Hi again guys and gals, Still loving my Air and don't regret it one bit. One thing I would like to do is pick up a more efficient stem like the Vortex Shorty, seems like PV is out and is always out of stock. Is their anyone else who sells a similar stem or even a better stem? Thanks.

I have also been looking all over. I did see a couple on ebay that were done to fit the solo but should also fit the air, they had different colors and did say it was a high efficient stem. The bowl also did have a few cutouts for improved airflow... But i havent ordered one or tried one so i cant recommend it... I cant NOT recommend it either though LOL I got a PVHES straight turbo here and I have a PVHES shorty and a PVHES shorty turbo on the way. Otherwise i would order one myself. The only other stem im interested in now is the vortex.

My personal experience with my device; tested with a cheap multimeter, a high end charger and a super high end multimeter at work. All consistently measured 4.2v full charge and 3.3 when it locked out due to low voltage.

Since you have both an old one and new one it would be great if you could run similar tests and see if you achieve the same results.

I did just that, which is why I said "Actually I don't find that change at all. My original BF unit and the one I just got seem very very similar to me."

What I meant to say is when I compared the two to each other I didn't find any significant change.....which is why I asked what you based your claim that there had been a change between the two on....

Do I understand correctly, you have no such information to offer?

Again, the same battery gives the same run time in either version which tends to say there isn't a difference in charge and discharge values, right? I don't agree with "the overcharging/over-discharging present in earlier models is a possibly dangerous manufacturer defect" existed as a defect, and I don't see any evidence of the 'correction' you claim. Doing the same test (open top, full heat, back to back sessions) my two units are within a few minutes of each other in run time (either way it seems).

but it seems like a case of a shitty company that makes great products

This is clearly my opinion based on my experience with the company, I don't see how this crosses the border from criticism to slander.

I feel this way due to but not exclusive to:

-Their inability to provide a replacement plastic mouth piece for sale, included with an order or otherwise.
-Releasing product revisions with no explanation
-Blatant gouging

I'm refering specifically to the voltage and like UnshavenFish I was mainly concerned about reports of over-discharging in some models as posted on this forum. My unit doesn't do that and I was just posting my personal findings. Sorry if that offended you................

Yes, I usually just use red. I actually removed the sleeve as a test and it's still shutting off. Really getting annoying. It didn't behave this way when I first got it. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but I can't imagine that this is normal behavior. It happens sometimes on the very first session from being cold.

I was having issues with my Air cutting off and was instructed to do a manual reset.

This seems to have solved my problems as i havent had any issues since and have used it a truck load since, but im not sure if it will help you or not, and im not sure if its something we should be doing for any/every problem.... But ill let you decide if you wanna try it... here is the message as i received it. (from Aroma-tek)

"Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we're sorry to hear that. You may be able to manually reset your Air. Please try the following:

Plug the charger into the wall outlet
Plug the charger into the Air unit
press and hold both buttons for approximately 4 seconds
wait for 10 seconds then unplug from charger

If this doesn't resolve the problem and it's consistently doing this we can provide our return instructions so we can test out the unit."

Hope this helps.

I think i was me  that first posted there might be a difference in voltage between the two versions. This was as i had read here different results to mine, but as more people have posted their results i think we can say both units act the same regards to voltage

Now back onto the air (well in a long round about kind of way hehe)

Ive had it for a few weeks now and loved it from day one, at the same time i also got a firefly.
A couple of days ago after spending too much time here again i received a stealth haze 2.5 (yes i think i may have a problem) all three are great so far although i do find myself reaching for the air more often.

I'm going to give the haze a little bit more play time then will post a brief comparison of how they compare with the air in the way i use them.

No, it flashes red for the second half of the range. First green, then white, then orange to the 50% point, after than it's red each power up. Once the voltage drops under about 3.6 Volts in my tests. I did a series of tests (max temperature, no stem) which load less than making vapor. The series went 12 ten minute sessions (not the less than 60 minutes that happens in real use), from 11:35 to 1:36 when it stalled. Two at green, two white, two orange and six red.
so, going by this and the earlier post from OF that preceded it, I assume the new model doesn't have the red light near the end like the older model?

I have the older model myself, without indicator, just the red light when it's near empty, but from what I had read here on the indicator I assumed the indicator of the new model was in addition to the red light that was already there.

and that brings me to the 2nd part, with the older model, when the lower red light goes on, how much is actually left? so far I've always taken it as 'battery low, put in a new full battery immediatly' , especially since a sudden red light seems kind of warning/alarming when high. so I've never actually tested how long it still lasts after the red light.

Oh, no, I'm not offended. I'm concerned that some guys might take your 'findings' as fact given the way you talk about design faults and changes that IMO don't exist. That, IMO is not only not true, but would naturally lead some to think there was an undefined fault in their early unit, for instance. Or some battery life advantage in a new one.

If there was any evidence of this, IMO that's worth looking into.

Lots of misinformation drifting around, I'd like the information available here to be reliable as I'm sure most do. To me that means 'peer review': I expect my opinions to be questioned by those in a position to 'keep it real', welcome it even.

Thanks for setting it straight.

Wherever the source, good topic to get straight I think. Good thing to question, but not state as fact? This (checking battery management) was one of my main reasons for buying a second Air, the other to investigate the only apparent difference, the 'battery meter', which is kinda related. And a change in stems happened, of course. I was concerned when Sinclue posted he thought the temperature had changed on his new one (by a step?), but that doesn't seem to be a common thing. Near as I can tell mine are identical performance wise. IMO a guy is well served by either version.......I just wish I could see the colors like everyone else.......well most everyone else.

That last part is driving me nuts to the level I just ordered some plastic filter film to play with. Right now all I have is red, fine lot of good that does since red is lit for 3 of the four colors (white, orange, and red). It's sort of a 'not green' filter, which means not freshly charged (which I can usually remember well enough to not get caught dead).

Thanks for the confession.........

Regards,

I just tried it and unfortunately it still shut off after a 1 to 2 minutes. Ah well. I guess I'll reach out to Arizer about warranty replacement and see what happens. Thanks for sharing though, I was hopeful!

Did you guys say that those dome screens work with the turbo version PVHES stems?? Does it fit well as is or you have to make it fit? Not that its difficult to bend a screen a bit LOL

I use a giottos rocket blower to blow the screens out after every couple uses and that works pretty good. I actually got it specifically for blowing out my EQ cyclone bowl and it works great for both, But having spare screens has never been something i regretted.

Sorry to hear this bud, hopefully they get you taken care of!! Let us know what happens if you dont mind.

HAHA!! I dont have any cats but my Shiba Inu gets excited every time i go to using it. Has since he was just a few months old. He got to it one time so now there are a few bite marks on one of the tail fins LOL... My dog is pretty awesome though so i wasnt mad!!

And yessir, excellent gadget. Dont think ill ever need compressed canned air again. A little more effort required but thats no biggie to me, i have used it to clean my desktop computer and all. Im a fan.

Hello!

Im using the Solo on a daily base since 2-3 years now and Im very happy with it. I also have an Extreme Q but I rarely use it.
Now the Arizer Air is tempting me, but being so happy with the solo, I don't know if I should buy the Air, or simply buy another Solo.

What do you guys think??
Should I go with the Air or not?

If you have money to burn, or need the added portability then purchase and you won't regret it.

If you don't need the added portabilty really there is nothing to gain from owning the Air.

I do not own a Solo, my one and only vape is an Air but the above has been mentioned time and time again :)

Stems are compatable between devices so if you have built up an extensive collection at least you know you can continue using your gear.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

Go with the "in" thing, the AA will put a smile in your life; you can alway get another Solo, later.

You can now take your light fantastic in your adventures, without the heft.

Quick question...
I'm currently a solo owner and love it. It's actually the first vape I've owned. With that being said, would it be worth it to buy an air? Besides it being smaller, what are other noticeable difference? Draw restriction improved? Quality of vapor such as taste and smoothness any different?

Bought my 3rd plastic tip stem. This one has not split. I can only put it down to what of said about keep on tightning it as it gets hotter, then, obviously it seems now, as they cool at diff rates it splits.

For me the only difference is size and battery life. If you're happy with your Solo and don't need a more discreet one, spend that money on some nice herb! The Solo is a long-standing winner, and the biggest owner complaint was size. The Air is Arizer's answer.

This plastic tip is on so tight. Did you guys have to use a lot of force to remove it? I don't want to end up cracking the glass haha

@OF
Usually when I see the red light, I would charge the unit instead of using it. However, last night I used the unit for a full session on red. It worked for the full session but I was constantly given a red light indicating low battery. I'm begging to think the indicator is working as it should (red light represents <20-25% rather than the suggested <50%). When I get some time I'll measure SOC per light cycle and see what I come up with. Solely based on my usage without any measurements, I'm estimating it's broken up into four parts of 25% each or five parts of 20% each (still not sure if there is a light between white and orange).

Mine was on very very tight, I thought it was actually non removable before I confirmed on here.

I eventually removed it by gripping the wider base part of the tip rather than the thinner mouth piece section. Maybe also grip the glass with something rubber.

I suggest you try removing it when the stem is hot. I found it easier which is what led to the idea that it was tightening it up a bit when hot that was causing the problem.

I too thought that four colors defined four (not five) even sized bands, until I actually measured it. I found no level between white and orange, nor I think has anyone reported a fifth color? My observations, complete with voltage levels are posted. Please let us know how your testing goes? TIA

Edit: After a bit of thought I think it has to be set up that way (red band wider than the rest) if the idea is you can always get a last session out. Consider if the steps were all 25% and luck put the start of your former session at 30% (showing orange). The next session would show red all right but since the remaining charge is 10% or so you'll never finish the last session on red. To ensure against such a 'worst case' you need to show red when the battery has two sessions left. Right?

Mine was on very very tight, I thought it was actually non removable before I confirmed on here.

I think guys tend to tighten it up by twisting CW on the cap turning the stem? For sure using the flats on the cap, rather than the threaded part, to remove the cap will put extra strain on the plastic. I also think the rubber gasket tends to work against us, increasing the friction.
