Discontinued Pandora Kit from Purple-Days

I think it would be way easier to wait on a package than to try getting it all through email. Each part of the instructions relies heavily on all the pictures included. So you can't just get the written parts without the visuals, and vice versa. Lots of info on the DVD, large files too. Would take a long time and effort to get everything sent out via emails.
Personally I would help out, except for the fact that I don't have the time to write all the emails with attachments required to send over 3 gigs of stuff. I think you will be better off waiting for the package, it is the easier less stress option of the two..... Sure It might cost some money to mail it, but it will more than likely cost Tom much more in terms of Time if he were to email it. Trying to email something that big, especially if you have a service that only allows so much storage per email. Could potentially throw toms work schedule off. . . I think it would be less stress on Tom if he just mailed it to you

I think regardless of the urgency that has occurred there will be some amount of small wait that will happen. Wether it be waiting for a package, or waiting for an email, it is not something that will happen immediately.
While you wait, you might as well check one vital thing that will make or break your pandora build. See how the piece of 1" Metal tubing fits into the wooden body. If it is snug you should be alright, if it is tight and doesn't want to fit you might want to inform Tom. You can assemble it using a tube piece that fits too tight, but it will take a lot of sanding and some brute force to get it to fit, but it is probably better to get a new piece from tom to make the build easier.
Now just because I included that little last blurb does not mean you have a bad fitting piece of tubing, just a small possibility you may run into.

Thank you for that tip Devo. I'm going to have to check mine before I get started.

Yes, I agree the DVD is quite comprehensive and not something that could be emailed. I read/watched the first part and it is clear that I should have no problem following the instructions... that part anyway!

I actually ordered 2, one for a friend. The disk in my friend's kit didn't work either but luckily I have mine so I told him I'd get him a copy. That is something that just happens when making disks!

I'm sure that Express mail will happen pretty quickly! Good luck and happy building!

DVDs not working?

I've burned thousands of DVDs and CDs for music trading and to give to friends. I really dig live music. Anyhoo, some DVD/CD players have trouble playing some DVD-R/DVD+Rs and CD-R/+Rs. Even more recent players sometimes have this issue. There is usually nothing wrong on the end of the person burning the discs. Sometimes, though, it is the disc. But, in my experience, when the disc is the issue the burn will fail and you know this before ejecting the disc (I've made lots of coasters). So it should be unlikely that any bad discs go out, but mistakes happen.

What I have noticed is, if it is the DVD player that won't recognize the disc, the disc usually plays in a computer DVD drive without issue.

One way to minimize the number of bad discs is to purchase the highest quality discs available. The problem is, for the most part, every brand name disc (Sony, Maxell, TDK, etc) are low quality discs (by comparison). I always have a quite a few bad burns in a pack of 100, or even 25 and 50 packs. Fuji brand used to sell a 50 pack (CDs) at Best Buy stores (at least here in the Portland area) that were "made in Japan." These are the ones you want. They are rebranded by Fuji but the discs are actually Taiyo Yuden discs.

Taiyo Yuden are the best you can get. I'm just about to run out of what started out as 200 DVDs with absolutely no bad burns. But some haven't worked in certain players.

I know other brand names have rebranded TYs but I'm not sure which. The easiest way to tell is, if it is a CD-R made in Japan, it is TY. For DVDs it may not be so easy because other brands of DVDs are also manufactured there. But TYs are only made in Japan.

Here's where I get mine from.

Check it out.

I hope everything came across the way I intended. Tom and I seem to have a communication breakdown (it's always the same) so I want to be clear that nothing I have said is intended as a put down of anyone or anything. I know I said I wouldn't post in PD related threads and I'm going to resume that position. I just thought I could be some help here. Hopefully this good turn goes unpunished. ;)

Very thoughtful and informative post, Reece.

I figured the Sony disks were about as good as you could get.

The disk burner settings I use, are supposed to check the data after a write. When all is well, the disk should pop out and be ready to go. And an easy eyeball check  of the back of the disk shows the burn... ;) But somehow a few got labeled and packed up without being written. I think it is likely the packaging department made an error rather than disk or disk writer software.

So two easy QC checks, look at the back of the disk and secondly put all freshly burned disks on a spindle to be verified by a human, then a QC mark of a sort to be able to tell that a disk has been verified.

Also, these are data disks, some folks see DVD (the disk type) and think it's a movie that will play on the TV set or a media player (on the computer). But these are files that must be opened, data, not a movie (though there are movies within those files). This hasn't been a problem so far, just blank disks. The sleeve is pretty clear about this but I just made it more clear (I hope).

Yep, Lo check the sleeve fit. A few are gonna be too tight, that issue is solved for future units, but the few that got out wrong can be easily replaced before assembly.

Also, some people might try and access their DVDs by putting them into a DVD player. Not realizing it is a data DVD meant for the computer.
I found it easy to just open all the pics for each section in one window and have the instructions printed out. That way I could flip through the pics as needed, and I had the instructions sitting next to my work area as a quick ref.

Yes, it's not a movie. And won't play like a movie on a DVD player. That's the text on DVD sleeve, that I tried to make more clear today. It's a possibility, and is now clearly addressed. But you know... I miss stuff too... ;)

Oh p.s. to all, the text should be formatted for printing. I tried to be careful so it looks good as 'written' instructions.

Devo gets it of course... print the instructions and view the pics and vids. ;)

Ordered mine a few days ago can't wait to build it. The only thing I am not sure about is if it will get here in time for spring break so I can have time to put it together. I will post a video of everything you get with the kit and the packaging when I get it sence I can't seem to find anything like that or a review of the difficaltly of construction. New here seems like a great place :)

It would be cool if someone make a customer video of the building process, probably be fun to shoot too.

Make sure you hit yourself hard enough to be entertaining... you shouldn't have the problem I had. So you won't be needing to turn any of your fingers into targets of a wanton hammer massacre.

Yep, mistakes mean learning. :2c:

Even started cleaning the burr on the 1" sleeve with a die grinder, always learning, always trying to improve. No sharp edges. Extra work, but extra satisfaction, knowing it will be better.

96 heat exchanger tubes finished today. We are working hard to get this P-D original wait list behind us.

Another addition soon... :D

I recently heard what happened with the large shipment of PD's.. :uhoh: I recently made some unexpected money and am now preparing myself to order pandora. On your website it clearly states that the wait for the pandora is 2-4 weeks but I was wondering if the recent events/working to eliminate the wait list will effect the time. Also is there any shipping/taxes or is 150 the bottom line?

I am not the best web page designer...
I'll fix it up to make it clear that shipping is part of the deal. Thanks ;)

International PDP sales will resume soon too, but better page
explanations are needed. Power requirements etc. :ninja:

Thanks to the easy to follow instructions/video my heat exchanger is completed :D

I did it by myself except having my husband snip the bit of crossbar for me after my attempt with small snips wasn't quite cutting it lol. I am so looking forward to the rest of the build.

Thanks again Tom!!

Hi,

I am in the process of assembling the P. kit and I have a question: How do I actually use the vaporizer?
There is the heat exchanger and there is the vapor tube. Now, the vapor tube has a mesh, but the heat exchanger dosen't have a mesh. When I load the weed into the vapor tube and then insert the vapor tube into the heat exchanger, what will prevent the weed from falling into the heat exchanger as there is no mesh to prevent it from falling down?

the absence of a mesh screen makes it easier to turn the unit over so you slap the bottom of it and cause anything that has falling in.. to fall out...

When you put the tube in the heat exchanger, hold the vape at an angle, not straight up and down... take a little inhale... that inhale will cause the herb to vaporize a tiny bit and cement itself into place.. after that nothing should fall out of the tube.

Once you get the practice down, you will find herb doesn't fall into the Heat exchanger that often.

DevoTheStrange,
Fail, friction inside the stem's bowl keeps it from falling down. And after your first hit, the green is pretty much glued in until you finish. If any happens to fall in, just turn 'er over and slap that bottom. It will come out.

Does anyone happen to know if the waiting list is more toward the 2 or 4 week wait cause if it is 4 weeks I will not be here that whole next week for delivery :(
