Trying to choose between mighty or crafty.
Crafty might be the best for me because I need stealth and pocket ability. Mighty can be stuffed in a front pocket but it's probably super uncomfortable.

Battery life is not an issue since I will be carrying around a 1600mah portable USB charger here which should be enough for 5 full charges. Found it on Amazon through a company named anker. I can post link later if anyone wants.
USB is another win for crafty. They are everywhere now.
edit:**I meant 16000mah

It's real.
So does anyone know if the weakened batteries have been tied to letting it sit on the charger too long or is it just from natural use?

I'm guessing if you let it charge at 100% it's no good as from previous posts, but it's hard to remember all the info on this thread...

lithium ion batteries are damaged by heat and staying fully charged instead of cycling.
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

Staying fully charged refers to storage (not in use for weeks/months) rather than leaving on charge @100%

Leaving on charge @ 100% shouldn't cause any issues due to the PCB inside the crafty, but this is only the case as long as the PCB does what its supposed to do (without failing, remember no component is 100% fail safe)

So the chance of it causing problems are there but they are very remote IMO.

So if your not going to use a battery for extended time (weeks/months) its best to store it at iirc 60-70% around 3.6v for this kind of battery, but even while not in use they will degrade as @biohacker said.

Edit:charging to 80% will take a lot less time normally when charging in an external charger due to the cc,cv,tc (way it charges,tc (trickle charge the last and longest part) cuts the A of the charge as it tops off the battery, so 80% will mean much less time charging for a small sacrifice in battery usage per charge! and less heat due to less time. But I'm unsure of the method the crafty uses to charge so couldn't say if this would work with the crafty 100%.

This thing is a beast. I don't know how many times it will charge the Crafty because I always wind up also using it for my phone or iPad several times:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M2ZNGHU/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one gives me 4-5 Crafty charges, is more portable, and charges it in under 2 hours:

Thanks for all the replies everyone. So which unit can provide more charges out of those 2 amazon ones or the one storz and Bickel sells?

On a side note. Did anyone notice that s and b lowered the price to $340 now. So mad I bought it when it was $399. I wonder why they did that?

They lowered it about a week or two ago. Getting rid of inventory perhaps? I'm sure they are already testing a prototype of the next model(s)
The S&B battery only charges the Crafty twice. Those Amazon ones look better

I believe it's $50. I don't like that price or the fact that you have to send the unit in. I'm glad I got lucky in this area. But the truth is, I love the Crafty so much, that I am still willing to pay it rather than go with another current brand. I've tried many others and there is something I dislike about them all. I'd rather have my dislikes be associated with non-session issues if you know what I mean. I love the way the Crafty vapes. So smooth and effortless. My cheeks don't end up touching cuz I'm sucking so hard I'm about to implode.

Thats not bad, 50 seems reasonable, especially if you can get 1-2 years out of the stock battery. If it was over 50 though, i think it would be too much

They're moving fast if a new prototype is being tested...didn't it take them like 6 years to release the volcano digital after the classic? I hope I didn't buy my crafty only to have something new come and stir up my VAS again...:uhoh:

Ok a SnB tech called me this morning. I missed the phone call but he left me a msg. A very interesting msg that I'm not sure how to interpret. Maybe a more tech savvy person will find this interesting.

I had left a post on this forum about how SnB was replacing my whole unit with a brand new one. While I was very happy about this, I was also very surprised. ( since all I had was a cracked casing.) I had also requested my battery be swapped out for a new one. However, I had not been able to talk to a tech, only a company receptionist who looked up the info for me, and informed me of my enrouted brand new unit.

So the msg for the tech...

He said the reason they decided to replace my unit was that as he inspected it he noticed the motherboard had a "abnormality" and wanted the techs in Germany to see it, so he felt it necessary to send my exact unit in to them. Hence, my new replacement.

I am posting this here for one reason, just to make other owners aware that this is a possibility.

For clarity, I had a CY00 unit.

Wait, how does he know it has an "abnormality" without inspecting the device?

Typically, these types of term are really broad and it basically means your unit is not functioning the way it should and they will need to inspect it.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear there, he did inspect it. The receptionist was only reporting info that had been listed by the tech on my account. Which said I had been issued a new unit. No other explanation at that point when I talked to her.

The tech that looked at it called this morning. He was the one that reported the abnormality. Not the receptionist. The reason he called is I had tried to contact tech support and could not get a live person. So I dialed the "0"option and the receptionist/operator looked up my account.

Hope that clears it up. If not my earlier posts outline the way everything happened.

Yea they upgraded the casing so it doesn't flex when u open it after its hot. So they're being nice and want to give u the newer updated one. Be happy! The newer one doesn't flex at all and that was annoying me on the old one it felt cheap and flimsy

HIGHLY doubt they're going to come out with another one unless it's a more expensive version like how the digital came after the classic volcano. But I can't imagine them coming out with anything that is that much better then the crafty except maybe an all aluminum version might be nice but it would probably get really hot. I really would love to know what they can possibly make better for a newer one. I mean how much better can it get besides the materials it's made with ?

The price was dropped probably because it became so popular and they made so many they can afford it now. And they might even be giving you the old ones for that price. Who knows lol. Also they might be doing it to compete with resellers who are selling it below $399

Oh I AM very happy. And I know what you mean, that always bugged me a little to.

You may be right, but I just didn't get that feeling. If it was just a housing thing, wouldn't it be simpler to just slap new housing around my old unit?

Also, why would he pass on the opportunity to sell me a 50 dollar battery change, as I requested, if it was just a housing issue?

Anyways, either way, just posing about it for info sake.

UPDATE!!! Crafty just arrived. Brand new sealed box with all the normal accessories. Including a new charger. I love this. Now I can keep my old one next to my bed full time and use the new one in my travel case. Thank you SnB!

/Satisfied customer.

UPDATED UPDATE! DM pesso was right on. New casing feels very firm. And in particular, one of the two front brackets that hold the CU in place had snapped off my old unit, the new one appears to have had these brackets strengthened. Nice.

Funny, I have a slightly broken plastic part as well; barely notice it, but it does flex when hot. Also, I have no info on S&B, I just assumed those amazing German engineers were already working on the next version; maybe with a battery that lasts 3-5 hours and gets less hot? Perhaps the Crafty and Mighty will become one someday. One can dream....

Yup exactly what I was thinking, their portables have not even hit their birthdate yet!

And my guess also was that the price drop was due to competition against all the new vapes coming out.

Was tripping out with the Mighty and Crafty last night....realized something with the Crafty when I was fucking around with the app. When people don't know anything about the Crafty, it's so much fun to use the app and trip them out by turning the LED on and off when you choose without their knowledge! :brow:

So nice that the CU's are interchangeable! I think the Mighty definitely has the edge on smoothness.

Both of these vapes impress the shit out of me at 210c through a bubbler! WHITEWALL CITY!!

Never thought of this. The problem with my friends is, they don't know nothing about vaping at all. So I use the crafty to introduce them to our beautiful hobby. And I have still the control over it via the app! I have the power! (Like He-Man, or like @stuy1976)
I just load it up and let them draw without instructions at all. If someone is drawing to hard without knowing and has a sensible throat, I just dial the temp down with the app. If the next one is more puffin like on a joint, I can raise the temps slightly to where it's needed to give satisfaction.

So I can finally introduce them to vaping or just get them high in a very comfortable way without combusting while we have a nice discussion about something else than vaping. No talk about draw technique, batterie performance, or anything like this!

Of course, towards the end of the 2nd session, when we switch to the mighty, they wonder by themselves why they are still combusting and some more questions about this are coming up. Just when they are asking about vaping and temperature, they have the mighty with temp dial on it in their hands. So they can experiment by themselves a little to find the sweet spot!

Edit: I should have written the text in simple past perfect. I just realized my friends do know quite a lot about vaping, now! Some of them are asking me to fire the S&B portabkes on each time they are visiting me. They just don't want to pay 300.-€ for a Vape if the black OCB papers "are so cheap"

Would using the car adapter accessory for the Crafty charge it faster than USB directly into my car, or would it be the same? What about the car adapter vs. using my inverter plugged into the cig lighter? same?

It should be in the manual of your inverter and the manual of your car. How fast the USB-port of your car charges depends on the car you're driving. Just look at the output amperage of both. The cig lighter should be way more powerfull (~120watt). So it's really depending on the cig light inverter.
USB-ports in cars have around 0,5 to 1,0 ampere. Usually 0,5A. And they stop charging when the car is locked. Not so the cig lighter (depending on your car, too. Mine does charge when locked)

Edit: I would always use the cig light adapter when possible. It could harm to your USB port if a device pulls too much power!
