Savage. Yes, take it out. But not permanently like some nug consumers choose to. Take it out and clean in behind the screen. I use a toothpick or bamboo skewer. It’s easier to clean the screen when it’s out. Then put it back. I use the threaded bottom end of the stem to seat the screen.

It’s been two years with my Anvil. Roughly 12-16 uses per day. Two heat cycles per use. Less than 1g per day. Medical user. My only consumption device. Here are some long term usage notes. I’ve upgraded to the thermocore oven. Still using a half bowl and the XL mouthpiece. I really like the...

Have you tried it with a torch? It takes a lot of energy to load the lower copper band which is the key to the one hit extraction/ride the line experience. I don’t recall anyone claiming to RTL with a Wand.

I have a simple cleaning system that allows me to collect reclaim. I have a small plastic bottle that will fit all my condenser, stem, XL mouthpiece and two spirals. I keep food grade ethanol in there at approximately one eighth of the volume. Enough liquid that it will slosh around if I shake...

What do you flip? Like put it in upside down, mouthpiece into the cap? My cap is snug pulling out but easy going in. I usually put the cap onto the oven and then drop it into the tube.

What’s this all about the new oven not fitting in the storage case? My anvil with new thermocore oven and old XL mouthpiece fit inside the utility case with the XL cap just fine. It’s an almost snug fit into the XL cap. I have an old storage tube cap but it never fit with the XL mouthpiece. Do...

When it’s clean or when it’s dirty? It’s capable of a low temperature extraction for flavour and a second extraction of the same material at a higher temperature and for longer (especially with the new oven.) That’s actually how I use mine every time I use it and I use it several times per...

I got the new oven the other day. I’m enjoying the longer time that it stays at temperature. The balance with the XL mouthpiece is off from what I’m used to, but still good.

What I like to do lately is take a nug, crush a bit, little bit, roll it up, take a hit. I’ll do this with the half chamber using a light roast. I’ll take it out and place it in an XL chamber for later. I’ll repeat this process one more time. I’ll take a nug. Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up...

I just tried the quick heat technique with my torch at full blast flamethrower setting. Maybe I should have cleaned my unit first. Definitely way roastier than my usual torchings. I completely forgot the Anvil has other gears. I feel like I got tapped on the side of the head.

I was really impressed by the discussion of more convection leaning performance with induction heating. Do you have more thoughts of your experience?

Festool checking in. As long as we can hotwire the battery compartment, I should be okay with my collection of box type lithium ion batteries and SLA’s.

No. But did you see the 10 sec heat up video?

I do not clean the bowl. It’s seasoned like cast iron at this point. Now I’m starting to think that I might be missing out on pristine flavours too.

I ran the numbers the other day. I’m conservatively over 10k clicks on my half bowl.

The XL mouthpiece provides a better mouthfeel and hand balance and cooling mass. Not necessarily in that order but simultaneously. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

It takes a lot of heat energy to melt copper. I speak from experience. A reckless anvil user will burn something else before getting the copper on the “outside” of the oven to show any sign of heat damage. If one is paranoid worried about inhaling copper oxides or burnt copper or copper...

That sucks. I have two. One has a looser flame adjustment than the other. I carry the loose one. The other is my backup. I have a third spare NIB. I’ve been filling it with garbage fuel and it just eats it. Maybe the igniter can be replaced?

This is the lighter that I use. I purchased mine retail from Princess Auto in Canada. It doesn’t care that I don’t use premium butane. There’s a sale on the 330g big can of 7x for $6.99 at Princess Auto. I’ve been using this torch for about a year. Easy to adjust flame size while lit. Works...
