Hey guys... is there a difference between the Solo Ground Glass on Glass Adapter 14 mm no carb......and the PVHEGonG 14 MM......other than performance....what I am asking is, are they the same "pencil" one is just sharper than the other?

I don't like the carb there, for i hear it gets hot.......but planetvape is OUT of everything!! thanks guys!

The regular gong is like a stock stem but gong. The PVHE gong has a less restricted draw.

If the issue is the carb hole (and you don't want one), don't let it hang you up. I just wrapped a few turns of the white teflon tape used in plumbing around it and it's been working great. There's another guy that's using the end broken off a bamboo skewer, which has that organic feel if you asked me. The teflon tape is fast, cheap, easy and works well.

I have both the PVHE Gong and non-PVHE (regular) GonG. I couldn't tell a difference between the two paired with the Pinnacle HydroTube.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
People wouldn't have issues with airflow if they read the thread first and then they wouldn't have to break a perfectly good glass stem...ugh. To many questions and not enough reading makes us all do silly things. Vaping is a journey and you have to put in the work.

With this bubble & solo what kind of gong would I need? can i use tube for the time being? what will be the best kind of gong to get & what size would i need? thanks in advance..

I believe that has a 14mm joint, is that what the site says? If so you can use the stock solo stem with it. You can also try putting on maybe .5" of silicone tubing over the top of the stem so it will have some cushion. If its 18/19mm then from what I understand the silicone tubing is mandatory to make the stem thicker.

  • Vapor Bubbler
  • About 4.5 Inches Tall
  • 19mm Vapor Attachment
  • Joint Size is 19mm
  • Mouthpiece Joint Size is 14mm
those are the specs. will i be able to add ice in this bubbler? anyone has the link where i can get the silicone tube from?

I use the standard 18mm (correct size) with the carb hole taped shut. The bare stem is too small really without a gasket of some sort. The unit is barely stable (top heavy, small base) with the 'right' GonG fitting, I'd be afraid of it falling over all the time with something wiggly in there.

No, the MP is 14, the inlet is 18.

Ok so if its 18mm then for the time being you could place silicone over an inch or so of the stem and it will make the stem larger. If you have the $ and PV is in stock then sure buy the 18mm gong for the convenience factor.

i am a little confused as i am really new to all these things. don't they sell a gong with out the carb hole? does the solo still perform good upside down?

there's so many gongs to pick from. shorty, turbo, shorty turbo. i am confused? which is the most preferred one? and how does each one work?

PVHES key:
HES - high efficiency stem - has notches cut into the lip of the bowl on the stem, and channels cut along the outside of te stem. Both of these improve airflow.
Turbo - the "glass screen" (the bit with the 4 holes) is removed, and one large hole is left. There is a rim to hold a screen so your bid doesn't fall through the hole.
Shorty - the bowl capacity is reduced by approx 30%
Carbed - a small hole in the side of the stem, so you can clear your water piece without removing the solo from it.

ok now it makes sense, thanks man! ain't having a carb a good thing? i used bongs before & preferred the carb hole. but when it comes to vapor bubblers with a vaporizer, i am clueless.

Yes to both of your questions. But PV might be out of stock of the none carb hole one since most people prefer it.

I have a 18mm gong fitting for my SOLO Bubbler.
If your female is 19mm a 18mm gong will work.
I medicated with mine today.
Ran the PERSEI 2.4 carts through water as well.
I bought more glass fittings today as you never have enough for all the devices acquired.

damn that looks like a sweet setup i bet u had fun. how much did you pay for your gong all together & how long was the transaction time from canada?

with the vape bubbler would i need the little plastic clip to hold the mouth piece in place? i don't know why the mouth piece comes out to start with

I almost bought the same one as you did.
They both work fine.
I use PAYPAL and pipdaddy does not use PAYPAL so I use planetvapes.
Their service has been real good so far.
The adapter is about $24.95

My bubbler was this one:

I was surprised on how fast I receive the items from CANADA?

How do you like that Solo / water connection buddy? and do you have or have you used other vapes to compare it to?

(Sorry ab double posting guys. is that just two in a row i assume? aintnobodygottime4that)
IMO, there is nothing better. Smoother, cooler, I can milk the tube if i want to, or hit it normally. I could compare it to the pax, (only other portable herb vape i've used) but I have only seshed it twice when a friend was over so I feel it wouldn't be fair without getting to know your own vape. who am I kidding, i much prefer my solo... Like all things, you will get better at controlling how much you want when you want it (vape through water) over experience only. There's no reason not to try it... because its great

do you think the 14mm gong will work perfectly with that bubbler? also i was just about to order & wanted to know, do i need to order that little clip to hold the mouth piece together?
damn the gong costs even more than the turbo stem! almost $30 for a little gong what a RIP! does anyone know of any coupon codes? the fclove10 doesn't seem to work now.

there's no performance issues at all using the solo upside down?

So i have been having problems with the draw resistance from the stock stem & was looking for different ways so i could maybe expand the holes a bit in the stock stem.

Can you really tell the difference between sucking on the hacked stem and a stock stem ?

I doubt it because of the physics - the rate of flow of a gas through a tube is given by
Volume flow rate = pi*(pressure difference)*(pipe diameter)4/[128*(pipe length)*viscosity)

So for constant pressure differential and gas viscosity, it's related to the fourth power (http://electron6.phys.utk.edu/101/CH6/flow_rate.htm) of the diameter - those holes you broke were already pretty big, so I'd be very, very surprised if they added any perceptible restriction compared to those 4 tiny holes at the edge of the stainless steel bowl which AFAIK are tiny and so very, very restricting (the 4th power of a small fraction is an extremely small number) - deliberately designed to ensure limited air flow so there is good temperature control - it's a design trade off.

If you really want more airflow for a given suction level, I think you'll either need one of:

1) air channels down the side of the stem where it passes through the grommet like a pvhes stem

2) loose lips around the stem to allow a tiny bit of fresh air to flow from (eg) one corner of your mouth as you draw (I used this before I moved on to method 3)

3) auger or drill those 4 holes at the edge of the SS heater bowl out a little. I can attest to a much easier draw after making them only a very tiny bit bigger than they were!

Downsides for each of these in turn are:
1) lower temperature extraction from fresh cold air mixing with the heated air coming off the stainless steel bowl

2) dilution of vapour with fresh air

3) voided warranty (!) and less precise temperature control (more air flow, so the heater can't keep up leading to a drop in extraction temperature).

As always, YMMV.

For the love of god, they aren't a rip off...

PV are the only place I know of that make aftermarket stems, so technically they could charge whatever they want.

I think their blower creates their stems from scratch now, but they used to have to chop off a stock stem, then weld on a gong joint.
Quality joints can be as much as $10 each... Just for the joint...

So factor in the base cost (either a stock stem, or raw glass) + the joint + the glassblower cost + PV profit margin = a fairly priced product.

Yes, a gong is gonna cost more than a normal stem, there's more work that goes into producing it.

For that black leaf piece linked, it states that the bub has an 18mm gong joint, so you'd need either a 18mm gong stem, or a 14mm gong stem with a low profile 14-18mm adapter
I believe the pipesdaddy infamous bub also has an 18mm inlet joint, so the same stem setup would be required
(I couldn't tell if you're gonna get the infamous or the black leaf)
If you're getting the infamous, a clip isn't technically necessary to hold the mouthpiece in, but I'd say its a very good idea.

It makes the whole piece 1 solid unit, and you don't need to worry about the mouthpiece falling out.

:2c:

Edit:
Double check the case on the PV discount code, I'm pretty sure it's case sensitive.
Otherwise you can email them to work it out.

why should there be any performance issues?

the code works, and the PVHES GoNG is the best thing that happened to the solo, I gladly pay its full price!

Amen.

This is Capitalism in action. Limited production makes a HUGE difference. How much do you suppose a custom made TV would cost? Or just one Omicron cart threaded with the same 3/8-24 thread Cera uses? Or a Metric size MFLB? Corvettes would cost half as much if 10 times more people bought them I bet. There's actually a classic graph of such things.

And the other side of Capitalism says that anyone who thinks they can do it cheaper or better is free to try, and will reap the benefit of that risk if they are right (unless you're Solindra, or Fiskar or something....). Those who think it's a rip off should prove it by making them cheaper and stealing all the customers? And making a little of that lovely filthy lucre in the process......
