Discontinued The Grasshopper

oh yeah .. my SS hopper died like 2-3 weeks ago and not send it in yet
"noh hurre herye" I say with my terrible Scottish accent as I breeze through the last 3 pages of posts :lmao:

looks like the same old :shit: and dying for actual fault rate statistics of every hopper produced

like there GOT to be some "use ones or twice" in the months hopper still alive from back in 2015 and that is a large number of their customer base ? or "silicon valley" money holding them afloat ? maybe magic?

well either way the hopper is fantastic and hope it does not join the "discontinued list" :rip:

good luck all and light(or god or whatever) speed to all

Seems to me HL should stop production till they are 100% sure they ship perfect new pieces as well as send new hoppers to RMA ( it would be better for the enviroment to have less frustrated people than to save on parts )

I really wanna buy it, just because there’s no other sub for vaping but I’m holding till I hear more positive feedback from people who baught AFTER May 1st and are NOT professional vape reviewers.

Just a thought.

pfff If 250 bucks is a lot of money for you then pick something safer, if you like vaping and want to try out something kick-ass with a crazy life-time warranty then go for it

I love my hopper and not sure I could find another vape that could replace what it does for me

My Ti Bronze went in early Feb for RMA and is still in purgatory as I have mentioned before.

I have seen a couple of folks on VLF comment that their RMA returned unit either did not work or failed again very quickly.

This is only a couple of reports and I have no way to put this in perspective. But for god's sake I hope they aren't doing that again. This was not at all unusual previously and really indicated the insufficiency of their fault detection/isolation built into the device and their test rigs.

If they start shipping repaired units that are non-functional again, I'm afraid there will be no defending them.

However, as I said...this is just a couple of reports and we will have to see in the fullness of time.

Its now been two weeks since my TI RMA came home. It’s rocking hard.... it is used all day long daily, every day since I got it back, around setting 4. There has been no degradation in it since I got it back. Heat up time is still fast (3-5 seconds). Battery life is best its ever been. Heres hoping it keeps up!

How many hits do you guys average from a bowl on the hopper? 4-6 strong hits before the vapor starts to taper off?

That very much depends on the quality of what you put into it, in my experience. Unsurprisingly. For me it's 2-4 in general, with high quality cannabis, but I mostly use it through a water piece, so these may well be bigger "hits" than you're doing.

My AVB comes out real light brown. Wb you guys?

This one seems to vary according to the Grasshopper. Mine is medium brown, generally, I'd say. Hopper Labs made a video of what the ABV is supposed to look like:

My ABV comes out looking like their 3, when I run my hopper on 5. But I'm happy with that, it's about the extraction I'd choose anyway. I'm sure it depends on other things too, like moisture content of herb, whether it's tightly packed, maybe other things.

Playing round with this hopper right now. Fuck yeah a couple of chambers have got me blasted.

I'm not tending to get very dark ABV from it, though sometimes it's definitely come out close to the High - 5 shown in the vid above. I have noticed that the bud I have at the moment is very noticeably tending to a 3 or 4 shade, compared to the kush I had before which (was overly cured and extremely dry) came out very dark consistently. Though the Sub is destroying the flower I have now, it's also showing more tanned ABV as compared, but nothing like the full convectioned, hoppered ABV.
Ultimately it's the effect I'm after, and the Grasshopper hits are super terpene heavy. It's a heady, uplifting high. The Sub produces a much, much denser super-fog, and hits hard, properly messing with the next part of your day.
Their powers combined are well suited for achieving the reddest eyes.

A crude shot from a couple of nights ago.
I think I owe thanks to @Hogni for the Stevenlmz79 carb adapter.

My own hopper should be here pretty soon, in customs atm. But for now, I'm happy with these latest renditions. Not sure if it'd be wise to expect anything drastically different from what we've seen/experienced overall however.

How long does it generally take after placing an order to get an expected ship date? Placed one last week.

I asked them beginning of the month how long would it be with UPS they answered back saying 5-7 business days.

EDIT: I’m not in the USA

Please let us know when you get it and how is it. I’m thinking of buying one myself.

You don't ever get an estimated ship date (other than what it said when you checked out) unless you ask, and then whatever they tell you probably won't be accurate.

It said 4 weeks on checkout, but yeah their lacking CS seemed to be a major topic on FC. It almost had me picking up the Firefly instead, but I've had 2 of them break in the past and didn't feel like shipping them back out to get fixed, so I skipped on the FF2.

That must have been on the titanium heat treated model, they said 5-7 to ship when I looked at them, but the regular Ti said 4 weeks, which is the one I went with. I'll keep you posted.

DISCLAIMER*** Grasshopper #1 fanboy here so my opinions are BIASED!!!!!!

But my experience is not. As for the Grasshopper, I have had to "fix" it more often than my other vapes, this however, while perhaps representative of others experience, cannot be strictly said to be the "grasshopper experience". Among my friends that have one which is upwards of 20 at this point, some have never had a repair, others multiple.

That said, both versions of the Firefly I had to repair, I had to send in both my pax 1 and pax 2 once at least, My Davicni IQ has some aesthics issues like pieces falling off but nothing work fixing, I got a puffco peak and already on atomizer #2, in short its been my experience that in this micro-market of cannabis vape tech, shit breaks ... often and better have a backup.

The other aspect of my experience is joy of use. I will say I have had a Ghost MV1 for about 2 or 3 weeks now and while there are things I like about it and I totally "get it" for those that are into it but I still STRONGLY prefer the grasshopper. I do find that ever since I got the peak I've been using more concentrates than before because its also a fantastic user experience in my opinion but I almost never use my Firefly 2 anymore, and I'm going to see if the ghost, with the crucible containers can find a role as my "poolside" vape and if not i'm likely to sell it as my dope toy chest is starting to over-flow with misfits.

Is the grasshopper perfect? NO. Is it for everyone? NO. but for me each new vape that I get excited about whether trying it out at a party (like the fury 2) or borrowing one and getting super excited (thanks @ShayWhiteGrow for letting borrow that MV1!) and then buying it, once the new toy phase wears off I find myself right back on the hopper wagon.

There are a lot of "best" vapes out there, depending on your personal preferences but they all break and as for finding the perfect vape for you, its a little trail and error, but I would recommend the Grasshopper as a contender in anyone's search since it is MY perfect vape.

I've never heard of someone's Milaana randomly not working anymore (as long as it was working at the start.)

The grasshopper is an incredible vape (and definitely my favorite) but there are absolutely vaporizers that don't just randomly stop working for no reason on the market.

Yeah, actually the only steadily used vaporizer I haven't had break is the MFLB, my Thermovape and Pax still work, but haven't experienced heavy daily usage. I've been using a box mod with concentrate for a couple years now, but am looking to get back into the flower game. I'm really hoping I get a solid Grasshopper that will hold up for a long time with some care. The Fireflies I've owned, I loved, they were just a little bulky and heavy for carrying around in your pocket, outside of that, the flavor they produced was awesome!

Edit: I forgot to mention, yes I'm in the USA.

If you want a reliable vape that is built like a tank, hits hard, will ship immediately, and is from a company with a stainless track record, you'd be better off looking at an Arizer Solo.
I checked ALL alternatives and nothing seems as strong and sleek as the GH *WHEN IT WORKS*
I didn’t find anything as appealing to replace the old school bong and daily J’s. But not running to buy it. Yet.

I’m hoping this industry will grow faster so we could have more powerful reliable pens

That's the issue I have too, my hopper is extremely fast and powerful, I tried the fury 2 which many on the hopper subreddit praised, and it is night and day different. The fury 2 couldn't even hope to get me to the same point after many draws and the next day I felt nothing. With the grasshopper I feel my head is clearer the next day after using it, and that's the feeling I look for. The fury 2 probably needs more testing, but I don't think it is anywhere near on the same level as the grasshopper and now I'm wondering if any other devices really are.
