iHeat 510 Heater Cartridge

Currently waiting on the bamboo HI but I’m lookin at this 510 Iheat vape as well as I may consider getting this in the future. How is it? Is it a heavy hitter as well? How is the smell? Can 2 people share it? I don’t much bout box mods will have to learn about that.

In addition to what goldenbud said, I'd set up a TCR and hit it at higher max watt, like 55-60w or something. You would be able to choose when to go hard or to chill out with minimum risk to overheat things, depends on the temp you set up.

You can share it with another person but the bowl usually holds ~0.1g.

If you set the TCR right and the mod stops heating at the right time, you can use autofire too. I'm doing this with my glow and it doesn't damage my wood.

glow is different story , the coils are tiny , much less volume isn't it? like, or did u change it to be big volume mesh?!

No I didn't, you can see the coils at Glow's thread though. I know it's not the same vol but it still heats up to a specific resistance, so I think you can configure it to reach a resistance that doesn't do damage and is hot enough.

iHeat hitter is like the opposite of the Glow18, I know the glow18 but not with Stainless Steel coils....... the mesh is very big but weighs almost nothing....I was shocked when I hold that in my hands...... maybe if you get an iHeat which the cold resistance is 0.355 and you reduce it to 0.255 or something, then you can set max of 55w-60w, because it will not reach it....

a friend of mine combusted with TCR 290, 0.320, 36W autofire, need to be careful with the cruise with this vape..... waiting for new deck

Glad you are able to use so many different roasting tubes with the iHeat using the silicone sleeve @GoldenBud
Speaking of silicone sleeves. I found that an 18mm female glass tube will fit nicely to a StemPod deck using one. It allows enough room to install a spiral coil heater. The roasting is fairly even with the air directed straight up by the four air inlet tubes. I only have one screen installed above the heater, so there is no foil disc in the center. The screen is 5/8" and has been hammered until it larger in diameter and won't fit through the bottom of the taper. It gets wedged into the glass at the bottom of the taper. I started using them with some 18mm roasting tubes I configured a while back.

Nice to see someone else already had the same idea a while ago for a glass stempod sleeve! Would love to see a clearer pic how the mesh coil is screwed to the 510 base when you have a chance.

The screw post configuration in the stempod is the same as for the iHeat, so I connect them the same way. Here is a photo I posted a while back where you can see how the wires connect to the 510 deck.

How concerned should I be about heat on the wood?

My iheat gets hot quick. I stop every now and then, i take the stem out, and draw air through to cool it. How far can I push it? My iheat is in walnut, if it gets too hot will the wood split or get damaged?

hey,
the iHeat's mesh has almost no weight. it has a lot of volume to it, but it weighs almost nothing. i think the chances it will split the wood or damage it are not high, even when my friend combusted with it, the wood looked good.
also you use max 40W with this vape, it's not too hot i think if you use it on-demand

I think he’s more worried about the heat drying the wood and splitting it at some point.

@oddjobold, as long as you condition the wood fairly regularly, you shouldn’t have much to worry about. If you’re really concerned, it’s easy enough to pull the wood sleeve off the heater to have a look inside.

For reference, log heaters are left on 24/7, and while they may not generate quite as much heat, there’s is a sustained heating/drying that doesn’t seem to negatively impact the wood.

the gap between the mesh to the wood is smaller than logs. all logs have more gap between the heater/cover to the wood, but because the mesh has low weight, it can perform with that small gap without doing damage to the wood

When did you get yours? It should have the steel foil, that is between the wood and the heating element to protect it, however even if it doesn't have it, there is no real danger to a slight scorching of the wood... You just feel the heat through the wood because the wood is absorbing it, it is not getting so hot that it would damage the wood or split it or anything, this is normal the way the steel mesh heat soaks and the wood absorbs the heat... There shouldn't be anything to worry about in this regard? If it somehow does break then just send it into Alan! I don't even treat any of my wood and have no issues.

I am still a bit concerned about the fragility of the Iheat.

Cracked it out again today. It really is functional art. More mellow, longer lasting vapor than a tiny might. It's probably smaller than a tm without the stem on the paramour. This and the tetrax are the best 510s for me.

I still don't understand why you're concerned, it seems to be one of the most durable 510s in my collection... Also not sure what you mean by longer lasting vapor, that can be controlled with the temperature settings...

A little I heat session.
Love my little beast.
That's a beaut of a setup. My current setup is a 5" glass tube with a flat screen and Alan cut the tip off so it will fit the iheat. I then add a 10" silicone tube to get even more cooling. It's almost like having a j-hook. I'm very bad with breaking glass, so I'd love an 18mm silicone tube eventually. But glass is where the flavor is at. 👍

I dug out my old guy and played around with it. Mine was made before the various upgrades like metal sheet or what have you. Are those upgrades big changes to the iheat or more modest upgrades?

@Diggy Smalls - The addition of the ss foil lining the wood helps it stay a little cooler to the touch with some of the heat reflected back to the coil and the ss foil disc diffuses the heat so it the roasting is a bit more even. If your unit isn't getting too hot during use and you have fairly even roasting, then the upgrades aren't really needed.
@BigJr48 - I do still have a few of the 510 decks for making iHeats. Need to get another batch made.

Hey Alan, count me in for the iHeat cartridge as a back up. I love the iHeat! Will send you a note. Thanks again!
