By the way, I want to be sure I have the optimal technique for this down:

I activate the unit, and load the stem with medium-ground herb while the Air preheats. I set it to red while it's heating up, as I've heard it produces better results if you do so initially. Once it's hot, I insert the stem and set it to the desired temperature - typically green - before allowing it to heat soak the herb for about 30 seconds.

After that, I draw slowly and steadily for several seconds, hold that breath for several seconds, and exhale. There is sometimes visible vapor, sometimes not. My understanding is that visible vapor is not necessarily linked to the potency of the draw, however.

I'm currently using the default glass stem, and I intend to try the domed screen method, when my screens arrive. Is the domed screen necessary with Ed's wooden stems? Is it beneficial? It looks like I may have a few days to wait until it shows up.

When using the glass stem, make sure u slide it out a tad bit after you put it in or the draw resistance will make your face pucker. You'll get used to th sweet spot.
I normally pack my stem, put it in, then let it get to temp with the stem in. This makes my first hit absolutely amazing. I'll normally do my first hit or 2 on white, to prime/dry the herb, then I rip it on green. I'll do it differently if I have a group tho.

Make sure you don't pack your bud down. You'll get a charr on top if you do. Push JUST enough so if you turn your stem upside down your bud won't fall out.

With the AA I load my stem and make sure I don't pack at all. Your cannabis needs airflow to help with those milky vapor clouds. Too much of a pack makes it hard with too tight of a draw. I usually use lower heat that's where the flavor is.

This vaporizer as well as the Solo is so easy to use and clean. Some units are a bitch to clean.

Edit
Use the Air whatever way works for you. There's no right or wrong.

I think you're off to a good start. However I don't think there's an "optimal technique" for all. It's very individual in the end. Solo/Air, unlike many (most?) other vapes are extremely open to variations of technique. Large load, small load, intact bud, ground to any of several levels, cured, well cured, dry, not cured at all have all I think found favor with some. Even loading stems has differing opinions.

And then we can multiply that by which step to start on, do I change heat in the load, when, to what level, when is it done and so on.

Then multiply all those possibilities with stock stems, the stock stems from 'the other vape' (Solo stems in Air and the other way about), custom, several grades of PVHES options before we get to GonGs..... Oh, yeah, not to forget Ed's excellent custom stems, wood is cool sometimes.

And we should include WTs, hit size, wait times between hits and a bunch of other stuff. All in all I'd be surprised if there were many folks who agree on the same 'perfect technique'. Like trying to list all the ways you can make a pizza, there are too many options to get your arms around. Ain't life grand?

My advice is to poke around here and the Solo threads (basically the same device with more battery and more features) for ideas to try, but in the end you must try them to see how they suit you.

Tough job, that. Best be getting to it.......

Merry Christmas to all, and those we share life with.

yes, mine is huge inside and greatly benefits from screen

There is so many ways you can experiment with your new Air @hiddengecko. My air got me to appreciate lower temperature vaping & is a godsend if I don't want to get completely wrecked. Then again it is my #1 crime partner when I do wanna get sleepy.

An Air with a few short stems, spare batteries & a G/WonG with a bubbler gives so many options & is still cost effective for most vapers.

Number one reason I fell straight in love with the AA. It's intuitive. Very little extra thinking required to get highly effective performance. (Lucky for me.)

As said above, there are of course many ways to finesse the AA if that's your thing. But you can also very simply put the herb in, power it up, select your temp and go.

I've been anxious lately to acquire a vape that is slightly more discrete than the AA for use when I'm out and about. The other night I was riding solo at my favorite establishment. Hadn't had the opportunity to partake up to that point, so I stuck the Air in a pocket in the event an opportunity presented. When the time came, I stuck my hand into my pocket while seated, powered it on, waited a sec then gave it a single click for blue, then walked out to the parking lot. Easily and non-chalantly fit a pinch of herb into the all glass stem (if I had pre-packed I'd have saved myself this step), stuck it into the unit, had a couple of hits. It came off very casual. Did the same a little later without the filling step. Just powered up, bumped the heat up another notch to finish what I had started earlier, waited a minute for it to get up to temp, then stepped out and let the AA work its magic.

Granted, I didn't do a session, just two or three quick hits. But that's all I wanted. And the AA came through like a champ.

My search for stealthier vape ended then and there. What was I thinking? The AA is quick, simple to use, and can be as stealth as you need it to be. Didn't even notice it in my pocket while I was enjoying my nice fresh savory IPA. I imagine I'll move to the shorter stem next time and make sure it's pre-packed, just to have some added confidence that I'm 99.9% good to go while out and about with an amazingly convenient and effective vape.

Next stage is to ask in a bar if you can use a e-cig inside. If they say yes continue to use the Air without anyone having a clue haa.

I agree it's a great vape (I own more than one), but not optimum for stealth and 'quick hit or two on the sly'. You might want to consider the FM Mini, much smaller in the pocket, even small enough to 'palm' if needed. Not quite as tasty as Air, but sure not far from it.

If the goal is a quick few hits in the parking lot, consider Summit. You can press the big button in your pocket if you want, it automatically goes to the last temperature (there's like 8 options?) and vibrates so only you know it's working and without looking. In a very fast time (much less than Air) it again buzzes to tell you it's ready. It's about the same diameter as Air (but square rather than round, which as advantages sometimes IMO) but shorter and doesn't include glass stems (nice sometimes of course, but on a stealth mission.....). For some there's no 'discrete enough'? That is some want every edge in their favor.

Air is very good, but in this narrow usage I think there are others offering useful advantages.

Is it just my imagination or am I not hearing many people using those planet vape airflow stems? Trying to decide if it is a worthwhile addition. Not loving the Air through glass but it works. Taste goes to nil but the coolness of the hit is a plus. Will I get a way better hit with the planet vape version than the gong that PIU sells?

Now that my buds are dried more I am getting good results overall but kind of lean to the dry stems. I am pretty much staying on white and getting complete vape from what I can tell. Although the Air seems to give "vapor" even when exhausted I think because of a tiny bit of combustion at the bottom of the load. Anybody have a rule of thumb to know when you have exhausted the active constituents without overdoing it?

I could see how more airflow would maybe be beneficial like with the planet vape stems but wondering if the cost justifies the investment. If I am doing domed screen size loads I wonder if efficiency will even be affected. I would like a more complete and quicker hit but not looking to really milk it either. Just hit it till its done and turn it off.

I use the dome screens and actually like the smaller size loads but are other people using the full chamber and getting complete and easy vaporization? Just wondering in case I want to pack a more substantial session in the future or better function is attained with these domed screens?

To me I think the Air has the same exact efficiency as smoking but just creeps a little bit longer. Maybe I will learn to use the Air better but my Nano I think surpasses combustion in efficiency for sure.

Taste is great though especially now that I discovered white and even saved some greens that were kind of unsmokeable and harsh. Get the actives and leave the rest in the ABV

I haven't tried the PV stems so can't comment directly. However I have seen a tendency over this thread for users to try them, then default back to the stock stems, although I am sure many kept using the PV ones.

IMO Arizer did a very good job with the stock stems, I as many users pull the stem out just a MM to increase the airflow and this works very well.

If you want to pack a more substantial load you can try flat screens. The one's I have fall out when you turn it upside down whereas the domed ones normally don't. I like the flat ones though personally. If you managed to find one that was just a tad bigger than the ones I have they might not even fall out.

In terms of efficiency I and most people on here would disagree its the same efficiency as smoking. Not that I ever would (FUCKCOMBUSTION) but if I smoked the amount I load it the Air im sure it wouldn't have any affect. That's my opinion anyways :)

I think many/most of us 'old hands' have tried them, most I think decided that stock stems generally do a better job making vapor and have gone back. I'm in that group. I'm confident they tested very carefully with Solo and profited from years of customer experience there. The made a stem that they thought would suit most owners best. They could just have easily made them with less restriction, but didn't by conscious effort. They could also provide you with both types when shipped?

The issue is there is only so much heat (in calories) going in. If you add extra cold air you get larger volume but more dilute vapor. Unlike blazing where extra air feeds the fire and makes more heat, no extra heat is added so the cold air actually 'robs heat' that would otherwise evaporate more THC. It works against you at that lesser level. Hit them soft enough (which of course nobody does) and you can match, but never exceed, production of the stock stems?

You're thinking of efficiency a bit sideways I think. Most any vape uses less herb than blazing (where THC is literally burned up before making it to you, by a factor of maybe 3 or 4 to one. Hugely more efficient than smoking by that standard? The effect is different, but if you're still blazing from time to time you probably don't fully benefit from that, you really do need to avoid blazing in any form until you 'forget' to associate being poisoned with getting high. You don't really 'have to stick your face in the campfire' but like Pavlov's dogs there's a link there that comes from your first experience that has to be broken first. Some take a day or two, some a couple months. I'd say the average is maybe 2 weeks with absolutely no backsliding (which resets that clock).

Regards and best wishes enjoying your Air, it has a lot to offer.

I haven't combusted since my Enano arrived. I feel like I am using a slight bit more than I did smoking but only because I am enjoying it more. I can't say I feel the effects a lot more by weight than smoking though. The advantage I would say is what I am not breathing in rather than saving weed. It is pretty subjective though and maybe I will learn to use it better.
Although concentrates in the Enano seem to go on forever

As @OF said, vaping really shouldn't be comparable to smoking in terms of efficiency. Smoking really burns off so much.
Try using Green temp more, the higher temp CBDs add more of a stoned effect...I'd guess the temp on your nano is more likely hotter than 374 (white).
Also, I tend to forget to hold my hits when I use portables, but it seriously seriously helps to hold for 5-7 with every hit....ESPECIALLY the first. I still normally don't, but when I wanna get feeling as much as possible, I hold in the hits and that normally does the trick.
The Air will never be as efficient as the Nano imo/ime, but it should top off smoking. Just give it some time and I think you'll be able to enjoy it more for what it is.
7 months combustion free and forgot what it's even like, so I have nothing to compare to, haha.

Yep, subjective and then some. There's also 'mind tricks' going on too I think. I don't doubt that you might find more advantage in smoking a gram than vaping it, but you'd sure be in a very small group around here. Maybe even all alone? I mean guys that think blazing is better have probably wondered off looking for kindred spirits.......

Glad you here and playing, hope you hang in there and it comes to you too. I'm sure I speak for most if not all here in saying 'that's not the way it's working for me'. But if good for you, that's what matters......subjectively.

No I find no advantage at all in smoking. I enjoy it way more vaping hands down. I just seem to be plowing through the stash faster. I think I also tend to underpack the Air slightly and slightly overpack the nano. One Air stem lightly tamped of Super Sour Haze had me spinning today. I am probably still dialing in.

No cashing a bowl ever again makes me instantly dedicated to vaping. I feel the THC effects to be roughly equal to smoking but maybe I am just really stoned. It isn't quite clear sometimes

It took me at least 2 years as it was simply many times quicker to mull up a bowl & rip huge ones . I proved myself very wrong last Sunday by vaping .7 & kief in under 15 minutes in my EQ. Seven hits & it could have been done quicker but I had already done something similar not long before & was rather fucked TBH. I could never ""get it" but once I committed to vaping (so I could quit cigarettes eventually) it was a revelation. I will never combust again. Why the fuck would I after learning what I have & experiencing the power of vaping?

This. @CalyxSmokr you should definitely try green. I use white & then green for stems & red for the GonG. You are missing the magic released at higher temps.

Having never been a spliff smoker it is one of the few vapes I really enjoy dry. I am a greedy fucker but vaping really does live by the maxim of less is more. Often I find a simple .1 1/2 stem on white & green is hugely powerful. I will always vape up at least .2 but if I get up to make a coffee or something & "forget" I can find myself pleasantly stoned for a couple of hours before I realize I only had 1 stem :).

Outstanding testimonial! If we were having a series of Tent Revivals, yuo'd belong in the front row no doubt about it. Sometimes the path is easy and straight, sometimes anything but. We don't hear from those who abandon the quest of course and unfortunately the carry the 'oh, yeah, I tried that stuff, it's BS' massage back to discourage others.

Fullest congratulations on perseverance, you've broken the code and seen the light. Blazing is both seductive and addictive. You've not only beat that to enjoy the benefits of vaping, but as a small bonus you also get more years and better health to enjoy it in........not a bad thing at all IMO.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad it's largely 'preaching to the choir', the guys that really need to hear and understand are wasting their time on lesser Forums.

The AA's stock glass stem has finally ( or at least since Aug. when I got my AA ) made an appearance on eBay, for a few bucks less than Arizer sells it for & no shipping fee.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arizer-Air-Solo-All-Glass-Aroma-Tube-70mm-version-/331731474199

Definitely my stem of choice ... and that it can stand up on its own? All the better :-)

So I'm looking at the Air to possibly replace my PNP and on their website they are $250, but if you go eBay they are everywhere "2016 Arizer Air Vaporizer" for $149 and they claimed they are authorized resellers/dealers. This seems like a no brainer that eBay is the place to get it from. Am I missing something???

Hey I just wanted to tell you that if you email Randy, he'll be willing to price match to bring the price down to around $155, with 2 day shipping full warranty. At that price, I think it's worth going with them

No, it's a fraud. I bought one to find out, go ahead and waste your money if you want, they are clearly counterfeit. I have a couple posts on them on this thread, and on the 'counterfeit vapes' thread. The only thing worth having IMO is the stem. Their plastic cap has a metal insert and no gasket. It does fit the Air.

One issue with it I haven't reported yet (I'm going to try to put all the rest of the problems in a third and final post) is the battery cuts off (goes red and needs charging) when it hits about 3.7 Volts, meaning your get two, not four, sessions per charge.

So yes, you're missing something......doing your homework?

Your call, but IMO this is a 'sounds too good to be true' case, which it is.

I busted out my Air the other night and damn the flavor and effect is exceptional. The herb goes a lot farther than with even more herb used in my other vaporizer. Stronger effect, and more flavor for longer. I love the thing. It is a fantastic vaporizer. The other night I fired it up while I was waxing my car. Very nice.
