Anvil vs Vapcap Discussion

Hm, I dunno. It's an interesting piece for sure and I'd love to test the Anvil, but I think it would have a hard time replacing my Dynavap setup. I'm using a temp controlled IH, if I want to kill a bowl in one hit, I set it to 220°C and let it hover around the set temp for a few seconds longer – it's very precise, so I don't have to fear combustion and it's *much* quicker too. [It's so weird by the way: I'm waiting for you guys to finally get your hands on a temperature controlled IH because it seriously lifts the whole DV thing on a new level. I don't even like to partake in the DV thread that often anymore because it feels like a weird time travel.] And then again: if I want to do something of that nature, I'd rather take my Tinymight. I want to be able to vape and do stuff at the same time, the long heat up times and the slow cooldowns of the Anvil make it less ideal for my use.

But I do hope to be able to give it a test one day.

I hope you get to try it soon. Think of it more as your heavy hitting desktop DV that delivers huge blasts of convection for when you want that sort of thing. The question is less, 'will this replace my DVs' than 'will this replace my SSV,' or something like that. The convection makes it an altogether different--and complimentary--addition to your DV lineup, if it helps to conceptualize it that way.

Yeah, I get that and that's what makes me want to try it too – but again: when I need a punchy convection session, I'd rather grab my TM (which seems less cumbersome in usage than the Anvil). What I want to say is: I don't need to conceptualize anything, the Dynavaps + IH and my TM give me everything I need and they do so for quite a while now. There's no VAS left in me.

I basically see it just like you: it's a very interesting vape, but rather by itself and not in comparison to the DVs.

I believe you may have transcended!

Sorry. Yeah, I think we're pretty much in agreement and having only heard great things about the TM, I'm sure you're correct there. And I try not to encourage behavior that people are trying to avoid (except masks, dammit!), but for the benefit of people who are misunderstanding the differences and similarities, I'm glad we've talked about it some. For those who are disinclined, keep an open mind and try it when you can. For those who are in a place of satisfaction, the angels have blessed you!

And even if you think you may have transcended: always keep your mind open for new vapes! :-)

I surely do.

What temp-controlled IH are you using?

I wasn't aware that any were out (Wand certainly doesn't control temp, just a best guess based on dabbing bowl, so not gonna be close to accurate for anything but that BTW).

I'm certainly looking forward to a high powered IH option that will work optimally for the Anvil. (Wand and Portside Mini caaaan work with user edition, but you aren't getting ideal performance since they are a bit underpowered)

Don't say "I'd rather" about something you haven't tried. I love the TM; I'm my saying

I'm using the Mag Heater Tornado (more on that →here), and while it is technically available, it is very hard to obtain. I recommend a zen kind of mindset when ordering (but it's totally worth it in my opinion). The only other temp controlled IH I know of is the „Sense“ by Mad Heaters (see →here) which seems very promising, but has been delayed for quite a while now (scheduled for end of this year as of now).

Much appreciated. Yeah, forgot that one had temp control. But will prob wait until an IH that works for Anvil comes out. Pipes' devices really have a great heating profile dialed in for my preferences, luckily for me.

I hadn't hit the VonG since the Anvil arrived. Today I dusted it off and gave it the ol single flame.
It does the job, but it made me cough quite a bit. I feel that the Anvil is much smoother

I haven't tried it native yet but I'm surprised how smooth it is even through water. I was sitting there bangin' back half-bowls like my lungs aren't made of damp tissue paper!

I didnt love dry herbs until I got a Runt. The Dyna, Mighty, Fierce all made me cough.
Anvil wins the reach test anymore. The other herb devices are now 2nd string. Its just so repeatable and yum yum.

Any comments on how they compare health wise? I'm really charmed by the anvil I just have this soft spot for these buy it for life type of products. If they get EU distribution I'll probably pick it up. Will be my first butane vape (vapcap ive only used with IH). Was some comments on Reddit regarding its use of copper. I also read that the copper is actually just a coating, making it perhaps more prone to flaking? But it's not on the vapor path afaik?

It's not in the vapor path, it's sandwiched between layers of stainless steel or outside the device. We should be good.

It's tough to learn about it on reddit because for some reason, people are taking the perceived competition personally and throwing up all kinds of FUD. It's a vaporizer, people, not a football team!

Yeah I took that fear mongering with a grain of salt, the tribalism gets kind of ugly over there.

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
don't have a anvil to compare but I can do this with my DynaVap and I don't think the anvil can hit any harder?????

Somehow it's different. Part of it is that it's convection so the high is different, and I think the other part is that the steady pull of uniformly at-temp air through the load does more or less what John claims: strips everything off/out super efficiently without loss. All I can say is, as a man who loves a bong full of vapor you owe it to yourself to test the hype!

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
I admit I haven't been keeping up with the anvil thread since right at launch. I didn't like how John treated @PlanetHaze when he cut them out of the launch but I saw recently that planet haze is carrying the anvil now so it seems like the patched up their relationship at least business wise. I did like the idea of a Canadian vape company made in Canada vape but was turned off by what happened in the thread. maybe I'll pick one up but first I need to catch up on the thread, which is now a big read since I last checked in

Hear all that, can't blame ya. I think also the hype's clearing a little on it as people use it more. I think this sums it up pretty well:
I kinda understand the comments about this thing shelving desktop setups. Not because it hits as hard or harder than those setups, but because it comes close to that in a small footprint that can be pulled out and put away super easily. It’s also perfect if you have a lower tolerance since it uses much smaller amounts than something like a B1. Just my two cents. I’ve never used the big ball vapes, closest comparison points I have are VapBong and CouchLog. This thing gives me hits in that realm, which is quite nice.
It won't ruin your love for DV bong hits, it's different enough to compliment rather than replace.

Bad Dog

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
nothing could replace the feeling I have for my DynaVap it was the first vape I used that gave me the results I wanted out of my high. even if my DynaVap is not my most used vape now it will always hold a very special place in my heart. that said my heat is big enough to love more vapes:dog:

I'd like to see the ABV. I'm going to bet that load was toasted near black. Getting the ABV to full char requires heat levels that produce compounds and flavors I'm usually trying to avoid. The only things preventing combustion at that point are the limited oxygen and lower pressure in that restricted space.

An Anvil can produce vapor like that, maybe even denser, but with light ABV without a hint of scorch. It's really pretty amazing.

That said, I'm not in the "Dynavap killer" camp. My DVs are still daily drivers, while the Anvil is a novelty, an occasional special treat.

if you follow the link the abv is below the video but I won't lie it was dark chocolate brown but not black. but if you read the post you see I said I torched low on the cap to start with and that is what I maintained but you don't have to go as aggressive as I did for that total one hitter, you could heat high on the cap and maintain that
