Hello People!!! I am returning to the Ascent thread to see how they are performing and holding up. I really love the design. I just recall there being some minor problems initially when launched. I just want to know how's vapor output and reliability. Sorry if this seems like an annoying question to some.
Howdy Mr Connoisseur!
I've only had my Ascent a couple weeks so far but I have to say I LOVE IT!!
Learning proper packing and drawing technique is key with this device, and reading through this thread was extremely helpful in getting me up to speed with those things. Once you've got a good load packed down firmly (but not too firm), and possibly even placed a few glass flower screens on top for spacers as needed, then the vape is top notch. The draw is looser and less suck-age needed than for example with the Solo.
Even when I'm at home, I find myself reaching for my Ascent over my Solo. Possibly it's just the newness factor, but I haven't had to stir my load halfway through like I do with the Solo. (Though I sometimes have to pack my puck down a little bit when I'm using some of my fluffier blends.) But when the bowl is spent, I've always gotten nice, evenly brown ABV, a feat I never quite accomplished with the Solo, even though that does put out tasty vapor as well.
@CheriePie : you got the last version indeed... and yes the small "lip" tends to destruct itself with time (and my bad it's on the upper part not the lower as I said)
Thanks for the confirmation that my unit is indeed up-to-date. I guess my pics can serve the community as visual confirmation that the latest fixes are incorporated even in models with the 1AA1 serial number/production code.
The puck shouldn't unpack unless A) you didn't pack it enough in the first place B) you drew too hard C) you shook the device... or D) your material was of fluffy consistence and became looser as it dried.
I'll take D for the win Maestro!
Yeah I'm an MMJ patient here in Cali so I have several different strains at my disposal at any given time.
And several of them--particularly the ones best suited for my migraines--are quite fluffy after grinding. Add to that the fact that they're all fresh, sticky buds--none of those dried out little nubs I used to have to rely on--and indeed a of the drying out definitely occurs during the first few hits of a new bowl.
To make your bowl last longer start at low temps and increase the temperature once each level is depleted. Also try to find a flash light or use your phone and hold it near your mouth when you exhale, it helps to visualize how much more vapor there is in reality. Do that a couple times to train your brain to associate the taste and feelings in your lungs to "good hit", then you will be able to stop making a fixation on visible vapor exhale.
Yup this is exactly how I hit it (and with my Solo as well). I love the taste at the lower temps, and also being able to get maximum mileage from my bowl at the higher temps.
