Discontinued The Grasshopper

Nice.
I'll pass on that my cleaning method for the pfe is very hot tap water, holding the pfe with some small tongs that grip it well.
After a minute or less running water thru I shove some paper towel in and wipe the threads, and if there are some particles on the towel I'll give another quick rinse. Screen always cleans up nice.

(I also had a new vape arrive yesterday just in time to help ride out covid-19, a Milaana 3. I think it may be similar experience to the TMight...takes some dialing-in...)
My plan for protecting against the virus is to keep coating all my soft tissue with vapor. I'm hoarding bud! (don't put this tip on FB or the panic buying might affect the canna markets!)
I am spoiled. I have two PFE’s. One is in use and the other is in a jar of ISO. When one gets a bit clogged I rinse the new one, dry it off and toss the dirty one in to soak.

So i gotta say somethin how i get treaded by Grasshopper.

28th of March in 2018 i sent my Hopper in via Vaposhop (i bought it there)

I never heard anythinh from Grasshopper or Vaposhop about the Warranty Status.

Weeks ago i got an email from Vaposhop that i could get the Price of my Hopper back because Grasshopper is hard to deal with and never giving any respond to that. Thats what Vaposhop said.

Yesterday i communicated with Grasshopper over Email to sort this things out.

Only thing they would give me is 80$ off of the Actual price of the Hopper IO.

80$ for an Vape that is worth near the 300$(i got the Titanium one)

thats fucking ridiculous!!

that should be a Lifetime Warranty?

Shame on you guys!

428 days later, still hoppin with these RMA units

Still waiting on tracking for my mains adapter, once it's finally here I'll be stoked and using it over these old batteries on the legacy Ti circa GT1159, my just before noon unit, I was sad to lose that serial haha.
3 of my batts are 428 days from factory too. I'm rocking 6, 3 must be 673 days on since arrival.

So actually that's my best innings, HT GH, 673 days. :borg:

At this point it feels perfectly reliable. I stopped packing 'back-ups' that never got used a long time ago for travelling or on the go.
I do still use the Stempod w/ P80 a bit but it's even more finicky than a hopper. Still a really solid unit. But it's rudimentary and overall a hassle. I still think it's my best alternative portable yet, and there's still only a few options that are worth looking to. I've been saying it for ages that no one will release anything to properly compete, and I reckon the ball is still well in HLs court. Their tech and performance is legendary. No one has brought it to the table in any properly comparative manner, and the io is about to reign down hard.

The HL heaters get my tick of approval. As does Dr. Ganja's CBD Flower

Hope the GHB3s turn up soon.

@Hopper Labs

Just a few quick questions:

Did you ever contact Hopper Labs when you first sent it in for repair?
That should have been done right after you contacted VapeFiend, so that Hopper Labs knows to expect your Hopper. You bought it from VF but the warranty is with HL, so you should only deal with them.
Waiting a year and then complaining seems a bit excessive to me.

What did you receive from Hopper Labs? Do they know anything about your Hopper? Did they actually receive it from Vapefiend for repair? If they did, they would have contacted you a year ago.
This could also be an error on VF's part without all the info.

Any extra info you can give us would be greatly appreciated as it seems a bit one sided for now from my view.

@VapeFiend.com Any input from your UK counterpart on this issue?

This whole exchange should be moved to the Grasshopper thread.

We have had a number of different staff members over the years work with wholesalers in the EU to help customers but it has always been the customer's responsibility to have an open warranty request with us. The store is welcome to help them with this. We have continually communicated this to wholesalers and I think some on FC have used this system. Anything that a store or wholesaler does for the customer beyond this is up to them.

We will service units that are registered to customers and that have a valid warranty request. If they worked with the store to set this up and returned the device to us that is 100% okay. @zeus420 PM me and we can work something out. It sounds like the process was not made clear to you by the shop, who themselves may not have been clear on it. We are not trying to get out of any warranty service and it sounds like you have a valid claim. Let's work it out!

I've had a minor ongoing issue with a ss body warranty. After long stay at the HL resort & spa, hopper came back to me (actually a replacement came to me, that was the deal from way back) but was not a working unit. HL agreed to send another out 'right away'.
After a couple of weeks I nudged the situation, got an apology and another "we'll get it out" from @Hopper Labs , then nothing for a little while, though a note to the same effect showed up in the warranty dialog on Feb. 16. '20.
I've been getting more antsy about this and trying, as always, to be patient.

Yesterday I got an email with shipping/tracking # and checked the detail today. I know that HL doesn't send these shipping confirmations until the goods have left the building.
This may illuminate (though not really explain!) some of the delay;

No worries, it'll be to me on Friday.
Thanks, @Hopper Labs I do appreciate the help. I hope you snuck in some of those fancy io parts!

Sad to report my plain Ti legacy has stopped working, it lasted 449 days, which is quite good for a hopper but a bit rubbish for any ordinary appliance.

It's now just flashing red lights with no heating, or with a different, newer back end it immediately turns off when switched on.

It's been a feeling I haven't had for ages, but a GH becoming a paperweight in your hands is a real blow.
There's not any real way to know what is wrong with it, but it is looking like yet another warranty case...

I've tried a few tricks so far, and no dice, it is persistently dead. It got a good work out at least, but most annoyingly I don't feel nearly as confident with what to expect with my incoming io now. I had just posted how reliable I was finding the legacy unit since RMA, and now not even a couple of weeks after, it bites the dust.
1.23 years has been the best life-span I've gotten from this particular unit, and it's been around and enjoyed for a longer time and to a very great degree, but with the likely lengthy waits for repair, it's frustrating to wind back into ye old purgatory with it.
Luckily I do have another working unit, and although it has been consistent for the longest time span of any hopper I've handled, it runs cold.
It doesn't vapour bong as I... require. It does an okay job, but it's like a lot of models out there which leave something to be desired.

More luckily, I found my old house mates GH which was in storage here, I didn't know about that, but now I have built an ultimate hopper. My engraved back-end, a borrowed body, and I'm getting the insane results which cause me to put up with the hopper ownership realities.
It's insane how good it works, and that makes me super happy, and feeling very lucky. But, I just don't know what to think. The io better perform like this, and I'd ideally like to get a comfortable 2 years out of it. After that amount of time I honestly wouldn't mind sending it away and/or getting new batteries. It isn't self serviceable and wear and tear is a given, possibly if servicing happened in a reasonable turn around and batteries were more available it wouldn't be such an issue...

So, business as usual here. Plenty of problems, but man are the clouds A+

Sorry to hear that, mate. Felt the same about my OG Ti GH that made it 18 months then went totally tits up.
I am pretty glad to have a unit that still delivers the goods, but the variability in performance (which is one reason why there is such a different range of chambers per battery seen) is a real let down. With three units, I am only using one of them, it not only works, it's so much better... this recently found HT unit works even better than my plain Ti before it broke.
I'm hoping the io can knuckle down on this range, and with the higher temps, I hope it actually gives people the proper extraction possible with this design. Because the potential is enormous.

I had to get a vid of some bubble action with the new set up. It's working a real treat. I haven't really mentioned how much I like the Hopper bubbler, though I guess mine's a second quality off dhgate. But it's a really nice piece.

Over 2 mins I killed the bowl, mostly in just one huge hit. So much milk, bong perfection.
I'm definitely getting close to needing the power adapter, and new batteries.

I hope you get your adapter sorted quick smart @Baron23, I'm still waiting to get tracking details.. though I am sick of watching my io in progress, it hasn't moved in over a week.. so can't be expecting anything any time soon.

Anyways, once io production ramps up, and if all goes well, which I still think it will and should, I think it will be the best vapour bong package available. Really looking forward to the instantness and a solid round of stress testing :science:

@MoltenTiger - yep, that's most people's main frustration...well, them breaking quite often but also the variability in performance. I have one Ti that works perfectly after multiple RMAs and I suspect that I finally got a new heater unit in there.

I have another Ti that I won't waste my flower in. It works...just runs way too cool and now is probably not the time to send it in for RMA.

Maybe they will let me trade it in.

Hey, @Hopper Labs - have you guys thought about any sort of trade in of old GH's for IO's?

As far as the power adapter goes....I'm sure that @maxvapor710 will get this sorted to everybody's satisfaction. The male threads on the adapter go onto the body like silk. Perfect. The threads for the back end are not working for me at all.

I did get an email from them acknowledging my issue and asking me to stand by as they work on a resolution and I'm fine with that. We will get it all sorted and in the mean time its not like my GH is not working. I'm using the new GBH2 "made in china" batts and haven't had the slightest issue.

YMMV however so please don't anybody think I'm advocating for them to use these batts.

Cheers

Almost there...
Since receiving my new backend from HL, my Hopper has been working like normal.
Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
Never had any flashing lights or had it RMA'd in the over 3 years of ownership.

I was reading in the io thread about keeping the back threads super clean to allow the power to flow.
Broke out the stik-tac and went to cleaning! Still saw some black spots in the threads...
I found a dental scraper that fit in the t=grooves perfectly! Rotated the hopper and under a magnifier I could see the small chunks of debris being lifted from the threads. It was spotless when I was done.
I repeated the process on the new backend as well. The parts mated smooth like butter for a change!!
Slipped in a battery and charged using the mag charger and my PC USB.

This hopper has always been a use at 5 or why bother type device...
At 4 I used to get whispy vapor and anything under that, nothing but taste.

Using it today I am blown away by it again!
I load and do a heat up and allow the blue lights to stay on for a count of 5.
Click off and wait for a count of 5 and then turn on again and rip!
Almost instant vapor and I can now use it at 3.5 and get vapor and great taste!!
Think I will leave it like this and keep the other 2 batteries for the IO until the new ones come in.

My OG SS Hopper is performing like a new unit again.
I have not done a total bowl for the battery count but after 5, double heat bowls I was a baked potato!
The battery was still good and very little light flicker.

If you can magnify and pick out the back threads 100%, do it!!
it will change your experience!

I have some Hopper pieces I will try this with. Thanks.

edit: My grey Ti Hopper was acting up so I got a new back end from HL. I keep forgetting to send in my original back end so I cleaned the threads with ISO and a Q-tip and it is working great again. They didn’t even look dirty!!

thanks again!

Can you post s picture of the dental tool you used to clean the threads and maybe a link where it can be purchased? Thanks!

Uh, I know they put gold on electrical contacts, but I think the threads are now brass???
oh, maybe so...but I thought I remembered them saying all conduction surfaces are now gold plated for better conduction? Either way brass is fairly soft too, so I wouldn't go tartar picking it either.
And just to be clear only the backend/male threads are gold or brass. The body/female threads appear same as before.

From their website:

"Brass threads on the backend means power transmission to the body has never been this efficient. A better connection with smoother action and longer life."
