, even from cold, 30 seconds is practically overkill for my needs/tolerance.

And I am blowing really huge clouds, fully milked at fast draw speed. Lung busters!
In the great @WakeAndVape 's video he advises very short heatings, like 15 seconds (?), with 7-10 second re-heats until you reach your desired level.
So Im a bit perplexed by your reports of going over 45 seconds, both for vapor and orange glow.:hmm:
My first use I heated for 60 seconds and I got one of the hugest, densest and most potent hits I have ever had. No need to ever go there again. And I am still going over my threshold and over darkening loads with too large a hit, still nowhere near 30 seconds heating.
I am gonna check out your vid shortly. Will try and rig something up myself soon.
So maybe these torches just turn the flame down the whole time. I really dont like using it anyway, the worst part of the rutual for me. I do want to get one like you are using, just easier to operate. I have held off so far because because of the amazingly fast heat up of this brulee!:hmm: Thanks so much bro for your warm advice from the desert.

Someone commented that this vape made his bubbler smell unpleasant
Hi, that would have been me and sorry I have caused some confusion and misunderstanding over this. I have just been making observations of specific differences between numerous different vapes recently.

I noticed that the Flowerpot Showerhead made my bubblers smell very strongly of cannabis vapor and had a real "pong" to them after use, which increased with use.
"Pong" doesn't equate to bad, it just means to smell strong. Usually associated with unpleasant smells so can me misconstrued.

I use the word "pong" simply for emphasis, good or bad. I don't know why the FP vapor leaves such a strong odor behind. It is as clean, pure, healthy and potent as any vapor going.

So I just assumed it was the potency or something to do with the Showerhead's excellent extraction. However...then I tested the Glass Symphony, which is almost identical to the SH in the vapor it produces, taste, size, potency, extraction etc.

And the GS vapor DIDN'T cause my bubblers to smell strongly of cannabis vapor. Not noticeble at all.
Im not drawing anything from this, or thinking it is a good thing or a bad thing either way-just another mysterious aspect we are far from understanding when it comes to what makes vapes so different.

Then I gof the Elev8r:brow:, and I noticed the same kind of weed/vapor "pong" to the bubblers as the Flowerpot, very similar and in my experience so far, unique to those 2 vaporizers (and absent with the Symphony.)

So I think you misinterpreted what I was getting at. Not in any way a negative aspect of the Elev8r, no way! Just want to make that clear. Just a side effect of the clean and potent vapor the FP and Elev8r provide.
It smells like a natural chemistry lab I guess, which it effectively is. The odor is surely the harmless byproduct of the exact type of chemical reactions occuring as the heat does the magic.

Actually it's yet another testamemt to the Elev8r to be so comparable to the Flowerpot in this usually little perceived way.

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea.
Right, need me some Elv8r! Hope you all is good tonight have a good one.:)

@Alexis my bad.. I just went and dug my dbl brulee out of the trash and filled it up a bit and your right, it is way faster than I was saying. Brain fart.. It heated my Elev8 perfect in about 15 (just a little less) seconds. I'm going to get another one.. I don't trust this one.. I'd say stick with it if it isn't misbehaving like mine is.. Its sure a ton faster than the smaller one..

@Alexis are you getting any kind of condensate with your elev8r in your water pipes?
I can't say I have really seen that so far with the Elev8r.

We should really start making a table for all of these (more important than life itself) similarities and differences:

FPSH/ GS/ Elev8r
-Water tool "Pongs": Y N Y
-Visible condensate: Y N N(?)
-STILL fucks you up, Y Y Y
whether it Pongs, condenses, or does squat:

Edit- this table hasn't displayed right. I spread the columns out to align, the site bunched it up. I try to edit- it looks right in my edit window, just doesn't display right on here. Oh well I did try!

Technically, it would seem that anything that builds up in your pipe is a missed opportunity, as the vapor cooled down into a solid and condensed onto the sidewalls of the pipe before it had an opportunity to enter your lungs.
I have kind of presumed with the SH, it is so effectively drawing out the oils into a gas, virtually untarnished, that the vapor is so rich with the oil a lot more of it will stick around?

Or some logic in this direction.

Oh yeah, something I tried yesterday- I had a small bundle of sticky hemp fiber I used to filter particles from the SH and Herbo Ti. I tried it in the Elev8r bowl and it worked a dream for several amazing tasting, smooth and potent hits.

I have hemp fiber in the underneath of the bowl now, VERY sticky already. You can actually see the oils set like frozen ice shards, on the outside of the fiber.
