Yeah, no George. Spiral angle and groove size are both completely different. Perhaps one is counterfeit?

Random question.......I ordered a couple of Ti tips and they shipped loose in a box without its own packaging. Like they were just tossed in there! Every other item in my box came with its own packaging.

Is this normal? It got my OCD to flare up haha. I figured for a $50CDN tip, dynavap would have some sort of packaging! Is this normal? I’m worried they could be used/RMA’d tips.

It's not the first time I got a defective product from Dynavap, If you guys remember they had problems before with SS 2019 tips resulting in shallow grooves and very very restricted airflow (was almost impossible to draw)

2 out of a total of 3 orders came with a defect (they did sent a new 2019 SS tip with deep grooves and it works perfectly).

I honestly don't care if they don't consider this as a defect. it is a flawed product in my eyes.

That being said, I'm done with Dynavap, at least with their online store, I will probably buy their products if needed from a reseller where I can physically check the product myself because they have such a poor quality control

Honestly sad to hear. I wonder how they have these flaws when everything is automated and should basically all be the same

I've been surprised to read lately how many people prefer previous iterations of the Dynavap. When I got a 2018 M, I thought it was pretty cool, and I took to carrying it as a backup for my Mighty or Argo, but it didn't excite me enough to get heavily into the rotation. The 2019 M was only slightly better, despite claims of much better draw (I sometimes wonder if mine is one of the ones that's not cut very deeply). Still, I like it enough that I got a 2020 M.

The 2020 impressed me enough (I'm agnostic on the captive cap) that I decided to get an IH to improve the experience. That decision fired my VAS, and I picked up a ti-tipped Simrell. The moment I tried that, I knew it would become my daily driver for the foreseeable future. The transition from the 2018 to the Simrell has been gradual, but the difference between them is huge. I always avoided the ti tips because I assumed that quicker heating/cooling meant a less effective oven. I was wrong. It just happens faster. That's meant fewer combustion incidents, as I don't lose track of where I'm at in the cycle. With steel tips I'd sometimes start heating again before the cool-down click because it took so long I figured I must have missed it.

As for the IH, I got tired of waiting on Dynavap to sort out the issues with the Orion, and I ordered a Fluxer Flite, which arrived yesterday. It absolutely rips. Every click is hitting max potential, and it can darken a bowl in three clicks (five if you're greedy and don't mind burnt popcorn). With that, the Dynavap is the number one vape in my portable lineup. Instead of carrying a Dynavap as a backup, I'll carry a torch as a backup to the Flite.

At least I can say, any time I have spoken to someone at Dynavap, they have been extremely helpful in resolving any issues I had. I just bought a titanium stem with machining marks on it, so I messaged their support, and they said they would replace it if I just send it in. I felt that was pretty fair, still have to pay shipping which is a bit annoying but I get it.

I always take the o rings off of my dynavaps before soakin in iso. For the first time i picked up some of the dark crystal glass cleaner stuff to try, man does that stuff work well at getting that charred stuff off the outside of the bowl. Literally just soaked it and started flaking off by itself over night. Anyone think it is a bad idea to leave the o rings on and soak in dark crystal?

if the o-ring is an organic material, which i'm not sure, alcohol/iso is a bad idea. if it's an inorganic material(like silicone) , it won't dissolve in alcohol. need another opinions from which material it is made of

I soak my Tinymight CU with orings in Dark Crystal, in a small glass container with sealable top so I can reuse it. Dark Crystal works best when heated, so I place the container on a coffee mug heater.

Silicone orings, which are usually what we encounter on vape devices and accessories, can take an ISO wipe down, then a water rinse. But it’s advised NOT to let silicone SOAK in ISO, as it can soften and break down the silicone. They may start to stretch or deform over time. Dark Crystal is NOT ISO, and should be much safer to use in this situation. I use various products for my various devices, as some are better then others depending on the task.

I've got an omni with machining marks just like the one in your picture -- I actually prefer to use it because the marks make it textured and grippy. :)

Actually, silicone is perfectly fine to soak in Isopropyl alcohol. I learned this myself when @pakalolo told me that once and I didn't believe him. So to prove him wrong I soaked an inch of silicone tubing in 99% iso for a week. It came out perfectly good as new.

Moral of the story: Pak is always right and he'll remind you of that given the opportunity. :disgust:

Ahhh, but you tested with “tubing”. Most of the tubing I have is much thicker then most orings, so that’s one potential difference.

So the oring-iso challenge is on.....

I have a gallon of 99% ISO, I’ll take various orings from different devices, as perhaps not all “silicone” is the same composition. I’ll soak them in a sealed airtight container for a week. Then assuming they don’t dissolve, the real test is to see if the silicone has softened or deformed in any way. If the elasticity is altered at all, then the myth is true, and warnings should be heeded.

Before I take time and materials, I’ll test my online google-foo first. The “MYTH” of not soaking silicone orings in ISO is so prevalent, I certainly believed it, as I’ve read countless reports of bad outcomes, but perhaps it’s just a myth. I’m glad Pak is always right, I’m certainly not, but I have a decent percentage..... :)

Yeah, I was able to find similar charts.

1 Excellent (<10% Swell) 2 Good (static usually OK) 3 Poor (20-40% Swell) 4 Not Recommended X Insufficient Data.

Silicone rated a #1, but as the note says “10% SWELLING”.

Viton gets a #1
Buna-N gets a #2, I don’t understand the “static” note.

Seems it might be difficult to be 100% sure what actual composition any particular oring may be made of, and I certainly don’t trust most manufacturers.

Another chart site:

Here is a thread where some experiments were done:

I’ve read enough to convince me, to stick with my original opinion. I would not soak my orings or silicone products in ISO for more then 5 minutes if I had to, though I’m not afraid to use my 99% ISO for quick cleaning and wiping. With products like Simple Green Crystal, PBW, Dark Crystal Clear, vinegar, kosher salt, etc., as well as an ultrasonic tank, I don’t really have the need to long soak in ISO anyway.

So just be careful, know your materials, and check for any oring swelling, if you do long ISO soaks.

@RustyOldNail the first Vapcaps had Buna N o rings, they were not good with alcohols, Dynavap has used Viton ever since. I don't remove o rings to clean but as you I have no need to soak for more than 10 minutes at the worst. Never had a problem.

Cheers.
eta: I would not assume that because a material is suitable with ISO it is also suitable with ethyl or methyl and vice versa. I know some metals react differently.

Hello, I am new here but not in vaping. After Volcano digit I got the Pinnacle pro, then Mighty, firefly 2+, crafty+
10 days now I received the Dynavap starter kit omni titanium together with the Apollo 2 Rover. I have to say that I have been more impressed than any other vaping machine with the Dynavap. However I dont like that I have to keep pressed the the DV to the induction heater and that I have to heat it twice before vape. These are heater's problem however and not Dynavap iteself which I find excellent however I would like to upgrade with something like simrell that I read above.

And now I am on the market for cooler vapor and better airflow (and a better induction heater if found). Is it true that simrell standard vortex XL offers cooler vapor and better airflow than my omni titanium XL? Do you have something similar to suggest for my consideration helping me decide, thanks

people usually refer the simrell stem as a "dry bong" experience. if you can afford it, get it. usually all reviews I read, people say Simrell>Omni. but you got another option for cooling your vapor, just get a JHook vape through it, it'll cool the vapor as well, or some bubbler....

I got rid of my Omni after I got my first Simrell vortex. It’s the bomb both natively and through a water piece. I now have three.

But I’ll offer another alternative; a Phat Piggie stem. The only stem that is better than my Vortex natively is my 120mm Phat Piggie Blackwood stem with aluminum mouthpiece. It’s amazing.

Both will get you what you want. Oh and the Phat Piggie is lovely through water as well.

how is it fair for you to pay extra and wait more because of their QC fail?

if this return policy holds i'm probably not going to buy dynavap again ... this is unacceptable to me.
that's 5$ worth of tubing sold for 200$ ... it should be flawless at this price.
they used to make up for QC issues with great customer support, if there was a clear defect they would send a replacement without wasting more time and requiring a return.
