I’m confused by this mild affront. A copper sleeve that is slipped on by a user. It’s not a factory compression fit? Copper is ductile enough that if a steel cap is mounted on a dowel, it could be squeezed. A proper competitive cap should at least start there.

I started using a small plastic bottle filled with 190 proof to soak my mouthpiece, stems and spirals. It used to be a pocket sized hand sanitizer bottle. I give the oven a wipe. I’ve never cleaned a chamber.

I raise you work pants and reference what I did afterward. Cordura sticks like melted plastic. What works is oven cleaner. Easy Off in the yellow Heavy Duty bottle. Leave it to soak for a while. Wipe off. Swear, repeat.

Getting it over with quick is handy. The XL mouthpiece is a real hummer. Now to figure out a proper stash for it.

I got a notification that my package received a tracking number and a delivery notification today. Both emails one minute apart. Now I have to agonize the rest of my day until I can get home and shove that new XL stem into my mouth.

I can’t even do a darkish roast. Someone described RTL as a roasted peanut taste. Just yuck.

1st time I tried it, I thought it was fun. Momentary panic when the chamber needed a bit to get loose. 2nd time I tried it, I was more aggressive with the preheat. I got RTL taste. And now the chamber is stuck in the oven. There will not be a 3rd time…probably.

That sounds more like a kick start. Cold start-I start inhaling as I heat. It delays the click as I’m drawing cooling air through. When I give it a break to inhale, the click kicks in and I get RTL volume but at a light medium roast.

I just cold started. If you have the means, I highly recommend.

I’m hauling from sometime between first & second heat up click until the first cool down click. For these time trials.

I’m finding that spinning is not making any appreciable difference in time to heat. Same flame to same aim point on the oven at all times. Times are +/- 3 seconds. 33 second heat up 1:10 time between first heat up click to first cool down click. 2nd cycle follow up promptly after first cycle...

I can’t help myself. I have to give it some rotation. Heat does spread throughout the device quite well without rotation. I feel that I make a more even heating profile from aiming heat all around. I always stop heat at first click. When I rotate, I get a lag time until the second heat up...

Question about lag time between heat up clicks. I’m aiming for an Uncle Buck. What are others getting or aiming for?

About the spiral. I’ve run with and without it. I haven’t noticed a decrease in performance with it in. It does collect debris and reclaim. One could scrape it clean and salvage.
