I've watched this video, reflecting on my usage, and trying a few heatups mindful of the video's suggestions about flames. My goldilocks feelings are intensified.
My SK79 single flame simply does not have the power to deliver a dark roast when aimed directly at the battery. It takes too long, the heat escapes to the bowl, and it's a very nice hit, but a medium-light roast.
My triple flame honest, with the triangle nozzles in parallel, not converging alignment, is too imprecise. The heat cannot be aimed directly into only the battery, there's always overflow somewhere, and I end up again with what's usually a nice hit, but only medium-dark, but sometimes pushed too far and edging past dark into combustion that I've cut off early.
I'll continue to keep working these two, but my quest for an ideal one that makes it easy to achieve all roast levels with a single torch continues. I've found a couple torches available on amazon that isn't my first pick for manufacturer or ergonomics, but at least are available for prime speed delivery, and are dual nozzle.
