I just received my Crafty about a week ago-seemed to not stay powered long,so I kept my eye on the time after last recharge and it only stays charged for 25 minutes of power before dying completely.I am getting about 2 1/2 bowls per charge and it runs a total of about 3 minutes per use with me just taking 2 or 3 hits.Does this seem kind of low?-I hear a lot of people saying 45-60 minutes.I was wondering since my sessions are so short if the constant heating up to temp kills battery quicker
I'm confused by what your saying-maybe I wasn't clear on my part-I fill up my bowl all the way, take two to three hits per session and each bowl is about 3 sessions worth and I get to do that 2 1/2 times (total 25 minutes runtime)before battery dies. Are you saying 3-5 1/2 bowl sessions or 3-5 half filled bowl sessions?
What you explain is normal
the people getting longer run time are using the crafty as a session vape and your usage is more like an on demand vape, I can get 6 bowls finished in 6 sessions (crazy fast and hard) similar to your usage but when I fill a bowl I finish it before turning crafty off, this is why I get more bowls as getting upto temp as mentioned uses more power than maintaining temp, you need to think of it more as power used rather than time elapsed.
The average user will normally get 3-4 bowls lasting 8-12 minutes per bowl (each bowl finished each time), so less heat up cycles 3-4 compared with your 7-8 heat up cycles per charge (if I understood correct, 3 heat ups per bowl and 2.5 bowls per charge gives roughly 7-8 heat ups)
I've done a bit of research, and haven't been able to find a conclusive answer, maybe you guy's know.
I've been looking into a Mighty for a while...the idea of the top, near the oven, cracking, just from normal use, just really puts me off. Personally find it hard to shell out that kind of money if it's going to degrade like that. Regardless of how great customer service may be, I don't want to actually have to deal with customer service
But, does the Crafty have the same problem? Cracks that appear near the oven, can't tell if you're vaping plastic or not?
I don't even know if I'm seriously considering one, but I am genuinely curious if users of the Crafty are experiencing the same problem.
The USB Powerbank has almost sold me on it....I value a good battery life, so the idea of being able to pop on a bank to extend it seems really sweet. (I have powerbanks) Does it harm the unit working in this way? Because I guess it's considered using while charging? I hadn't looked into that at all, just was a thought that came while writing.
Everyone that buys a crafty of mighty at somepoint
will have to deal with customer service, as the battery even with the most care taken will degrade over time and it's not made to be user changeable, having said that IMO the
average user should get 1-2 year before it
needs replaced although this will vary on usage.
And your correct it's not true pass through, it is charging while using (it takes longer to charge than to empty with use, this means it uses more power than the charger can supply), doing this will kill battery life/capacity quicker than normal use, think of a laptop when first new the battery has good life, but if used while plugged in over time the battery gets worse quicker than normal, this is why I remove the battery when using a laptop while plugged in (unfortunalty with the crafty we don't have this option)
The crafty
is designed to be used like this, but IMO I see it as something it
can do rather than something for regular use, I mean if you want to run a vape from a power cord that's what desktops are for really.
In reality IMO the best way to use a power bank would be, after a bowl or two (should be enough for most users) plug it in and charge it up (while not using it in the time before you next need a hit) giving a shorter charge time and no
extra stress on the battery, and only use while charging in desperate times.
And I think the cracking plastic has been resolved now with o-rings and new moulding, seems like a while since anyone has posted issues with their crafty (and I guess S&B after finding a fix would apply it to both units not just one) I could be wrong here and things could develop in time but so far all seems good.
So I was flipping through the manual on the "new/warranty" replacement and I came upon something I hadn't noticed before.
S&B says not only disconnect the charger cord from the crafty, but also unplug the charger itself.
Does everybody do that? Does having the charger plugged in all the time have some negative consequences that anybody knows of? I've never seen that recommendation from other rechargeable vapes.
~
I always unplug my charger but that only because I have a charger box (otherwise they end up lost, never remember where I left them)
IMO it's probably as not all country's have switches on their outlets, being in the UK we do, so as long as it's switched off the power is cut, being unfamiliar with other country's electric outlets I cant comment on safety there, but from a power used side it will be minimal similar to phone chargers.
Something worth checking would be if while charger is plugged in but not connected to crafty, does it get warm/hot, if it does to my understanding heat ain't good for any electronics.
On a different note I have been a little quiet here as I has been finding strange things going on with my crafty...strange but not bad.
From day one my heat up time has been around 2:30, but once I hit 20 hours for some reason it is now more like 1:50
I really don't understand, there was a point I thought I had worked it out
after a clock I use needed a battery change...but then I thought about it and that would be backwards
as a slow running clock would give a shorter heat up then longer with new battery and mine went from longer to shorter, so back to just complete
I do feel a little closer with my crafty atleast as we are both as backwards as eachother
This is the reason I have held off posting here:

Once I figure it out or it settles I will add my results.
