Monk Debate

The monks do be debatin’
The XL8R Jr does a surprisingly good job of keeping the vapor cool. Obviously the big one cools it further but I was really impressed with how cool the vapor was out of the Jr. I was able to get more feedback on vapor heat due to the short air path but it wasn’t burning my throat or lungs. I may prefer it to the big one.

I’m also loving the soft rim baskets. They just feel better than the hard rim ones.

I want to get my z it's own. I'd appreciate some advice- especially from those of you who've tried more than one of the ones I'm looking at. I own and like the P80 and RX 2/3 and am trying to decide whether to get another of one of those or the RX Gen 3 which I haven't tried.

I have the hcigar for a different vape and the evic mini for the original splinter.

I'd recommend an RX gen 3 dual from vgoodiez so it'll already be set up for you with whatever software, though I did actually like the stock one... I have surmyevic on it now with a 25sec autofire mostly using through water with my Z

Hello friends!

Today i got my Splinter Z!

I set it to 32W, heat it for 3-4 sec, and then i draw for 10+ seconds.

the flavor is amazing, the draw is a bit harsh, i will order the XLR8 mouthpiece soon, just wondering what's the best way to extract the most out of the herb with wattage mode?

To be honest I don't think the device is worth an extra $27 for a free firmware update unless you just refuse to learn about tech. You can get it from element vape for $42.99 and do it yourself in a few minutes

Hey man. If you use that same technique between 24-38W you will achieve full extraction after a few draws. Give your stem a quarter-half turn between draws and maybe stir (if you don’t mind) and you’ll get nothing but crispy, brown abv.

I know what you mean about the heat...if you get yourself a cooling stem you will be able to enjoy, or at least tolerate, the higher temperatures at the end of a long draw.

I have a noob question about the software for the mod, i got rx gen3 dual, should i install anything on it? or just stay in wattage mode? there is so much information about this online but it's all over the place, it's hard to understand what exactly do i need to do.

The reason I changed the software like VZ Goodies does is because I hated the timer on the stock firmware. If you took too long of a draw it would turn off the mod. So I love to use cruise mode with the new firmware and with the help from a member at VL forum I finally got it set up with TC. That's really good too. It's worth putting the new firmware on imo.
It really is a vas killer. I have been disappointed with every new vape I have purchased since the Z. Now I'm going to sell a bunch of stuff off and get another Z as a back up.

I have the same firmware on my P80 & my Gen3 Dual, and it's the firmware used for the G43. I use cruise to avoid the auto shutoff. Just be careful you don't forget to turn it off when your done with a draw. I was baked and must have not clicked the button hard enough to turn it off. I almost burned up my Z! Keep in mind cruise mode is not covered under warranty either.

I assume BestBuds meant the firing time timing out, not the mod shutting down because it timed out. Check your instruction manual as I think the firing time can be upped from 10 to 15 sec. on your mod. If that's not long enough of a draw for you, you will have to upgrade to the sur_myevic software to enable autofire/cruise to increase firing time. As far as the mod. timing out & turning off, either finish your session sooner or turn it back on.

It's up to you if you want to try TC mode or stay in wattage.

As much as I'd like to compete with guys like that I don't order 1000's of these mods and cannot offer these mods as that price without losing money. Honestly I really had to think hard about carrying mods in the first place because of sites like this who basically sell retail at wholesale price. But I decided it was the right thing to do for our customer base. A lot of our customers specifically avoid the 510 variants because they are not tech savvy. They also have no idea where to buy and would be intimidated by the steps involved in updating the firmware.

So I decided to add this as a service to those people and an opportunity for one stop shop which could also be important to some. I offer them at msrp and allow all discount codes to apply so I don't feel like I am out of the realm of fairness in pricing. You can always go to Ebay or some of the other sites that ship directly from China to save money but they are not going to ship as quickly as us and none of them will offer this service for those who can't/won't figure this out.

I just wanted to clarify our position on mods and firmware updating services so thanks for your time.

I don't know that the issue is "refusing to learn about tech". I think it's a very different experience to develop skill in tech when it's been a part of your life.

Pressing up and fire at the same time will lead you to a secret menu where you can increase the shut off time from 10 seconds to 15, fine to use the G3D with stock firmware, I enjoyed it like that.

Using surmyevic you can increase the fire time up to 25 seconds, you do not need to use AutoFire (cruise) to do so, and you do not need to try to figure out temp control. These are designed for wattage mode and they work great, if you want a longer fire time without the custom firmware, just let go and press it again to double the time length during a hit.

I understand the point of it and it would definitely be a good option for some (elderly or less savvy) it just might not be the right option for many others. Also, element vape isn't ebay, their one of the largest and most well established businesses in the vape industry. Everything on their website is us stocked and will ship out the morning after you pay for it. I'm more concerned that you don't offer ANY information on battery safety, which everybody NEEDS to know. For example, you should buy an external chargers for your 18650's.
Charging them in a device, especially a wismec at that, is inherently unsafe and can lead to a fire. Even if it doesn't, no mods outside of DNA devices are considered safe to use for charging long term.
I don't know that the issue is "refusing to learn about tech". I think it's a very different experience to develop skill in tech when it's been a part of your life.
Doing a firmware update requires no skill, just a small amount of knowledge. If you can learn how to operate and ecig, you can do a firmware update. Also, no one should be using an ecig without going out to learn about them. I've been using ecigs for years and they can be dangerous in the hands of someone without knowledge. A couple ecig batteries in the pocket can ruin your leg forever, but the public at large is oblivious to this which lead exploding vape stories all over the news. The original geekvape aegis had a problem with the firmware that made it unsafe for example. It was up to you as a consumer to fix it and the people who refused to learn ended up with flaming devices. At the end of the day it will take 30 minutes max to learn everything about how your vape works and how to handle the firmware. Why not just take the time and learn?

I've never used an ecig. My first box mod is the internal one that came with the tubo. And I use the tubo firmware on my other box mods. I keep my batteries in the plastic containers they came with. And, given my experience trying to figure out the settings on the box mods I have, in spite of your perspective, it will take me hours to figure all this out. Should I stop using vapes that require box mods because of this?

No, your actively trying to learn how to make it work and your practicing battery safety as far as I know. If you aren't practicing safety outside of those plastic cases, such as charging externally and regularly checking your battery wraps, you should stop using any mod that requires external batteries until you understand how to safely handle them. You should never charge through the evic. The charging has been tested on the device and its not properly balanced and can over/under charge batteries and damage their life cycle. Not knowing these things can be a major detriment to the users safety and the lifespan of the products they buy. Also, watch a review on your device from an ecig reviewer. They can break down all the functions of an evic within 20 minutes. I've learned how to use every ecig I've owned from youtube reviewers.
