If I would buy a mighty from a retailer, could I send it directly to Storz for repair and guaranty reasons?

From @oli post above it says:

-a copy of the invoice or proof of purchase showing the date of purchase (if you do not have this info, please just let us know when & where you bought it);

I would guess this means you should be fine, although it may have to be an authorised retailer :shrug:If you don't have proof of purchase.

I would guess proof of purchase is just for warranty claims though to make sure its still covered.

I have a vague memory of units being covered wherever they are bought but I'm doubting myself now and it could have been for a different vape:hmm:

I know after i checked with vapefiend they said some things they can handle (i guess a replacement unit) but some things S&B say the customer has to deal with them (S&B) direct.

Hi all, I have not been checking up on this forum since the holidays when I purchased my Crafty. Really like it EXCEPT every session gets abruptly called off when the thing shuts off due to overheating. I pack barely half the bowl size fill the rest with the oil pad start with low and then crank to high on default temp settings. But before the vapor runs out, it turns off. Any tips tricks around this?

Are you sure your crafty's overheating? Is it flashing red/blue?
If it's not it may just be timing out, if so turn it back on.

Yeah remember the crafty has a tiny 1 minute auto shut off, and to stop this you either have to press the button every minute or drop the temp enough when you draw.

On the other hand if its flashing like @grokit mentioned and you cant even finish one bowl i would send it off if it was mine.

Got my Crafty early in this week, used it 1st time yesterday. Def got me medicated, just have some few (noobie) questions.

When I'm taking draws the temperature drops after 4 secs? I'm using the default 180°C and few seconds after it It will drop constantly to about 170°C and a bit lower if taking long puff. Is this normal? And should I always wait that it gets back to 180°C after dropping to 170 or so?

If I'm not using full bowl, should I use LP? I've seen some disagreement about this.

And about battery, It took 2 full bowls and had 1 bar of battery left. Any tips & tricks to make it to 3 bowls?

Welcome to the Crafty brotherhood! The temp drop is completely normal, and no different from say an Arizer Solo. I would wait until it rebounds back to your set temp. I think my personal record is a massive draw with like a 40c drop!

I would also use the LP with partial full bowls like S&B suggest. Better results.

You should be able to get 3 bowls fairly easily. There are so many variables, but probably need to burn through your bowl a bit faster. I don't think i've ever had less than 3 bowls on a full charge, although warmup speed to 180c has increased slightly.

With respect to overheating. Mine has never done that but from time to time a warning came up on the app that said "battery temperature is too high".

Thanks for the fast reply, just got few questions more that I forgot to ask.

When I know the bowl is fully used? When it doesn't produce any more vapor/the vapor amount is very low?

When I can take another bowl after doing one? Should I wait a bit to crafty cooldown or can I dump the 1st and make another right after the 1st is done?

Should I use higher temps? If I'll use higher temp then I will get different effects? I've collected the first bowls so I can make some abv edibles, so If I use higher temp, the abv will be less efficient? Can I just get the temp up with crafty app during session?

Yep, you got it. I vape until there is no more vapour...it actually happens fairly abruptly. If you stop getting vapour at a certain temp, you have a couple of choices - either crank up the temp and finish it, or dump the ABV and do whatever you like with it.

You could do back to back bowls, but it's possible that a "battery is too hot" warning will pop up on the app, sometimes. By doing back to back bowls, the Crafty doesn't have time to cool down to room temp, and thus will heat up faster, and perhaps give you more bowls per battery cycle. It's the initial heatup from room temp to vaping temp that puts the greatest demand on the battery.

The higher the temp the heavier and more sedating the effects, but everyone is different. I find it next to impossible to limit myself to low temps only. So yes, you should use higher temps! lol Yep use can increase or decrease your temp via app anytime you want!

Your abv edibles will be less potent if you extract from it via higher temps, but IME ABV edibles are so hit and miss and unpredictable that i've moved on....all my abv ends up in the composter. Most vial substance known to me.

Notes taken, thanks! I'll have to try the firecracker recipe first, after that I'll try higher temps. Does the higher temp produce more/thicker vapor?

yes it is ! At 180 C you get nice amount of vapor but if you pick it up to 193 C the cloud is much more massive, and if you fire it at 210 with some water tool the cloud is unbelievable huge!

So a testament to Craftys extraction effeciency...

I'm one of those people that gets paranoid and uncomfortable if I vape to heavy in one sitting. But honestly I use enough, that I don't usually find that limit anymore, at least often. ( Sounds like a contradiction I know. )

While my Crafty was away for 6 days being repaired, I had to fall back to my Solo, and a couple times away from the house, my Pax. By day two I could not wait for my Crafty back because I honestly hate draw resistance. But I vaped away as usual.

Since I got Crafty back, I have "over did it" several times now. lol. :uhoh:

Same material. Same habits, just apparently a diminished resistance, in just 6 days, using what used to be top of the line vapes.

I know this is anecdotal evidence, but it impresses me.

/Talks to himself saying..." You're not about to die and they are not all against you."

/Puts crafty away...

I can completely understand....I can't stand draw resistance in vapes, and won't use any that have it. IMO there is absolutely no comparison in air flow between the Solo and Crafty. Solo gives me a headache.

Wow really? :o
Im intrigued most i can get from 180°c is 173°c so a drop of 7 although i use full bowls:hmm:, will have to test to see if half bowl makes any change.

My firmware is v02.05, wondering what others can achieve in terms of temp drop?

I guess 170°c could be explained by room temp difference but a 40°c drop seems a lot to me, maybe my lung power is not as good as i thought :shrug:although i can finish a bowl in around two minutes so it cant be too bad.

i have the same experience, i can drop it from 195 C to 188 C but never more , after a few degrees the heater starts reaching the set up temperature and it´s impossible to drop the temperature more. I draw long hits from 10 to 15 seconds and i finish the half bowl in 2-3 hits (full bowl 4-6 hits) . my unit is v02.05 too

crafty is milking 42 cm water bong without any problem - 2 huge clouds out of half bowl at 210:science:

It will drop, and keep dropping until I stop inhaling. Then it kind of pauses, and then will slowly start building back up. My lungs are pretty big though and i'm good shape.

my crafty is acting kinda different, it starts dropping when i start inhaling but after few degrees it pauses and build up the temperature back to set up while i´m inhaling.

This is perfectly normal. Drawing in cool air overwhelms the heater temporarily, but the heater recovers once the draw is stopped.

For some reason I can't do the same thing to my Mighty. The crafty is firmware 2.04. Heatup to 180c is now 2:44. At 4 hours it was 1:45, at approx. 20 it was 2:20, and now at 34 it's 2:44. I think this is on average with others from the searching i've done in this thread with respect to warm up times. After a bowl, it's more like 3:00 to warm up. Too much for my needs, especially in comparison to the Mighty.

S&B told me on the phone that the battery swap for $50 isn't even implemented yet because the product is too new.

Maybe that is part of the firmware change, perhaps it draws power sooner to keep temp better?

Also i seem (i say seem as stupidly i never wrote down any results:doh:) to have longer heat up times (at those hours) than you but my heat up time doesn't seem to have changed as much although I'm still at 17 hours. I will start to keep a list and when i have a few i will share to compare:tup:

The 'too new' thing seems right to me, i know there is a lot of worry about these batteries but IMO the 'average' user should get 1-2 years usage from them before needing changed (although this will vary depending on usage) so i guess S&B may do the odd one but i think we are still a little way before the floodgates open, although this is just guess work on my part and i will either be proved right or fall flat on my face and go and hide in the corner in shame

how much does a full bowl hold again? Thx

Cant help with that one, i have never weighed just stuff it in and enjoy:science: But i guess it will depend on how much you grind? My answer would have to be just the right amount:D

Got my Mighty 3 weeks ago. Haven't used my Crafty since. Similar quality vapor but the Mighty seems to heat up quicker and I love the visual display and ease of temp change. The Mighty fixed the one or two things that I didn't like about the Crafty. The size difference is relatively minor compared to the improvements. Dare I say, the perfect vape?

Modnote: back to back posts merged

Forgot to mention the battery life lasts almost all day with the Mighty as opposed to having to constantly be charging my Crafty. Sorry guys, don't meen to be Crafty bashing on here. I absolutely love Crafty too, I swear.
