I cant decide weather buying the crafty or the mighty.
Its a stack of money so i want it to live long.
Is the battery the onely issue wth the crafty when i take care of the housing?
A battery-exchange would not hurt me that much when this is the onely thing to do,to keep it alive.
So do you think it can stay with me for like4-5 years when i take care?
I'll probably use it 5times a week..
Thx
I think there may be other considerations in your Crafty/Mighty decision. Is stealth important? Will you use it alone or with others? Do you mind it's need for more frequent recharging?

The Mighty seems to have more fans on fc than the Crafty, but I love my Crafty.

Yes, size matters for me.
Charging it often would not matter, no bowl to bowl use, 1-2person a time

My onely concern is how many years will work

But if the mighty has a longer lifetime (exept of battery replacement), this would be my choice.

Is the crafty known to be more fragile? Is it overheating faster?

Just dont want to throw it away after 3 years, or spending more than 50€/year to get it back to life

Personnally I'd go for the Mighty. I have the Crafty and generally have been very impressed by it however at >50Hrs I think maybe the battery doesn't quite perform as well as it used to, not too sure but I'd apreciate the extra power of the Mighty as I also only (just) get 3 bowls worth before my Crafty wants charging.
Although I have been very impressed, in the last week or so I seem to have gone over to my Firefly most of the time. I think this is very likely strain related that the Crafty seems to eat through bud whereas the Firefly seems to conserve it better. I do believe this is strain related though as I used to have the opposite opinion. If I can confirm this I'll report back :-)

I will be forced to purchase another Crafty
For me, at this moment there is no better than the might and crafty.
Of course, the crafty has some weaknesses due to single battery... because of that I have two crafty's rotating. Also recently I bought an e-nano, which is a fantastic device and when I'm at home is always on;)
For me, an important factor in crafty crashes are the very high temperatures that many use the device. People use it at maximum or close to it, or use it by water! These devices do not require addition of water, were not designed for this purpose. In fact the water only spoils the flavor in my opinion.
I see that if I fill 3/4 of the bowl and do a session 5 min at 175C, the material is almost completely extracted. Increasing the temperature will still be able to take a few puffs, but the taste is not good and the desired effect does not improve anything.
If I put the same amount and increase the temperature of the session, it will be much shorter and with less flavor ...:disgust:
My advice is to reduce your vaporization temperature

I think both had case breaking issues (the fins), but both have been upgraded by S&B with stronger/thicker plastic. Mine is from before this improvement.

My Crafty never overheats, but that's why I asked if you plan to use it alone or with others.

The Crafty stands upright, but the Mighty really needs a stand to safely stand upright (you can get a great one from @Ratchett ).

Re: battery life, there are 2 sides: how long does it last before needing a charge (and of course the Mighty wins), and how many "cycles" before the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. I think but am not sure that they have similar number of cycles, but replacement costs more with the Mighty. I hope others here chime in if I'm wrong about the number of cycles comparison.

Hope this helps.

The Crafty and Mighty should be expected to have about the same number of charge cycles before needing battery replacement, assuming all else equal. The Mighty, having two batteries, will function twice as long per charge and so should last twice as long between battery replacements. (invoice for battery installed in Crafty is $70 US, two in Mighty is $90 US.)

It is the GH! However, I do not have strong faith in it lasting! Furthermore, i'm not so sure that the GH is a good replacement for the Crafty after all, simply because I think that they are just too different. My wife will most likely not be able to handle the GH due to its short vapour path and heat, unless she can get decent hits on the lower temps that are comfortable. If the GH shits the bed, and/or the wife doesn't like it - I will be forced to purchase another Crafty, unless the Boundless comes through!

Sorry to go off topic, but it's in some way related.

Have you seen the mod I suggested in the GH thread.
Put your GH silicone sleeve on and put it into the the crafty cooing unit hole, sans crafty cooling unit screen.

It is a true testament to the cooling power of the crafty/Mighty cooling unit!!!
People swear by it and says it makes their GH usable on normal higher temps.
Speak to @Volteric, he swears by it.

Hello all.
So I was thinking.
Cooling condenses the the vapor into all the sticky stuff inside the cooling unit,
We know that this "reclaim" is full of THC and other goodies.

So the fact that the cooling unit does this.
the fact that the cooling unit fills up with resin.

Using the crafty cooling unit on other vapes may or may not effect the high... IMHO

Means that not all the THC IS MAKING it into my lungs!! I am not getting all the effect.
RIGHT?

So a short HOT vapor path get you higher. Right?

One of these days somebody (I really do not have the time) needs to run some weighed tested product thorough the crafty. to test the efficiency of the crafty and its output and its reclaim.......

I do not know, BUT I do know that I am loving BLUE CHEESE at the moment. amazing flavor from the crafty!!

I thought the same thing.... But I really don't notice a difference with or without...

But I personally find that the Vapor being cooler allows me to draw it deeper into my lungs and hold it longer.

If it's hotter and harsher I can't hold it in as long and usually end up coughing it out. So in turn not as effective.

This is purely my opinion and I have no way to prove it or back it up.

You can scoop up the reclaim form the cooling unit and use that.

Completely agree.... and now after receiving my GH, as great of a product as it is, i'm debating following your lead with having 2 Crafty's, not only to rotate (and for my wife) but also for a backup should one get sick!

My advice is to reduce your vaporization temperature

Not a chance! Nothing replicates the bong snapping experience for me like setting it to 210c on a full bowl with fine grind! I get PLENTY of flavour, and it's thick! Sure not great for the Crafty, probably better suited for the Mighty. But you're right, the CU is so effective that water isn't "needed", which is another reason I love these vapes. The CU is just as much of a game changer as the GH IMO!

Sorry to go off topic, but it's in some way related.

I sure have! Tried it yesterday, but if i'm going to be using a CU, it will be attached to the Crafty or Mighty. The GH is pretty hot and can be harsh without it.

So a short HOT vapor path get you higher. Right?

I think you have something here, which is why I asked about the muzzmod vs Song for water use in the Mighty thread. You're losing actives forsure to the CU, or glass or whatever. But like @Thcgos said, you can definitely take bigger hits with the CU, and probably absorb more.

I'll know soon, because I will be comparing the Muzzmod to the Song/CU shortly!

Damn, now i'm considering buying TWO Crafty's! Honestly, I think my vape collection is going out the door, and i'm thinking the lineup will be Mighty X 2 and Crafty X 2, and VAS is over (for now). These S&B products do it for me and my wife like no others... just keep gravitating back to them!

Ain't easy being green
170 hours on my third crafty unit and still no problems.
A little bit off topic but I had to send my Mighty in last Tuesday. It took nearly 3 minutes to reach the temp. Wednesday I got an email that S&B received my unit. Thursday a package was on its way and Friday evening I had my new Mighty in my hands. This is the 4th time I had to deal with S&B's customer service and I can say it's perfect!

I want to point to everyone out that if you're living in the EU you will have 2 year warranty, even if you use the Crafty for more then 200 hours. I've got my brand new Crafty after my old one died (70hours+), turn over time was 1 week.

Same in US, except for batteries, and on battery replacement we have a variety of stories.
Are you saying that in EU batteries are also covered for the two years?

Unlike some members experience, my Crafty battery replacement was based on number of charge cycles the battery had gone through, not usage hours on device.
S&B America told me that I had racked up over 900 charge cycles. Though the rep acknowledged this as "impressive", and though I disagreed with the 900 and even though the unit only had about 140 hours on it, I was billed and paid $50 US (back in summer '15, now I think it's $70.)

ONLY 140 hours on it? I think you did well! Definitely above average from what i've read here.
That was good ol' C-2!
I wasn't at all unhappy when they sent a new, boxed piece. When that (C-3) died I was able to upgrade to a Mighty. I love it.

Using a Pax/Pax2 maybe 20% of total, for wife & self, the Craftys' hours counters showed additional, average use of 35 hours/ month over a 10 month period.

All this data now grist for the mill! 'cause I'm pretty sure the usage is up since M-1 arrived!

Yes the battery are also covered in the 2-year warranty, EU laws...

...............................................................................

Those figures seem odd:
140 hours with 900 charge cycles = 6.4 charge cycles per hour of use.
That is like a charge cycle after every 9.3 MINUTES of use.

@vapviking Does that seem like how you used/charged it??

No, I disagreed with their number's derivation as well as the metric - meaning, the use of this number to determine how someone had used the battery. They (likely the battery manufacturer) call the number "charge cycles." As far as I can tell, it's not just a pure count, but also a function of the user's habit. Even at that, 900+ is a wacky number. Explanations from c/s were pretty weak, though I'll say I at least got to speak with somebody about it!
So long ago now, but I'm recalling that when battery was failing to charge, it was sitting on the charger trying, then stopping, over and over, through a night and almost a day, and I didn't know what was happening. I speculate that this activity may have skewed the count.

I can admit to returning the Crafty to the charger often, not only when way down. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Like I said, nice to get a new piece, even at fifty bucks!

@vapviking do you presently own a Crafty, or just the Mighty? After my GH experience, i'm seriously debating getting another Crafty - but it's so hard, considering I know what will happen with the heatup and battery, but there just isn't a better alternative for portability at the moment. Maybe i'll just wait for the boundless CF review, and decide after that.... thing is that vape doesn't have a CU, and the CU is a gamechanger for vaping without water for me.

I liked the Crafty but it wasn't nearly as well suited to my use as the Mighty. After 3 Crafty's in a 10 month period I went to the Mighty and it's working out much better (at 3-1/2 months, all is well).

Been vaping for 3 years now, having originally gone in 'blind' with a Pax, which literally changed my 40+ year daily cannabis combustion habit overnight. Crafty was then a big step to take early last year, though that trip has wound us up with Mighty doing the heavy lifting and a Pax2 for (backup!) occasional use and really nice pocket-ability. Wife likes the Pax2 for her commute. It has obvious limitations compared to even Crafty, but it does put out great clouds and very good initial taste. Even had some success thru water with it. And holding it is just a nice tactile experience. (I could go on...10 year warranty, great battery...)

To clarify, as a second piece of only two in my collection, we like having the change of pace that the Pax2 gives us. Having the Mighty leaves no room nor reason for Crafty in the mix, for me.

I've had to be relatively selective in purchases, having limited budget - though I am on board for a hoot (or is it a chirp?) with Grasshopper which I may or may not receive in a couple of months!?!? These forums have provided so much info and feedback; it's just great.
And, yeah, fuck that combustion.

After about 60 hours and 6 months my Crafty finally failed (flashing lights and send to S&B message on app). I see where tracking shows it was received by S&B Friday...... What is the typical turnaround time for those that have processed warranty claims?

I hope its fairly quick because I don't have a good portable backup vape.
