That's an interesting question that I hadn't considered. I suppose the micro plug/pin could be different number of contacts, but the USB end seems standard. I tried different ones and they all seemed to work. I've been using the one I showed and its been charging up ok.

Perhaps our electronics experts could chime in?

I'm no electronics expert, but I've been using the USB cable from my Kindle Fire (don't judge me) and it works perfectly fine.

Check the numbers (volts and output) on the chargers. If they match then it's compatible.

The shorter the cable the better. The current drops with cable length. You'll want to use a high quality cable, some will specify current capabilities.

Crafty charger output 10 watts of power - 5v @ 2 amps.

When I get my Crafty, I'm going to use ISO to clean all the parts, let them all dry and then reassemble.

I'll see if I taste anything plasticy then.

So all of the sticky gunk I scraped out of the mouthpiece since buying at the start of December can be vaped? I tried to light it on fire to see if it melted, but it caught on fire so I put small balls of it between two layers of bud.

I did the same and there was just a light smell/taste after and after some vaping
it disappeared completely:tup:
What I found at first after opening the cooling unit, was that the smell only came from the o-rings:shrug:,
anyone discovered the same?

Another thing I can absolutely recommend is trying a stem instead of the cooling unit:rockon:,
I used the enano (all glass/honeycomb) stem put in one of the enano screens to get the herb closer to/in the
heating chamber of the crafty, then sealed it with an o-ring from the cera(mouthpiece).
So now you have ONLY convection, if thats what you want!

Edit: Would like to know if the solo stems will fit also

Any photos? I'm wondering if you or anyone can think of a way to change out just the cooling chamber/mouthpiece? Any way to make just the draw stem be glass?

Works great IMO, though the way I do it, I need both hands to press the o-ring against the funnel shaped filling piece. BTW no smell/taste/melt from the o-ring (its high temp silicone),
on the cera I'd say its about the same temp on that place (maybe a bit hotter on the cera, since its completely surrounded by ceramic
IIRC someone on the mighty thread or @Ed's TnT thread already asked him to make a stem for it

You could try it the way @oli did, just use a stem (enano/solo) instead of a gong :brow:
Cut off the thread part of the cooling unit, increase the hole :uhoh: scoop the stem through it and fix it with two o-rings (one on each side) or the glue @oli used

Hello,

@Herbalist23 You are correct my man, I have been asked to do so and the guy is gonna be sending me the parts I need sooner or later I believe. I am finally starting to get a little down time I am hoping, have another iron in the fire for a different vaporizer I got to get something made for so doing something for this one would be a good time now if not sooner rather than later. Hang in there with me bro, I am always up for a challenge and if all goes well I will post up ASAP!

wow thanks for that great info...

i tried it with my enano gong on something like this http://www.dhresource.com/200x200s/...ory-hot-sale-14-19-female-converter-glass.jpg to make it longer...
and it worked really good ...
don t know why storz and bickel made such a bad mouthpiece (cooling unit) it makes the whole vaping experience so bad (taste, efficency) now the crafty used with gong tastes much better and it is also more efficent (because after i take a draw i can stop the cooking of my herb like log vapes or arizer solo...)(also "full" convection vape)
hopefully @Ed's TnT can make some stems like log vape stems and so on which fit in the chamber tight then storz and bickel can keep theirs sh** mouthpiece

maybe also @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd can make some nice glass stems, steamroller or gongs

now i like the crafty much more... (wasn t happy with it before...)

hope that operating the crafty this way is not bad for the crafty (because storz and bickel recommend using crafty with the mouthpiece on)

again thank you for that great idea Herbalist23

Pleased to help you enjoy your crafty :)

Since you mentioned the enano gong, you can also use it the same way (with o-ring) as a wp adapter for the crafty, works also great IMO :o

Another thing I'd like to try is to use a herbal aire cruicible in the crafty :\
I think it should fit in there in diameter, just shorten a bit to fit the depth and push another screen in this 'disc' , so now you can take out your herb in one move if not in use
If you make some more of this herb discs, you can preload them or use different strains...

EDIT: Just want to point out that I dont think the original cooling unit is a bad thing,
but I like to have more stuff to play with and more options!

Same issue here. The AppStore page says it should work on an iPad, but my iPad 2 won't connect or even detect the Crafty in the Bluetooth settings or app.

What's the cheapest, low end Android that works with this, assuming I want to pick up a used device strictly for this unit? I'm not interested in migrating from my prepaid Nokia as a phone.
I've posted further back in the thread a detailed document on how to setup an Android VM on a Windows PC as long as you have Bluetooth 4.0 LE support (which you can add with a cheap USB dongle)

So as long as you have a Windows PC ... I would guess you could do this for ~$10 even if you don't have Bluetooth on that PC/laptop.

I solved this early on since there was no iOS app originally ... and I don't own an Android device ... (and continue using it sometimes since I've hacked the app and get to the debugging console with the Android App which I can't do with the iOS app)

Have any of you guys tried using your Crafty outdoors in the cold? I have been pretty happy with the performance myself. It definitely takes quite a bit longer to preheat, but once it gets up to temp it holds it pretty well during draws.
I have only vaped outside with it down to about 10 degrees Fahrenheit so far though.
Quick Outdoor Instagram Crafty Video (Is there any way to embed instagram videos? I cant get them to show up in the thread)
I've vaped multiple sessions in -25 to -35 deg. C. weather quite a few times and it performs admirably! Got four full bowls and it didn't die on me this weekend before remembering to charge in -25 or so weather ... No issues at all ... if anything it excels here as the vapor is SOOOO cool when the air coming in is at -20 to -30 or so :)

My reclaim of about 15gr of flowers ran through crafty yelded 0.4gr oil. Not a bad return! I been just smearing on a light coat to oilpad and lay it oil side down on about 0.1 flowers. Huge vapor at max temp. So much it caused a cough

I hope all have a great christmas and holidays. Gonna be taking a short tbreak then returning im sure with a new level of respect for crafty.

Recently had to leave my home unexpectedly. I had about 30 minutes to pack and get out, please don't ask why. Crafty took very good care of me in this emergency situation. With my power bank, cell phone, and quick charger I was able to set up in my temporary location and run everything. Getting ready to hit the road to visit the family for a couple days. Will be taking both Crafty and Mighty.

How exactly are you reclaiming this oil? I mean can you explain it to me like I'm a five year old please? :-)

@VitaminM I use 91% ISO from the dollar store.

I fill up a small Tostitos salsa jar just above the cooling chamber parts.

I let it soak for about an hour, periodically shaking it.

Cooling chamber looks like new!

Here is the ISO after cleaning.

I sometimes use this same method to reclaim my oil. To reclaim it, either vacuum purge it, or put it in a 6x6 pyrex dish with a fan on top blowing away from the dish.

***make sure to do this in a well ventilated area***

Wait at least 2 days (or until ISO is completely evaporated) and scrape up the reclaim with a Skilletool or razorblade and put it in a dab dish or on parchment paper (never use wax paper it has paraffin in it).

The higher the grade of ISO the less water in it (IE 91% ISO has 9% water) The lower the ISO rating the more water is in it. It will still work, just takes longer.
You should be able to find 91% ISO at most dollar stores, or something close to it.

This method has always worked great for me.

Hope this helps!

Thats the method I used. Took me some time but worked great. I used 99% ISO. I used the brush to get all of the oil out of the nooks inside of the cooling unit.
