Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

One tip for testing - test just the cap. It cools quicker and covers nearly 85% of the load.
Do you mean the cap, loose ... by itself? Or, the cap installed on a tip but with an empty chamber/oven? If just the cap, do you mount it on a small dowel or something ... how do you manage it?

I am reading voltage and current of the cap inserted into a firing IH. Constant depth, no switch (use a wooden skewer for coil-switches). Let the reading normalize for about 2-3 seconds and take a reading and do the math to get watts. Turn off the IH if its still firing (should only fire during actual cap insertion to keep the circuit from thermally drifting) Cap only = quick to cool = handling. Clicker pension of no consequence. This gets you the 'coupling' factor. Now you can do the same with the full complement. You are not looking for click-timing and hot load vs. a cool load won't change these readings. This will give you some level of understanding of how much energy goes to the cap, and how much goes to the rest of the structure.

For timing-to-the-click tests - now those are slow to process. Might as well load them up and get a pad and paper. Its gonna be a long vaped day

Oh, wait - must already be a vaped day - yes, for timing, clicks can be accounted for quicker with just the cap.

Anyone know what size coil most resembles the heating pattern of the Port Side Mini?
I own a PS Mini and have had my new glass insert Flux 15mm for 10-15 days now.

I find they're pretty comparable in performance, but the PS Mini can run a little hot when fully charged and a little cold when needing a charge. With the Flux lasting way longer and me having a 2nd set of batteries ready to swap, I haven't run in to hot/cold battery issue with it at all.

Hi all,

I learned some things yesterday about a topic of great importance to some of you:

International shipping and the Flux Deluxe (and upcoming Flix), in the midst of the chaos caused by present worldwide pandemic

In short, it's kinda of a hot mess at the moment. Please pull up a chair.

I use First Class International Mail to ship internationally, specifically the "First Class Package International" service. This is the most affordable international shipping method I can find that offers tracking, and while it's not fast, it's typically "fast enough" for most people. A Flux Deluxe sent to the UK, EU, AUS, NZ, etc. via First Class Package International typically cost US$25 to ship and in pre-pandemic times (aka, "the before time") would take 10-15 business days to arrive. In contrast, the cheapest Priority Mail option for a package the same size and weight as the Flux Deluxe is US$40, and a package sent via Priority typically reaches its destination in 6-10 business days - a bit quicker, but definitely not overnight. It's still your basic "shorter time = more money" equation, and since the price difference is significant, most people would rather save the extra coin.

The thing about Priority mail, however, is that it IS prioritized for quicker transit, and that prioritization is a big reason why it's faster than First Class mail. This distinction didn't make a huge difference in pre-pandemic times, but oh boy, have things changed! First Class International Package Service is no longer an attractive option for shipping, at least at present. There's currently a HUGE international backlog for First Class Package International, in large part because so many countries have closed their borders to international travel. Packages that use the First Class International Package Service typically travel as extra cargo on commercial passenger airlines, and those planes aren't flying! So a lot of mail is stuck or moving v e r y slowly, and sometimes in weird ways.

The page linked below was posted last week (April 29) on stamps.com, the United States Postal Service's storefront and retail shipping site, detailing the situation and delays getting stuff from the US to virtually every non-North American destination. Take a look to see how service to your country may be impacted:

https://blog.stamps.com/coronavirus-updates/ -- be sure to scroll, as the individual details for each country are listed lower down on the page.

Unfortunately, the situation for this cheaper international mail service doesn't look to get better until countries lift their travel suspensions and international air travel starts back up. At this point it seems to be anyone's guess as to when that will occur.

This leaves international customers with some rather poor choices:

1. Use the First Class Package International service to save money while knowing in advance that it could take a very long time to reach you. The US$25 price still makes this service the cheapest, but the delivery time is completely unknown, and could be 6-8 weeks and perhaps even longer.

2. Pay the extra money to send your Fluxer product via Priority Mail, which will typically be US$40. This is still the cheapest alternate option, but...damn, that's a lot of money for shipping. :( For the sake of completeness, the price for sending a Flux Deluxe via a true priority service like DHL starts at US$110. :o FedEx, UPS, and similar third party services fall somewhere in between these extremes. There doesn't seem to be any good answer at the moment.

3. Decide to hold your order until the international shipping situation improves. It isn't as fun as ordering, but it may be a lot more fun than spending a bunch of money just to watch the package sit in Brussels for a month. Or to be held in San Francisco waiting for flights to Australia to resume, a situation one customer is presently enduring. :bang:

So that's the scoop. I have a few international orders in my current batch, and if you are one of these customers I'll be reaching out to you to ask you what you'd like to do.

As someone who is trying to get a new product ready for market, this is yet another wrinkle to contend with. :hmm: I'll have updates on shipping the Flix internationally as we get closer to its actual launch, but this yet another way in which the present situation sucks for all of us. :bang:

This too will pass, but it's clearly going to take some time.

Thanks again for your support and interest.:nod:

Stay safe!

Hello.
Japanese FD (110 serial)user here.
Mr.C had sent me FD via USPS priority flat rate (35USD)

Mr.C is very great customer support.
Much appreciate his greatest work.
Priority is exactly expensive, but it worth to pay for insurance and delivery speed. Especially this pandemic , no insurance is very risky..

I’m going to purchase flix also.
I will ask Mr.C about flat rate priority when I purchase flix.

Hope as well Mr.C
Stay safe everyone. :)

Awesome thank you for the reply. I think I am sticking with my 15mm choice but was hesitant considering a lot of people said it is too harsh.

Mine arrived, I’ve only been using it for about a week but so far it’s exactly what I was hoping for.

The Fluxer is sleek & well made & is so much faster than using a lighter. Just over one quick heat cycle & it’s all done & so evenly cooked

Dynavaps have always been a bit of a novelty for me but I think the Fluxer will change that & it’s now probably time to buy a new one.
Thanks for still making these sexy functional heaters @mr_cfromcali I love it, great work!

Hi all,

I make and sell induction heaters for Dynavap vaporizers under the name Fluxer Heaters ( https://www.fluxerheaters.com ). My web site has the info you need to buy my heaters, including my current models, their features, prices, ordering, and shipping information.

This thread is for talking about Fluxer Heaters on NewFuckCombustion.com. Let's continue the discussion we started in the original thread on the OG FC.

Thank you for your support and interest in my heating devices! I wouldn't be here without it!

Cheers,
:leaf:

Hi all,

As most of you know by now fuckcombustion.com will be going away in a few months, through no fault of our own.

To keep this discussion going, I've started a Fluxer Heaters thread at the New FC: https://newfuckcombustion.com/index.php?threads/fluxer-heaters-induction-heaters-for-dynavap.109/

I'll continue to post in this thread on this site for the time being, but will undoubtedly switch over to NewFC as that site becomes more popular.

As always, thanks for your support! I absolutely couldn't do this without your interest!

By the way, I have a LOT of new info to share about Fluxer stuff, which I'll do as soon as I finish editing and organizing it - info on the upcoming Flix (final feature set, how to buy, etc.), my plans for Fluxer web store, etc. I may be preparing another new product announcement as well. Maybe even more than one... :brow:

Please stay tuned - more info is coming soon! :D

Cheers and happy Friday!

Are you building up your first page on the new forum? I'd prefer to close and archive here and move on over to the new server. A good opportunity to put in a fresh 'cover page'.

Ooo, ooo ... am I the first poster??? I'm really liking the Flix and looking forward to its release. When you started your journey, you got lots of input from FC members. Some was appreciated and some, perhaps, not so much. Well, here is another "idea" that probably falls into the latter category!

I'm a neat freak about certain things, but my wife thinks of me more as an Oscar Madison. I have "WIP" projects throughout the house ... she calls them my "activity piles". I'm often picking up some stuff while hunting for other stuff that my have gotten buried and hidden by other stuff. When I pick something up, I need to put it down, so I sometimes "stack". ANYWAY ... the raised button on the top of the Flix looks, to me, like something that I might engage inadvertently by placing a book atop the unit ... or something. When I first saw it, "I thought ... I'd prefer that to be flush when idle and recessed when pressed ... to minimize risk of unintentional engagement."

After a second thought, I thought about a removable "lid/cover" that would hide, and protect, the top button, but could be easily removed if desired. Such a lid could work with either the raised switch (by having a relief in its underside) or a flush switch. The lid could match the color of the main unit, or be of a contrasting color ... perhaps a color that matches the LED trim around. the base. Because the lid would be removable, customers could get it engraved easily after purchasing it, to customize it ... or, have some custom artwork painted on it, etc., while preserving the original purity of the base unit. Fluxer could also offer custom designs in addition to "blank" covers. OK, that's all. I just had to start the new page with some pestering ... sorry, I can't help myself!

Thanks for your suggestions, @MonoLoco . I understand the appeal of adding more stuff, but I want to point out that the Flix has a dedicated on/off switch next to the DC power jack, and turning that switch off solves all of the issues you raise without adding any extra effort or expense to the project. I'm going to ask users to give that a try first, OK?

I have one or two other new devices I'll be posting about soon, and I'm sure they will elicit some comments of their own, so I see more opportunities to comment and suggest coming in the near future. :)

Cheers and happy Friday!

I'm all for moving this discussion to the new place. I started my thread at the new site, and @Mono Loco has already grabbed the "first reply" slot .

I have some things I want to get done in the shop at present, but I'll post something interesting to the new thread (or of interest to me, at any rate) in a little while. :brow: That should encourage folks to check out the new thread. ;)
