Thanks for replying, I just might be sold on the SS since it extracts more  BTW has anyone use this native most of the time? Is the vapor tolerably warm?

with pleasure. But don't forget, we don't know if it was a coincidence or if it is the case with all units. HL says there is minimal fluctuation from device to device generelly. I really don't know to what extent what has to do with the material

Edit: and they told me if I will best Extraktion at the LIMIT then i will choose Titanium

Many folks are ok with the heat of the actual vapor, while a good percentage also choose even some minimal cooling like a drip tip-on-pfe or a j-hook -- or on up to water pieces, etc.
You can have a tasty, sipping chamber on the cooler side, or crank it up and hook to your bong.
Between the electronics an a little self-regulation, this convection vape can be fitted to your preference.

Heat at points of contact with your body is another matter. With multiple hard hits in succession, most of the entire device can get hot, not just to mouthpiece!
Or, if you take one or two hits and chill a bit, you can probably go native for a lovely ride. Very much a personal heat-tolerance issue -- some folks okay with it, some not...
(my use pretty much never calls for the standard front end. I like small ss drip tip in pfe for my 'native experience' -- cooler on lips and a little vapor cooling, too -- but will also go to a bubbler or such at times.)

Fwiw, my io is ss, and for no use do I need a setting past 3.5. A ti choice for me would be simply on aesthetic, and there are things I like about how the ss hoppers age.

I recently received a new SS IO and I am heading towards an RMA before ever even using it. It will not power on unless the body is screwed into the back end partially. Tightening it all of the way will prevent it from powering on. I have to screw it on just right or it won't power on at all. Not tight enough and it won't power on. Too tight and it won't power on.

When I first got it it would make a "clicking" noise when I screwed the body into the back end. It doesn't seem to be making that sound anymore, but it is still very sensitive to the position of the body on the back end.

I've tried other batteries, etc... No difference.

I remember reading about similar issues in the OG Hopper thread, but I've never experienced anything like this on any of my OG Hoppers or my Ti IO Hopper.

This will probably be the first RMA that I've actually sent back to Hopper Labs. I'm still waiting for them to register my SS IO so I can start the RMA process. We'll see how it all goes...
That's annoying.

How does it interface with the power adapter assembly? Since using that my io back end has become much smoother to use and hasn't had an issue, where as before I got the occasional issue requiring multiple clicks which I can replicate by partially removing the DC jack from the power adapter indicating it's potentially a power throughput cut out.
I also had the dial get stuck and had the back-end spring apart twice when trying to get it moving again. It clicks back together, the retention and overall mechanics are over engineered (the whole device from a design perspective is overly ambitious)

The device is probably relying on tight tolerances for the whole package to come together. I have noticed that the softer solder positive pole on the power adapter PCB has been flattened over time and the assembly is now adjusted to exactly fit the span with decent surface area contacts. This would relieve the compression occurring in the back end once assembled.
The harder metal positive pole on the battery won't be squashed and could pose an issue for the assembly, though it is pretty odd that over-tightening doesn't 'bottom out' but prevents function..

It could be that the body is 'too short' or perhaps the back end is just faulty. Do you have any other back ends to try? Legacy ones will work, but can get warm with prolonged usage.
Also worth checking all the contacts for conductivity issues.

Hopefully the RMA experience is much better with the io!

Define tolerably. It's hot and harsh and that can be appreciated, an acquired taste or painful. I fall somewhere in the middle, it works well direct, it works best with a lower tolerance. Big hits are much better and/or possible with some kind of inline cooling.

You won't need to register this one; write to support@thehopper.io and explain briefly your problem.
Mine was resolved in a day or two a new one was sent out, no hassle. (I hope you have no distance or international issues...)

Has anyone ordered GHB3 batteries? If so, how long did it take for you to receive them?
Got one “GHB3” last week with my new io. And I also got a GHB2 supposedly mislabeled and allegedly a GHB3 (I ordered one extra batt with my io order). Initial performance of both appear to be similar and very good.

If you’re still waiting on batts for any reason, email and nag HL (firmly and with an irritable tone). Hopefully that will rattle their cage.

Been using my PFE a lot more recently with my OG Ti before I ordered the io and after receiving it. I like it more than I thought I would. “Testing” on that front as well as the io honeymoon continues...

I have not had good luck with either of my IO units and the AC adapter. The body of my Ti IO will not screw all of the way on to the slotted adapter. It develops significant resistance about 80% of the way on, and I don't want to push it any further.

The body of my SS IO fares better when screwing it into the threaded adapter, but it still gets a little rough towards the end. It doesn't seem to screw in completely (there is a very small gap), but I attribute that to the three "prongs" on the negative contact of the back end.

I did test the SS IO with the power adapter but it did not work with either the AC power supply or the 18650 battery sled (lights come on but turn off after a few seconds). This is to be expected with the stock power supply. I believe that you found a PS that will power the IO, but it required some modification(?).

I have several OG back ends and one IO back end, but I am not going to try them on this faulty IO. It might help me isolate the issue, but I don't think it will expedite my RMA process with HL. Plus I don't want to take any chances with my working Hoppers.

when it has been working, I generally use my hopper at temp 4 +/- and use the PFE. I have spent years using a one hitter, so I appreciate the big, cloudy hits from the grasshopper (when there are some). To me, the hits are warm, but no worse than what I am used to with a one hitter, And if you end up with an herb that has different vaping characteristics, you can always adjust up or down.

I actually plan to hit this more native since the form factor is very stealthy. I"m probably one of the few who likes hitting my vapes native, no bong or bubbler. Like you I find the steel will aged better.

I like the idea I can pull this out, then take one hit then hit it again later. I read somewhere this hits like a train or truck... I feel this could be the on-demand vape I'm looking for.

Fair enough. Good luck with the RMA, hope it's a fast turn around.

Pity about the slotted adapter too, mine goes on the io better than my other hoppers, just lucky I guess. I'm sure whenever MaxVapor reappears he can help you out there, but the io also requires another power supply. The one I'm using has screw terminals so I had to make some cables for it. However the io should work with the 18650 sled.

The lip of the threaded adapter where it meets the hopper body is chamfered, so it screws down flush but it looks like there is a small gap compared with the default parts. What kind of battery were you using with the sled? Did you have lights on the sled?

I still prefer to use some dry, small cooling option. A 14mm female to male glass adapter is enough to make huge hits much smoother, but it really depends on the person. Anyone with experience smoking will find it pretty easy going.

And it is the ideal pocketable quick hitter, an amazing driving companion, and I can now confirm with a tiny bit of DMT in it, it hits way harder than a freight train! Best way I've tried that, first time in about 6 years, and it was absolutely incredible.
It's definitely a happy high-medium potency canna-pen though. It's as snazzy as the Pax but runs circles around it. I've nearly had the io 3 months and I'm very happy with it, pretty awesomely convenient pumping entheogens when necessary or desired. No better way to do it IMO, unless it's a sublimator, but you'll never get one of those in a pocket.

What kind of battery were you using with the sled? Did you have lights on the sled?

Well HL asked me to try my Ti IO back end on the SS IO body, which was suggested here on the forum but was not something that I wanted to do (I don't like to mess with Hoppers that are working). The Ti back end produced the same results when I used it on the SS body, and the SS back end worked fine on the Ti body, meaning that it is the SS body that is at fault. I do appreciate the quick response that I got from HL. I responded to their request to try the Ti back end on the SS body. Hopefully they'll continue to be responsive.

I use a Samsung INR18650-32E battery. It seems to work OK with my OG Hoppers (they power up and turn blue as expected) however I've never actually used one in an actual session.

I'm glad that you asked, however, as it prompted me to re-test my SS IO unit with the battery sled. It does in fact work, but it suffers from the same symptoms as it does with a GH battery. If I screw it on just right it appears that it will work with the 18650 battery. The GH lights come on and stay on, however I have not tested it during an actual session. This is still good news, as it means that I should be able to power my SS IO Hopper with an 18650 battery.

Ordered a Blue Ti IO in Feb and waited as long as I could, but with no end in sight and the good reviews pouring in, I caved.

I changed the order to a plain Ti, and here it is!

SB3buvg.jpg

Definitely looks a bit more restrained than my psychedelic old Ti Grasshopper, but the performance is noticeably a step up!

Unfortunately since the body is basically the same, the bump in power does mean everything gets that much hotter, that much quicker...
I love my Plenty Cooling Coil mod even more with the IO, and it seals so well on the PFE you don't even have to hold it!

BijulAp.jpg

The flavor is much better with dry cooling, that's one of the things the Tinymight gets right, water pieces just take away too much.
I was never able to use the grasshopper native so I probably won't be trying that with the IO.

It's a solid step up all-around: the clicker is more solid, the battery threads feel much tighter, and I love the tint of the LED, much warmer than the pictures. I just wish they would take this heater technology and put it in a more practical vape with a 18650 battery and built-in cooling unit!

So...I’ll share my recent batteries experience.

On September 9th I ordered and paid for 2 new batteries. That day, I also emailed ghl and asked that they include 3 replacement batteries I bought shortly before the fire. They replied to my email and said they would.

Today the package arrived! Not bad turnaround time, huh? And it included 5 batteries! I was happily surprised.

The batteries were packaged in a 2 pack and separate 3 pack. As I was unpacking, I inspected each battery to see if was a GHB3 battery. To my surprise, 2 batteries are GHB2 and 3 batteries are GHB3.

What was more surprising was that the batteries were mixed so the 2 pack had one of each and the 3 pack had 2 GHB3 and 1 GHB2.

Time will tell if there’s a difference in performance. I’m charging them now and looking forward to a test drive. Today will be my first use of my hopper with (hopefully) a strong battery since November.

I also want to give a shoutout and thank you to @VGOODIEZ . I tried tracking the status of this order on the ghl website. My recent order was listed and said “in progress”. When it didn’t change, I reached out to @VGOODIEZ for help and to check the status. After I bugged him, I clicked on the link to my order and saw a link for tracking. The tracking link worked and gave me an accurate status of my shipping. So to all, take that extra step to track your package.

The really good news is that ghl honored their promise to replace at risk batteries. So props to them too!

I got the same mix of GHB3 and GHB2 batteries, I assume the GHB2's are just the mislabeled GHB3's they told us about, I didn't notice a performance difference. I would be very surprised if they shipped out old and new batteries, so I think I will give them the benefit of the doubt until someone proves otherwise.

Glad they finally got their battery situation under control, hope they can keep a good inventory in stock!
The IO is still impressing me with it's power, the airflow seems improved too, this is the vaporizer we all wanted the Grasshopper to be!

Ditto & ditto: received one of each with my new IO last week (ordered 1 extra batt with the IO). I nagged HL weeks ago about the fire replacement batts they owed me when word got out that they received a large shipment of them over the summer. Performance with both, “GHB2” as 3 and “GHB3” appear the same so far early on. I hope everyone gets replacement and new batts soon. I like the fact the IO is allegedly improved with battery management - a welcomed feature. My HL battery experience has been less than stellar over the years with my OG unit.

The IO is indeed powerful. Perhaps a bit too much if used natively without any extra cooling or filtration (for me anyway, and I’m a portable purist and minimalist). That said I’m looking into a few cooling options and will try my IO through water/glass tomorrow for the first time (can’t today due to a very long work day).

with a glass stem from the Tinymight you can cool down the steam.
brings a lot:sherlock:

EDIT: sorry Vaporific, I just only wanted to help, but you are on old Grasshopper user and will be knowing that ;)

Does anyone have enough experience with USPS to confirm if they have ever seen/heard of the USPS’ tracking site indicating that the shipping label is created but they have not received the package yet when the shipper says they have given them the package?

That is my current orders status....

Shipping label was created on Friday. Funny enough, status on USPS is now updated to accepted and says that happened this afternoon.

So giant coincidence or my email to them did something. Anyways, I have a page to refresh daily now ;)

Would a 14mm female to 10mm male adaptor work?

Honestly, I think it depends on what you have. I have one glass rig and I I know my PFE fits in it without anything else (metal on glass - not optimal I know but it works; it could be sealed a bit better but it works. It has a small
glass adapter thingy on it too. Sorry but this is not my usual cup of tea so to speak). I also recently purchased a universal WPA which should help connectivity with several vapes, including the IO. I’m not the best person to ask about this stuff and have just one rig (and I’ve been working for for almost 16 hours today and still going - I’m exhausted). I am looking forward to using my glass rig tomorrow with my new IO for the first time nevertheless... :peace:

As a simple cooling option (put onto pfe, which is 14mm male), yes.
As an adapter (put onto pfe) for a 10mm female water piece, yes.
To maybe clarify, the pfe is made to fit directly into 14mm female ground-glass joint, and works very well for that. Variation in glass joints (quality of build) can be a factor, but even my 'imported' inexpensive 14mm bubbler works pretty well with pfe directly into it.

I also like pfe for its' more open air flow and ease of cleaning. I just run it under hot tap water (holding w/tongs) for a minute, then wipe inside* with a paper towel to get the last of grit from the threads.
*counter-clockwise, to clear threads.

Thanks. Well, as much as I love my cat to death he knocked over my only rig (also imported) this morning and broke it. I took it out for tonight’s festivities and it fell 3 feet onto carpeting and it still broke. The IO mating to glass will now wait for a while unless I can buy something locally this weekend. Sigh. TGIF!!
