Wow, the design is amazingly simple yet achieves what a vaporizer should do; regulate the temperature. Might have to get one of these..
The force is strong with this one . . . .

You know what do.

Speaking of cup holders, my truck has one designed specifically for the Zion. True story.

Oh now that is (two tones please people) AWE-some!

Really loving that.

But not only that - has our good pal The Whore posted a picture right there of his brand new production Zion??!!

Er, I think so!

Well done good sir!

Well, while you're in a snappy mood . . . ;)

It started with four really close friends... @MrPeanut is the one that encouraged me to design a vaporizer. I created the technology after much intellectual property searching, prototyping and testing. I then designed the 2x4 and gave my brother a napkin sketch to make the wooden body. I built a few and shared them with Mr.peanut and a couple that still use 2x4 #2. They where impressed so I quickly filed for patent pending and wound up here on FC. These people had faith in me and gave the gift of their time and energy to help make that first step so thank you!

As the Zion started it's journey on FC @thekarmawhore was already busy adding the cap and large radius rounds to the design. His CAD renderings allowed the fabrication of the initial Alpha units sent to @pakalolo and @stickstones for evaluation. Think you have a good technology? Take it the the best in the world. These people spent hours with me on the phone, email, Skype, in person, IM, PMs and of course let's not forget the countless hours of testing. All because they believed in the Zion. I am humbled by their commitment and forever in debt.

We then delivered an improved beta unit with a recessed knob and button to @KeroZen the last of the trio of Alpha testers. His electronics expertise, battery safety knowledge and material safety concerns rounded out the team.

Then a pay to play Beta team. How do build such an amazing team.... luck? They are simply the first 10 people crazy enough to pay money for a Zion and wait. Every beta tester added a missing ingredient to the mix and we all worked the Zion to design entitlement as a team. Z-team, you where the voice of the customer in the form of expert users. For this I am sure everyone is thankful to enjoy the fruit of your efforts. Thanks for putting up with me guys, you're one hell of a team!

Thank you to all the moderators and people behind the scenes that make FC such a tightly managed community. It's been one hell or a ride and with any luck we are just getting started.

Finally, thanks to all you Lifers who had faith in the Zion to preorder... The first three of which received their tracking numbers today.

Peace,
RBT

This video is an excellent demonstration because you show how the low end produces nice smooth tasty vapour, and the top end is capable of thick clouds.

You're more than welcome to whatever assistance I've provided. I agreed to try an early Zion without knowing how good it would be. Jessica didn't look like much but she turned out to be a champion. Once I realized the potential I was hooked. I've rarely used anything else since.

The way you speak about the path to zion and commitment to take input to make this vape somerging special makes me confident in giving you my money! Can't wait.

My only regret was not finding out about Zionsville sooner.

Oh well, we are all sleep until we wake up.

Congratulations @RastaBuddhaTao for getting this off the ground and taking the time to do it right!

Now that said, I'm patiently waiting for mine. :) The vid looks great!

Super Cool you are on the pre-order. I like a marketing guy that is out in the mix learning the real needs of the customers. I am patiently awaiting your expert feedback lol.

If I'm remembering right it was said just a few pages ago that batteries will now come with every Zion. How does this affect those who already purchased batteries--will we just get two more than we ordered at no charge? Also, when our Zion is close to shipping, we'll be getting an email where we can adjust out accessories, correct? All this talk about digital chargers is making me think that I'll likely be switching out my analog I ordered for a digital, and I want to make sure I'll have an opportunity to do that.

I also would like to know regarding the battery situation, as I ordered a Zion with batteries and the question quoted above doesn't seem to have been answered as yet, unless I have misread.

Will an extra set now be included with my order giving me 2 full sets?

Sorry for the confusion. If you ordered a Zion prior to January your order will be filled as placed unless you opt to add accessories at the time we email you to verify your shipping address.

The Zion's being sold from January forward will come with batteries to ensure that proper batteries are used with the Zion. So, apples to apples pricing the Zion alone would be $245. This was an attempt to show that the price of the Zion has not increased from the retail cost of $250 that it had been in the past.

If you are supplying your own batteries be sure that they are new, meet the 2.5 V minimum voltage and 20 Amp current rating, and are used in matched pairs and rotated in position in the Zion after each use.

My current biggest concern with the Zion is.... I want a second unit. I need one that lives in my nightstand and as a backup, and one for all around daily use. Anything less than two Zions is uncivilized.

Add the stir stick, concentrate pad, a 18mm adaptor, and i think this would quickly become my most used vaporizer for the foreseeable future. Cheers.

Isn't that what the mini ones are for? I can see getting a mini 18650 unregulated one too. The only way I can't see myself getting the unregulated as a pocket sized companion to the zion, is if I get my hands on firefly 2 first.

Be happy as a pig in shit if I only ended up with one but I can see the big bonus of having Zion no.2 on standby should the worse happen, not sure what that case scenrio would be looks like it's simple in concept and use so far less chance of anything going wrong short or long term.

What type of drop are we talking about?
Just a waist high to floor drop on a hard surface?

This is SLIGHTLY concerning, only because I'm sure I have dropped every vape I own at least ONCE.

And suppose a drop DID happen and the glass broke, would it be an easily fixable thing?

I'm guessing the size of the Zion will make it less likely to take a drop than the pax2 (which dropped all the time) mostly from accidentally leaving it on my lap and then standing up or getting out of a car.

Any plans for a case in the future?

I have had a number of small drops with no ill effects. Even once or twice with a stem in, but on to carpet and not stem down. Stem down it IS likely to break the stem at least, or even the joint, but they are glass and there is really no way to protect glass from breaking from impact. It is the tradeoff you make for the clean taste glass provides, and well worth it.

And BTW, the Zion at rest is self contained and really not exposed to breakage. The wood cap covers the stored stem and you would practically have to TRY to break anything. As you have seen it can be run over by a car. It is only when in use with the stem loaded that there is any risk, and that is really no greater than other glass stem based vapes.

Oh man, since we've moved to the big leagues my new post notifications have been slipping through! So much I have missed...

Loved the latest video and Zion history post @RastaBuddhaTao! Temp stepping in the Zion is truly amazing, you don't need exact temps to experience a full range in one bowl using the power knob, it works better than any digital vape I've used actually, it may temp step better than any vape I've ever used actually... As @thekarmawhore said it just feels so natural, intuitive, with effects stronger than combustion and a unique vapor profile, its like what vaping should be imo, a new standard for me

@IAmKrazy2 now my early beta Daisy comparisons made perfect sense didn't they? Sure its a lot like an LSV or Evo in use and function, but the actual signature of the hits, the sheer :whoa: is all its own, much like the pure flame powered Daisy... Yup Zion's power profile can just about match that of fire itself folks!

And yes, two Zions are definitely better than one I can indeed attest. Even a fire & ice combo like mine works wonders, rough beta body Zig has no trouble swiftly satisfying anyone low on his extremely hot dial, while production sexy sister Zen can kick it up to 11 on her cooler dial for one hit wonders through glass as well.

I'll just leave these here for now, I use Zion dry the most, but through water like with these Chinese inline honeycomb and FC-Mod showerhead bubblers, and especially this Evolver HydraTree, it truly is a full on portable desktop, effortlessly smooth massive instant clouds, its just ridiculously capable and oh so wonderfully versatile of course!!! :ko:

Adapters are tricky, getting US sized 18.8mm (ISO can be cut, but getting screens in can be tricky since its a wider diameter deeper down, though doable shallow basket style) and long enough to clear hydratubes and bubblers. Some day official Zion WPAs will be sweet, but asofnow any glass blower should be able to cut you a 7/8 inch long 18.8mm male joint to properly connect to Zion's female bowl
