Is there a difference in draw resistance between the models/caps?

I heard some complaints about the original 'M' having a lot of draw resistance

You can leave the o-rings on if soaking in ISO alcohol for a short amount of time.
I remove the o-rings as seldom as possible...because they can stretch, and then must be replaced. All the o-rings I’ve replaced were due to being stretched, unintentionally, by me. Keeping them greased up is a real good idea; I’m not real good at remembering to do it, but $5 to oringsandmore got me a lifetime supply...only replaced 2 in 4 years, so....

re: “soaking in ISO for a short amount of time”: long soaks are pointless, as ISO is aggressive in picking up our ultra sticky byproducts. For our purposes, an hour’s soak is plenty - thirty minutes if you’re agitating. No worries!

Speaking of greasing them up, how is the current run of Dynawax? My original tub is still mostly full, but real sticky/not waxy

Vapes R Great
Just realized my jacket brand is called “Dynafit”
makes sense:razz:

Simrell MVS expected to be here on 4/20!

orings I never remove, soak the whole tip, remove the ccd if it’s really dirty
after cleaning use a little bit of wax to lube the tip o rings, they sometimes become dry and bunch up when inserting the tip.
I clean about ever two weeks. Sometimes I swap out to a different vapcap after a week.
i use the IH to dry the cleaned vap cap quicker. Do a couple dry runs.

@9.Fingers it is all personal preference I find the standard cap you can adjust to fit snug on the tip whereas the captive jiggles and lets alot more air leaving you with a whispy hit.

For the heat the M does get hot in your hands but so does the omni but not as hot and just by it being in your hands it cools quickly.

The older models were a little bit more restricted and are the ones I do prefer in the M lineup. New m have alot more airflow like I said preference.

Hope this answers some questions.

SEARCH for the treasure...
I’ve retired all my CAPTIVE caps, except the one that came with the 2020m, SS tip. On that tip the CC indents actually catch on the top grooves.

Another downside to captive caps that slip down, is if like me, now and then I vape with the DV pointing down, as you insert into a hydrotube. Now gravity allows more cap slipping downwards.

I have an old TI Woody S and a bb9 with TI tip and i would like to upgrade my dynavap setup. What's your favorite setup ? In my mind the battle is between the Simrell MVS and 2021 omnivap but the Joe King Assassin stem could also be a contender ?
I like my AVB to be very dark, even black most of the time so the last reviews of the 2021 omni giving lighter AVB concerns me a bit (this plus the high price). I could get the MVS for 150€ right now (without tip/cap but I would take one i already have and keep my BB9 as a WPA for my Firewood) and can't find a discount for the omni in europe yet.
I'm open to buy/try SS tips also if you think it can be better.
TIA to everyone !

Same here.
Captive caps are nothing but trouble and affect the efficiency of the device in a negative way. Dynavap must know this as well but as they charge nearly double the price for a captive cap compared to the original (and best) I think that has something to do with it.

On a side note, I tend to get rashes when I wear cheap steel jewelry (I guess because of the nickel?) and wanted to know if that reason alone is enough to go Titanium.
For what it’s worth, I also have that nickel contact allergy, and have been able to use the steel dynavaps for years with no issue. (But don’t let me talk you out of the titanium...)

Since i got it I've run about 14g's through the Vong and it is time for a cleaning. I found no issue with cleaning the titanium lined stem. Only took 1 qtip with a little iso. Hardly any material got in there anyway.

Just thought i would update for those who were concerned. Ain't no thang!

I just got mine Monday, and I had to clean it already yesterday. No, I didn't run half an ounce through it in two days--though I did probably toast about an eighth playing with my new toy.

I was surprised it got sticky so quickly, as I never had to clean my Ms so frequently, even though their design isn't much different in terms of collecting reclaim. I think the difference is that I've been using the VonG exclusively through water, whereas I always used my Ms native. I'm guessing that with the Ms I was wiping the mouthpiece clean with my lips, keeping it from getting sticky. The VonG, on the other hand, is just hanging there in the bubbler, subject to gravity and vacuum, so that the reclaim forms into a little drip on the mouthpiece.

Other than that minor annoyance, I love this thing. Between this, the Simrell, and my Fluxers, I'm all DV, all the time at the moment. I didn't see that coming. I've been carrying DVs as backup for years, and I always thought of them as a part emergency tool, part novelty vape. Improvements in airflow and IHs made me reconsider, and I'm glad I did.

And I love the rotating sleeve. I can see how it might have been a design afterthought for George, but it's a major feature to me. So far, mine is spinning smooth.

Pkg is now in my metro: excellent chance of delivery tomorrow ❤️

Anticipation has spurred a general inspection, inventory, and cleaning: after mentioning how my ‘caps never gunk up, my Omni gunked up.

“Collection” so far: Omni (01/17), original M (‘17?), sandblast M; Omni cubic stem, one extra TI tip and cap; extra condensers. Extra CCDs/o-rings x3; 25 orange & 25 purple hi-temp o-rings. Mouthpieces, a couple of early vongs.

Just got some metal polish, so I’m gonna brighten things up while I wait, and tips/condensers soak...ISO’s already golden. Probably put in new o-rings & CCDs all around, just because it’s spring.

Pardon my housekeeping prattle....

Land of the long vapor cloud
Is there a difference in draw resistance between the models/caps?

I can only comment on the M range.

2018 with regular cap = hard to draw through(port closed), thick clouds, abv gets dark easily.

2019 with regular cap = great draw with port closed, my fave for mouth pulls.

2020 with captive cap = very open draw, I hate it for mouth pulling. :brow: Great on a water piece with port fully open. When dynavap released the captive cap on this model I was like wtf? this sux dyna ass.

2021 with captive cap = good draw with port closed, great open on a water piece. I was sceptical about the captive cap.
But for me it works on this years model, it jumps on the click,(visual & tactile indicator) I can get my abv as dark the 2018.

Early days for sure, yet the 2021 is winning the reach test every day.

Of course you can always get a regular cap and put it on to choke the airflow a bit.

Judging by other members comments specifically regarding airflow and vapor production, it seems that DV have hit the mark with this year's models.

QC issues, well that's another matter. :worms:

The Dynaverse is crazy right now. I got my ‘21 line up. Simrell drops the MVS. Got it. JoeKing is coming out with his turbo system. I definitely want to check that out. Dynavap is doing there 4/20 sale....which I had to get in on. Just tid bits and stuff. Most importantly some captiveless caps. This is just great. I love all the excitement.

Tonight I’m playing around with the VonG, XL condenser, and dark wood mouthpiece. All IH but mostly through the Flix V2. It’s cool and mellow. That’s the Captive cap for you. My favorite WPA right now is the TI DDave Mega Wand with with a medium hot Ti tip and cap combo. The wood on my VonG spins but locks up as it heats up. I’ve decided to just leave it wide open. I like the look of the VonG but with the mouthpiece it looks a bit fugly.

I lurked on this forum for months. But I finally broke down and created an account because it is driving me nuts how little support captive caps get here. Some of you talk like it's an irrefutable fact that captive caps are worse than normal caps. I'm not here to argue, just to say that it's at least somewhat subjective.

I like the captive caps. On a 2019M, 2020M, and 2021 omni I like the captive caps. I have used 6 different captive caps and 2 noncaptive caps. I also like the noncaptive caps. Once they are on a dynavap and I'm hitting it I cannot tell the difference. It's a great experience. I love my dynavaps. Dynavap made me fuck combustion and I never even had that intention.

I hope everyone is having a splendid day!

CCD @ microdosing spot at the M2020 is really a money saver. running it without a condenser, closed airport, on a bubbler.... makes it even more efficient

glad you made an account and enjoy your captive caps! however i don't think they need support as much as a little redesign/upgrade. personally i would love the vertical play removed/reduced as it brings nothing but inconsistency to an otherwise low tolerance system.

not like some of are racists against the captive or hating on it for no good reason. it's 2 genuine specific issues resulting from the slightly wider diameter (altho George claims it's the same, this can cause fitting issues on older tips, but i can let this one slide as i don't think it can be fixed) and the vertical looseness caused by the captivation indents placement (this one breaks the captive cap on all tips for me and could be easily fixed by redesigning the indents slightly).

i want to like the captive caps and i'm sure they can be improved but i only see that happening if there's demand for it. saying it's fine when clearly people have issues with it is not going to help progress. this is all just feedback for making our beloved dynavap better.

peace.

I was literally about to purchase an AuruM from an Australian reseller to the US yesterday. Few hours after fighting my VAS off, Dynavap newsletter comes out with a surprise Aurum in the shop at half the price. Wouldn't have grabbed anything if that wasn't there. I need some itch cream for my VAS.

Been using a Ti woody hard for 3 years; got my '01 vong Monday. It's terrific- cooler and beefier than the woody, and far more attractive. I really enjoy the juxtaposition of the smooth metalwork with the sharp edge machined features. Screaming deal at the sale price even without the bonus '20M.

Been using an IH only for months now, and was using the 21 omni and decided fuck it let’s try the good ole single flame torch, wow was surprised how hard it hit, forgot a torch hits like that, there will always be a place in my stash for a torch:rockon:

The MVS is amazing, I love the new airport setting. A tad bit noisy but the hits are smooooth.
