Thanks for the responses, guys. I know it's not a big deal and I'm just being picky but as an electrical engineer, their excuse of USB taking too long to charge just doesn't fly.

Does the solo really use two 18650s? I thought they used something smaller

As an EE I'm surprised you'd make a statement like that. What's the specification for maximum current on that USB port?

No, Solo uses two internally (can't be easily changed), Air uses a very special (single) 18650.

As mentioned earlier in this thread (by you, I believe), the charging rate is about 800mA. A microUSB can easily charge at 1A. We really wouldn't know without getting a datasheet of the specific battery being used but pretty much all high-drain 18650s are best charged at 1A.

I've vaped, and I can't get up!
Just jumped into the Air yesterday. My First vape was an Ascent. Also had a couple of Flowermates that I ended up loaning/giving away to friends to try vaping over combusting.

I needed a second unit for a traveller. Pics don't do justice how tiny it is in hand!

Just ran a couple of sessions last night with some Afghani High CBD and some Cheese.

The Davinci and I, honestly have always hung out at 170, and stepped up to 180. I like low and tasty hits, and hoard the ABV for later.

The Air starting at 180 was a worry, but it was such a smooth flavourable sesh, that all concerns are out the window!

Build is amazing, vaping through the stems is amazing, found the resistance just right by pinching bud pieces off and doing a slight finger pack.

I am super impressed with this unit, makes me proud to be a Canadian. Maybe all those RIM employees went over to ARIzER after Blackberry ate it in Waterloo.

I've lurked this thread for a bit, but consider myself still very new, so maybe you could help me out on a couple of questions:

1: The Aroma Dish Can you actually use it for shatters, oils wax and budder? How?
2: Nitecore chargers look like the way to go, but is there really a SAFE battery alternative to Arizers?
3: Is there a bubbler at about half the size of the pinnacle one that would compliment the size of the air?
4: What are your favourite 3rd party stems? Ed's of course. Anything titanium or metal available?

I got it at a great price, at a local store in Victoria BC. They also do online. He price matched it at 215 CAN which is a great price compared to arizers own site. I can get people the name of the shop if interested. they're an official retailer and also back the year warranty.

(this is the same place I bought my Davinci a year ago) I just don't want you guys to think I'm schilling here!

Glad to be a part of the Air Head club!

So as it was mentioned earlier in this thread, Arizer doesn't care to respond to e-mails regarding their products unless it's to try and sell us something.
Don't take it personally, but they probably prefer to discuss product development with their paid staff. That said, Arizer seems open to & appreciative of any suggestions, even if they originated here, like:
-Battery Meter,
-60mm & 70mm all glass Stem Availability,
-MP & Seal hole Size,
-Ear Scraper style Pick,
-Pin to USB adapter,
-Better User Manual,
-Competitive Battery & Charger Pricing,
-Replacement Top Seal,
-Serial# stamped anywhere but Batt Cover,
-…

So I've been lurking here for a while reading and plotting mwha ha ha...after reading way too much i finally settled on getting a firefly and air combo (seemed to meet my needs) i ordered them from vapefiend and have to first say what a great company placed order at just after 2pm and had them in my hands before 11am next day, no question was too much and i had a lot lol. Now onto the air I've had it for just over a week now and I'm in love, great little (as others have said many times its soooo small just disappears in my hand) device. The unit i have has the newer software (battery level) and i might have found another difference, so when charging in device (air) with supplied cable the voltage when lights show full charge is 4.20v and when the unit will power on but not heat the oven is 3.40 - 3.41v...battery's are BAK a06 (came with unit) and BAK a05, i read near start of this thread different readings. So anyone else with battery level indicator finding same results? Is this a software change or is something else going on. I should add i used a cheap but accurate dmm for readings but checked with a friends MetraCal MC and got same results just with more numbers after the .

"3: Is there a bubbler at about half the size of the pinnacle one that would compliment the size of the air?" Pipes daddy infamous glass bubbler is amazing. On Sale also here is the link -http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm
4: What are your favourite 3rd party stems? Ed's of course. Anything titanium or metal available? if you purchase the bubbler you will need a 18mm gong , so that brings me to Planet vape in canada , who sells gongs and stems that i like allot , here is there site , all there pvhe and vortex stems were designed with better airflow in mind. imo they work great here is a link - http://www.planetvape.ca/vaporizers/arizer/air/

Thanks, but that's not what I asked. What is the specification of the micro USB port that an owner is likely to have (say on his handy laptop)? The answer, which they too no doubt know, is it can be well under 800mA and still be in spec. Meaning innocent owners will get slow charging, a problem. Makers can't live in a world of 'could easily happen' if the 'might happen' is reasonable and creates a problem.

Some USBs "can easily charge at 1A", some can't. They get to deal with the can'ts.

It doesn't really matter what the battery spec is WRT charging, that (charging) is rightly controlled by the Air if we give it enough power to work with. USB ports (standard (A or B), mini, micro, whatever) don't have the power to keep up in all legitimate cases. I think they're tellin' it true. And would have thought an EE would agree?

Thanks for setting me up with Planet Vape Justpassedu! Glad to see I got it at the same price they have there. Pricing is good too! There are just soo many sites with crazy mark ups that are just online stores, with no warranty backing.

That bubbler will also be hooked up!

Thanks again!

Maybe I should just throw some hash in the aroma dish, crank it to red, try and suck any vapes that come off it with the glass straw?

I don't know how the Storz and Bickel portables can be priced where they are compared to this machine. I was borderline waiting for the New Imag+/ about to pull the Goboof trigger, but this thread really turned me to the AIR!

No problem at all , glad you made out ok. That little bubbler is perfect and a dream to use. I like it allot and i know of many forum members here that do also. I think its the perfect size for pairing with the air, you made a good choice purchasing it. I may even buy another i like it so much just in-case i ever break mine. As for the hash if its anything sticky i don't recommend it at all , it can melt and fall down into the heater , i would not take a chance like that. What you can try is putting a little in the stem but using a sandwich type method . Sandwich a little of the hash between some herb and try it like that. Also there are so many types of hash so im not sure what kind you are using but if its sticky you can also try putting a little on a piece of cotton and putting that in the stem and vaping it like that. Don't worry the cotton is safe you wont be vaping it.

Oh yeah I saw people are sandwiching, I wouldn't use shatter or oils or hash in the tube for certain. I was thinking about trying them in the aroma dish, which has no holes into the heating chamber. I have a system on the Ascent that is pretty good with concentrates, using the jars. It would be a pretty big bonus if there was a way to simply cleanly do them. If I try the cotton will make sure it real cotton!

Air seems like a dream to clean!

Seems to be at blue temp i get very big clouds, firstly at first hits i get much more flavor, but later is coming the big clouds! I like this way! 180c , very good temp. For terps and later you get the cloud and sure, less flavor...
Im using the 60mm MP with the black tip and i think you can get more flavor during session with no tip .

Ya know i never really actually took a look at the Aroma dish i always thought it prob had holes going down to the heating chamber. I have a few desktop vapes that had come with them also but i usually leave them in the box or put them to the side and get to the good stuff that i never actually took a moment to actually look at it. But ty now that i know i may use mine for some oils. Not the smoking type of oil but the scented kind. I usually like to use some if i have people over that dont really vape or like it , to hide the bit of smell they may give off. Now i dont have to keep buying those little tea tree candles to warm my oil.

If you have a high power port on your motherboard or you're using the right ac-dc adapter then there wouldn't be a problem. I guess what you're saying is they standardized it so people wouldn't plug the device into a low powered USB port then complain about charging issues, which does make sense.

It's the same with them claiming their battery is exclusive and/or specially designed for the Arizer. Cater to the lowest common denominator, I suppose.

Ti (colored) AA are few and far in between. However, silver is more attractive IMO than the dull colored Ti.

Not real Titanium.

if you really want the Titanium colored, Randy will hook you up. Try emailing him, he's tops!

Yeah the aroma dish doesn't even fit snug, and after 2x10 minute red sessions, you get a nice soft smell of it if you stick your schnozz right in the cup. Too bad there isn't a straw that was closed on the bottom, and you add your extract from the side or through the top!

Ahh the legalities of aroma devices I guess.

While that might be true of their stand alone charger (I don't think we have any first hand reports there, certainly not in depth/high tech ones?) we do have our very own CentiZen who did a lot of research and testing on the factory battery and reports it's actually a quite exceptional IMR 18650. It's hard to say, of course, exactly which of those 'extra' features are really important, but when he says there are some there worthy of respect, I'm respectin'.

Lucky for us, he tied into a batch of the genuine article (from the maker) and is offering them at about half price. I considered an extra ten bucks on a spare battery or two as cheap insurance, but when the price is a push (from CentiZen) with other top end batteries it becomes borderline 'no brainer' to me.

He has a thread on it somewhere around here I can't find. Perhaps someone can post it? If not a PM to him will no doubt make both of you happy in the end. Then again, IMO owning an Air of your very own is a decisive step down that path. You won't regret it........

I tend to agree that microusb would have been alot better IMO. If the reason is what Arizer is saying that it would take too long to charge; then couldnt that be said about almost all microusb devices today? If I take my smartphone that uses 1A charger and plug it into my computer getting only .5A; it would be slower. Slower but still an option. And if the consumer is even alittle educated on the matter they would know to use a wall charger for faster charging. Actually I would guess that this is pretty common knowledge, most people know if they plug in their ipad/iphone/etc into a computer USB it would be slower (just a hunch on my part).

Only scenario that I can imagine maybe being a problem would be running while charging with only .5A. But that is not the answer given by Arizer.

Just my :2c:, im far from an expert.

Dont get me wrong AA has so many benefits and improvements compared to solo and the nonstandard adapter is not even in the ball park of being a problem or a deal breaker. Its more of a wait why not moment? I thought the same thing when I looked at my more budget chinese vaporizers (both have microusb, one even came with a 1.5A adapter). Especially given the convenient 5V used by Arizer.

Well, looks like i jinxed myself when i said id pay more for the vortex stem HAHA ... But they took it out of context because i meant id pay more if i could order it right away...

Looks like the price raised from 25 to $28, but they are still not back in stock yet... Still watching. Still waiting.

Stay positive, maybe they'll go back down again before they're back in stock. I know it's kind of a lame way to look at it, but a few dollars for a stem that will hopefully have many many times that value in herb consumed in it's service life? That $3 increase is like what? One stem load?

I hope you get yours soon, I'm glad I got in on the initial release.

Thanks bud,

And yea man im not worried about a few bucks at all. I just found it funny that it went up a bit after i said id pay more is all!! Ill get one soon enough im sure. Stem # 7 (PVHES straight turbo) should be here tomorrow or Saturday hopefully... so im not lacking stems to use or anything LOL....

Really i mostly only use the one 70mm stem that i got that fit looser than all the others. Best draw out of all them. Never used the solo straight stem, and i already cleaned the solo bent stem and put it in my EQ case.

Also may be of interest to others, the padded case for the Arizer EQ has room to add some of the air stems right in the foam, One side pocket fits the box the air came in, Other side pocket fits tons of other accessories and the front zipper pocket fits the air in its holster with 2 spare bats. I still got the front buckle pocket empty too.. Pretty cool you can keep the Air, EQ, and accessories for both in the same travel case.

You can make your own. Arizer will probably never have PVHES mouthpiece stems — too costly would be my guess. I modded all my Air mouthpiece stems to be PVHES. It's easy peasy to do and will save you some bucks over buying them.

How do you make / mod your own PVHES stems out of regular stems?
