what's wrong with a "crème brûlée torch"?Get even a small torch, you will not regret it. Stay away from creme brule torches, though.

well thanks for the recap about crème brûlée torches (i should have read the whole thread, mea culpa).Creme brulee torches didn't work out well for others in this thread. Uneven gas pressure or something. You can use it, but the performance is sub par. The users who were giving feedback on it were all satisfied with the big buddy and torches similar to it. If you already have the creme brulee torch you can try it, but I don't think you'll be satisfied with it unless you're making creme brulee.
When heating my elev8r I just put the flame deep into the heater and rotate a little every second. Your flame can be as deep as you like or just barely kiss the heater, it will change the heat up time slightly, but it's not much difference honestly
I'm looking for a quiet torch that's not too loud, had enough of torch noise working alongside a welder.
@Mozy That's easily replaceable, TAG website.
The bowl of my Elev8r seems to have crack internally. I just heard a weird sound when drawing air and there is a nice spiderweb behind the lettering on the bowl. It also seems the crack is internal because when touching both sides of the cracked bowl glass it seems completely smooth. Have never dropped it. It stil works fine tho.
https://i.imgur.com/RAKAhvF.jpg here a picture of the crack. Not sure if the temperature change of drawing in hot air caused it. But my bowl does have some imperfections.
I emailed back and forth with them, as of last they asked for a picture of their site photo and I complied with the photo of my invoice. That was 2 days ago so we’ll see

So just to clarify, you guys both ordered the 14mm Male to 18mm Female from TAG, PRODUCT SKU:AD-102-1328 -- and were expecting this:
Which SKU did you receive, and was it still 14mm Male to 18mm Female?
Thanks.
Help!!! Need to rig up a clip for quartz heater, didn't order one thinking heater would seat fit on the adapter. What can I do? $6 shipping for a $5 clip, no.
Well after some initial hesitation I took the plunge. Not one, not two but THREE quartz heaters coming this way!!
One is for my spare prize Elev8r which had no hole so I couldnt sell/trade it.
2 are for me, plus extra sick clips so I can effectively have 2 setups on the go simultaneously. The only thing that pains me using my coil is not being able to get instant access/vision of that load in between hits.
I know you can shake, but I will always get better use out of my loads when I stir and break down at specific points in the load. And not doing so, continuing to just shake the load instead- hits get weaker and dont satisfy.
A good firm aggregation bumps up vapor again while there is still some left in the load and makes it all worthwhile again. So my hope is to simply switch the coil over to the other heater while one cools down then I can carry on with my sessioning without delay.
This should make for some fun socially as well and will also be great for mixing indica and sativa strains randomly throughout the session.
See you all real soon in Quartzland!

Data point – my new quartz heater is smaller than the OG heater. No frosted connection and smaller diameter makes it sit deeper into the wand. I may use OG heaters as daily drivers and keep quartz as the prized backup. I like it so far...
The SKU I was sent is AD-1021328 and they are sending me a replacement with the SKU of AD-102-1114C.01 , anyone looking at these should make sure it's the correct SKU, don't rely on the photo. Wasn't sure what was happening since I didn't hear back for 2 days but they came thru as always.
From what I remember of my previous adapter the chamber was pretty small compared to the Elev8r one. one. If I can manage not to destroy this one I'll see how it fares as a microdoser.
I've only got mine for some days so i can't be the best advise but:Hey, quartz have arrived on thursday, but I don't have a big-ass torch so I've ordered a big buddy that should arrive tuesday. Anyway, I'm excited to start using it. I will first try it on my bong (I've never used a vaporizer through a bong), but I have a few questions, mind helping me out?
1) Is the sick clip necessary or it's just to be safe? The WPA and the heater seem to connect firmly, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
2) Is 0.4g ok or should I put less?
2) How long should I heat it with the big buddy? about 45 seconds? How can I tell it's good to go?
3) Do I have to play with the carb hole or I shouldn't bother with it?
4) How long do I have to wait before the reheat so I don't burn myself with the glass?
I've searched within the thread and found out most of these questions, but since it's a different heater I'd like to ask again, just to be safe.
Thank you guys and have a great week. I've also heard this piece hits very hard, so I'll invite a friend over to smoke with me, you know, just to make sure we don't die .

can you taste any differences in the vapor signature between quartz and glass? Still deciding if it's worth picking up the quartz, so far I haven't heard anything that will sway me to make the purchase.1. YES....USE THE SICK CLIP!!! It was necessary using the the glass heater, and now it is super necessary with the quartz heater. The quartz heater has no matte finish so it does not hold tight at all...it is actually fairly slippery in the connection joint. You can use without....but that would be just asking to get burnt on your body or melt the heater into your clothes/carpet/etc. Stupid to take the risk unless you for some reason use a coil and the coil is tight around the heater where you can pull it off and on like a flowerpot coil and head assembly. Basically if you are using a torch.....use the sick clip or you will be sorry at some point.
2. I would say .04 is ok, but you get a more full taste and medication using a larger load....say .09. Then just take a draw or two and stop. Come back later and finish it with another 2 draws maybe. The taste might not be as good on the second time using the same load...but it depends on how long between the use times and quality of your flower. If you are talking using at one point...then coming back an hour or so later....not even an issue using this way. But, no problem with a small load like .04 and getting maybe 2 draws off it pulling slow. Obviously many of us can clear that and more with one big pull. Just learn how much heat you need to control the extraction process. It is easy to blow through the load if heat is too much. I can make the Elev8r work very well with micro hits using lower temps...just takes good practice with the torch to develop a good timing while heating.
3) NO....DO NOT EVER PLAY WITH THE CARB HOLE. It is not a carb hole in the sense you need to use it for any adjustment (though it can be altered if you do this). Think of this more of the importantly needed consistent air intake to make the vape work well. Do not cover, point the torch in it, or worry about the hole in the top of the heater. Worry more about the other end of the air-path......your bowl and your glass unit. They are more important to adjust performance and such. That is why I love this vape....you can set it up with almost any glass joint piece you want. Though I recommend a medium size glass piece to start out with.....some can handle direct draw of the included hand wand or jhook....but not me....I gotta go through water.
4) If you get the new quartz heater, I find it cools off much faster than the glass heater. I have not tested the cool off times to touchable yet....but I will tell you it is faster on the quartz heater....just too scared to do an actual "hey let me try touching the quartz heater....i think it is cool enough now" .....lol I almost did but at the last 5mm....I bailed. I will do a test and use a IR prob to show time to cool off to say 100F.
Then just one last thing, as mentioned the quartz heater is slightly narrower and shorter than the glass heaters, so you will need to adjust the top wire on the sick clip to be slightly tighter. Just use a couple of pliers to bend the clip inward just a tad...wont take too much. Then the heater will not wobble around in the joint with the sick clip on.
The heating times are pretty close with the 2 different heaters....so just use the same 45 seconds startup torching....then 15 or so seconds on the heat ups pending on if you wait long or stir and open up the bowl to do that. Then maybe 20-30 reheat if the heater is still at least warm. Use the back of your hand about 4 or so inches from the hot heater to judge the heat radiating off it after you torch it.....you will get used to this feel of heat amount after you use the torch a lot...that is how i check to see if the glass is too hot to take a draw.....just wait 5-10 seconds when you feel like it is too hot and you will then understand better the heating importance of this vape. You can really tailor the performance to a huge range of use. Just go slow and easy on the draws...wont take much to get vapor. If you see vapor build up in your glass piece after 3-5 seconds......its max hot.....lol
Glad you finally got the vape...can't wait to see what you experience with it!
